Oracle Corp. is the winning bidder for a deal with TikTok’s U.S. operations, people familiar with the talks said, after main rival Microsoft Corp. said its offer for the video app was rejected.
ByteDance Ltd., TikTok’s parent, turned down Microsoft’s previous bid to buy TikTok’s U.S. assets. A deal with Oracle is narrower, appearing more like a corporate restructuring than an outright sale, one of the people said.

One person familiar with the deliberations in the White House said it’s unclear whether a deal with Oracle will pass muster with the Trump administration, where various factions have been pushing for a complete shutdown or an outright sale of TikTok to an American company.

Oracle, a company with a closer relationship to the U.S. president, emerged as a bidder with the backing of Sequoia Capital, a key ByteDance shareholder.

disbanded the global pandemic task force, fired the CDC's epidmologist who was on the ground,
and got us out of PREDICT that was on the ground in Wuhan, China looking for the coronavirus
up until Sept. 2019.

I had never seen him speak before and I just saw 3 minutes on CNN and he is
either mentally ill and or just enjoys being an asshole. He was arguing that the
models on the # of projected C-19 deaths* is wrong because "they" have changed
the models and so that means that the current models are wrong. Or something
like that and when shown models that accuratly predicted the # of deaths and the
# of cases of the disease by the host he just filibusterd and talked over the host.

The US coronavirus death toll is projected to reach 410,000 in the next four months

(CNN)A new model often cited by top health officials raised its projections Friday, predicting over 410,000 coronavirus deaths nationwide by January 1.
That would mean an additional 224,000 Americans lost in the next four months -- more than double the 186,000 deaths reported by Johns Hopkins University.
The model from the University of Washington's Institute for Health Metrics and Evaluation points to declining mask use in some regions from a peak in usage in early August. The scenarios in the model suggest 122,000 of those lives could be saved with near-universal mask use. It also warns the death toll could be much higher -- over 620,000 -- if all restrictions are eased.
"If a herd immunity strategy is pursued, meaning no further government intervention is taken from now to Jan 1st, the death toll could increase to 620,000,"

“Barack Obama and Joe Biden had a program, called Predict, that tracked emerging diseases in places like China,” she (the K-Bomb aka Senator Harris) said late in her 20-minute speech. “Trump cut it.”
The government agency that let Predict die last October has quietly created a $100 million program with a similar purpose as Predict, but it has a different name. The new program, set to begin in October, will be called Stop Spillover.
Predict, which was started in 2009 as part of the Obama administration’s Emerging Pandemic Threats program, was inspired by the 2005 H5N1 bird flu scare. Predict was run by the United States Agency for International Development, which is an independent foreign-aid agency overseen by the State Department.

Is there any doubt that Trump cut the program because it was "the black guy's idea." Predict had scientists on the ground in Wuhan, China in Oct of 2019 looking for viruses like C-19 and Trump stopped that program. We should not be going through this this viral nightmare right now.
