Daily Kos: Flynn's Secret Meeting with Kislyak was 'No Rogue Action'

The White House knew the election was dirty from the get go.
Mike Pence, “defend election legitimacy now.”

Trump’s team has portrayed Flynn as a rogue actor over his contacts with the Russians, in which he apparently promised that the new administration would ease sanctions imposed by Barack Obama on Russia in connection to its alleged online meddling in the 2016 elections. But emails seen by the Times show senior transition official K.T. McFarland had notified other staff that Flynn would be reaching out to Russian ambassador Sergei Kislyak as part of an effort to repair U.S.-Russian relations, “which has just handed the U.S.A. election to him [Trump].”
[...]

In an email to another transition official, now-homeland security adviser Thomas Bossert, McFarland wrote that “Russia’s response over the next few days” to Flynn’s outreach would be crucial. Per the Times, Bossert then forwarded that December 29th email exchange to at least six other officials including Flynn, Reince Priebus, Stephen Bannon, and Sean Spicer. He added that everyone needed to “defend election legitimacy now.”

Up til now, Mike Pence has claimed time and again he was “out of loop”. That he knew nothing of the Flynn peace-offering mission. That these were all rogue actions, by rouge players — to conduct secret international diplomacy, on a whim, on their own initiative. For the fun of it, apparently.

EVEN THOUGH, Mike Pence was the Boss of every one them — since Pence was the Director of the Transition Team, where this micro-managed “mend the fences conspiracy” occurred.

Conducted political intelligence-gathering activities in the United States;
Hid their activities by setting up virtual networks in America that masked their extra-American communications;
Influenced the American election by using false personas to organize rallies for Trump, criticizing Muslims and spreading allegations of voter fraud by candidate Clinton;
Stole American identities to create controlled accounts; and
Destroyed evidence of their activities.

In fact there are many, many options a normal Administration would take to isolate and punish the Russian state.

None of Trump’s tweets expressed anger or alarm about the Russian intervention, which Mueller’s charges said involved entry into the U.S. by Russians collecting intelligence for the plan.

A White House spokesperson went even further Saturday, suggesting that Democrats and the mainstream media deserve more blame than Russia for political division in the U.S.

Chait arrives at this conclusion indirectly, as none of us except for Trump and possibly a few others in the Kremlin could possibly confirm it, but Trump’s behavior pattern towards Russia has been remarkably telling. There is no good reason for Trump’s grotesquely fawning relationship to the Russian state unless it derives from a benefit to Trump himself. That’s simply the kind of man he is. Whether that benefit is related to his finances, of which he is astonishingly secretive, or of his personal sexual habits, which have recently been revealed as equally clandestine, Trump has shown himself to be obligated for some reason to the Russian state. And the news in recent weeks has confirmed that Trump is possessed of the type of character that is ripe for blackmail.

The CIA concluded Russia intervened in the 2016 election to help Donald Trump win the presidency

This was an act of war by a hostile foreign power ..... end of story.

Watching Joe Scarborough going on and on about rigging the election makes me want to vomit

Joe S. remember Florida 2000 and bush v Gore? And you were right in the middle
of helping to rig the election by working to stop the count of the vote.

Trump, "I never said Russia did not meddle in the election."

Really? How long will it take some DUers to walk their google poodle or search Youtube
to prove Trump is lying once again?

BTW as been already noted Donny is losing it on twitter from last night on
to this morning. He is shittin' kittens.

Update Trump in July 2016

This goes wide and deep /Manafort (Russian agent) picked Pence for V.P.

The Russians needed people inside of the U.S. to help run their scams and found them in
Team Trump, Fox News, the NRA, and the GOP.

BTW how did McConnell know that if he blocked Garland he would get somebody else to
vote for the SCOTUS?

Russia is way deep into the Republican party.

Before Trump formally announced Pence as his vice presidential candidate, it was Manafort who made sure it happened, The New York Times reported last year.

Trump had hesitated to settle on Pence, who was governor of Indiana. Trump was fielding last-ditch appeals from New Jersey Governor Chris Christie and publicly said he had not made a “final, final decision” until advisers like Manafort reminded him of the importance of uniting the GOP around conservative Christian values.

CBS News reported that Pence was Manafort's "first choice" and that Manafort even lied about mechanical problems on Trump's plane to make the soon-to-be GOP nominee stay an extra day in Indiana to get to know Pence. In a phone call, Manafort assured Trump that Pence was the right choice and made a case that won over the real estate tycoon.

Manafort would later downplay his behind-the-scenes choice, telling the Times that Trump never seriously doubted Pence.

Trump has now admitted to Russian attacks on the United States.

"Russia started their anti-US campaign in 2014, long before I announced that I would run for President," Trump tweeted as he departed the White House for south Florida, the location of his private Mar-a-Lago club. "The results of the election were not impacted. The Trump campaign did nothing wrong – no collusion!"

What happened to the fat kid on his bed in mom's basement in N.J.?

Please tell me how Trump's wall would have kept us safe from all of these shootings?

BTW Fuck the NRA.

Steve Kerr calls for change after shooting in Florida: 'Nothing has been done'

We can vote people in who actually have the courage

“It doesn’t seem to matter to our government that children are being shot to death, day after day in schools. It doesn’t matter that people are being shot at a concert, at a movie theater. Its not enough, apparently, to move our leadership, our government, the people who are running this country to actually do anything. That’s demoralizing.

But we can do something about it. We can vote people in who actually have the courage to protect people’s lives, not just bow down to the NRA because they’ve financed their campaign for them. Hopefully we’ll find enough people, first of all to vote, get people in, but hopefully we’ll find enough people to actually help our citizens remain safe and focus on the real safety issues. Not building some stupid wall for millions of dollars that has nothing to do with our safety, but actually protecting us from what is truly dangerous, which is maniacs with semi-automatic weapons just slaughtering our children. It’s disgusting.”

2 days ago I went and paid my respects as two local policeman's bodies were taken from ....

..... the county morgue to their hometown. They died after being ambushed trying to
save a women in a domestic abuse case.

I felt like crap after watching the funeral procession. It was like a deep fog of sadness.

I never want to hear about how we need a good person w/a gun to stop a bad
person w/a gun again. In Westerville, OH we had two really good persons w/guns
and still they died.

I also never want to hear ever again the following:

thoughts and prayers

a moment of silence for the victims

it is too soon to talk about gun laws

*******

It is the guns end of story.
