Fat Bear Week

Fat Bear Week is back!

The annual competition hosted by Alaska's Katmai National Park has announced this year's contenders as it kicked off the event, meant to celebrate the brown bears as they pack on the pounds before winter hibernation.

The competition works by using a bracket format that pairs the bears against each other, giving online voters the opportunity to choose the Fat Bear Week 2022 winner over the course of several rounds.

The annual competition hosted by Alaska's Katmai National Park has announced this year's contenders as it kicked off the event, meant to celebrate the brown bears as they pack on the pounds before winter hibernation.

The competition works by using a bracket format that pairs the bears against each other, giving online voters the opportunity to choose the Fat Bear Week 2022 winner over the course of several rounds

"Fat Bear Week is a celebration of success and survival," Katmai National Park wrote on its website. "It is a way to celebrate the resilience, adaptability and strength of Katmai's brown bears."

Online voting will be open from October 5 - 11 from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. AKDT.

"Over the course of the week, virtual visitors learn more about the lives and histories of individual bears while also gaining a greater understanding of Katmai's ecosystem," the park said.

The competition, which began in 2014, saw nearly 800,000 votes cast in 2021. It has continued to be a way for the park to celebrate its "healthy ecosystem."

According to the park, the bears' survival depends on eating a year's worth of food in six months.

Former Katmai National Park ranger Andrew LaValle told CBS News in 2018 that "a fat bear is a healthy bear, and it's something to celebrate."

Trump stole and sold our nation's top secrets. Trump sold or traded those secrets to our ....

.... nation's enemies aka Russia and Saudi Arabia (my guess)

He needs to be indicted*, picked up, and locked up ASAP as national security and flight risk.
God only knows how many of our world wide intelligence agents and contacts have been put
@ risk and or already killed. Trump had documents about our surveillance satellites in his closet
and that information has no doubt been passed on to Vlad/Russia including information about
satellites we have had or still have in geosynchronous orbit over Ukraine. Trump also took the
documents that had to do w/his links to Russia, the dirty 2016 election, and his work along with
others to overthrow our democracy so he could stay in power and avoid criminal and civil penalties
that he knew he was coming once he was out of the White House.

* Just pick one of the charges .... there are so many.

As I have written too many times America has had 3 people who have been convicted of espionage
@ the level which Trump might have been @ and they were the Rosenbergs (executed) and FBI
Agent Robert Hanssen who is doing 15 life terms in the Fed's super max prison in Florence, Colorado.

Lizzo Invited to Perform at James Madison's Home After Playing Crystal Flute

Source: Freedom Rock Radio Live Free - Rock Hard!

Lizzo playing James Madison‘s flute might have conservative pundits up in arms, but the folks repping the 4th president’s home couldn’t be happier and they’re urging her to make a house call ASAP.

A rep for James Madison’s Montpelier estate tells TMZ … Lizzo now has an open invitation to take a private tour of Madison’s well-preserved estate after she made history with the crystal instrument formerly owned by the prez.

snip

They hope something can be worked out with the Library of Congress to get the crystal flute — which dates back to 1813 — brought there for Lizzo’s set. The estate notes there’s no evidence JM ever played the instrument, so Lizzo could be the first to play Madison’s flute at Madison’s home. Iconic.

FYI — the historic Montpelier, located in Virginia, is a 2,650-acre estate … acting not only as a monument to the former president, but also as a museum of American history and a center for constitutional education.

Judge Cannon is a cog in the right wing coup to take over America and she is not stupid either.

We have to crush these Christo Fascisti Coup Birds. They have not stopped their un-American shit after Trump's defeat
and their 1/6/21 Fascisti "Black Shirts" attack on the US Capitol and the Constitution if anything they have increased
their attacks just to see just how much shit they can get away with, they have unlimited money, and much of the media
too.

We have to crush them at the ballot box and in early voting this fall.

Cannon has been a member of the Federalist Society since 2005.

From Wiki

Early life and education:
Aileen Mercedes Cannon was born in 1981 in Cali, Colombia. Her mother had fled Cuba under Fidel Castro.[2] She attended Ransom Everglades School, a private high school in Miami, Florida.[3]

After graduating from Duke University in 2003 with a Bachelor of Arts, Cannon worked as a paralegal for the U.S. Department of Justice's Civil Rights Division from 2003 to 2005. She then attended the University of Michigan Law School, where she was an articles editor for the University of Michigan Journal of Law Reform. She graduated in 2007 with a Juris Doctor magna cum laude and Order of the Coif membership.[1][4]

Legal career:
After law school, Cannon was a summer associate at the law firm Gibson, Dunn & Crutcher (now Gibson Dunn) in its Washington, D.C. office. From 2008 to 2009, she was a law clerk to judge Steven Colloton of the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Eighth Circuit. She then returned to Gibson Dunn from 2009 to 2012.

From 2013 until her judicial appointment in 2020, Cannon was an assistant U.S. attorney for the Southern District of Florida.[4] Cannon worked in the district's major crimes section from 2013 to 2015, then in its appellate section from 2015 to 2020.[1]

Joe Biden is the best President of my lifetime.

This is what his administration got done prior to the storm.

(And still 1/2 of Florida will vote against Joe and the party that helps 'em. )

FACT SHEET: The Biden Administration’s Preparation for Hurricane Ian
September 28, 2022
• Statements and Releases

As Hurricane Ian approaches Florida, President Biden has directed the heads of Federal agencies across the government to surge all available resources to the region in preparation for potential impacts and to support response and recovery efforts in the aftermath of the storm.

Yesterday, the President held calls with Governor Ron DeSantis of Florida, Mayor Jane Castor of Tampa, Mayor Ken Welch of St. Petersburg, and Mayor Frank Hibbard of Clearwater to discuss preparations for the potential impacts from Hurricane Ian. In the last week, FEMA Administrator Deanne Criswell has held calls with Governor Ron DeSantis of Florida, Governor Henry McMaster of South Carolina, and Governor Brian Kemp of Georgia, and she visited Florida on Monday, September 26.

On Saturday, September 24, President Biden approved an Emergency Declaration for the State of Florida within hours of receiving the request from Governor DeSantis, to support preparedness efforts and ensure resources are pre-positioned in advance of potential storm impacts.

At President Biden’s direction, FEMA is coordinating across the Federal government to support State and local preparations. And, the President and the Administration urge everyone to follow the guidance of local officials.

Pre-staging equipment and resources across the region in advance of landfall:

The Administration pre-staged 110,000 gallons of fuel and 18,000 pounds of propane for immediate deployment and personnel and equipment to support distribution.

The Administration moved in a variety of generators of all sizes and types and pre-positioned assessment and installation teams–to provide temporary emergency power to critical infrastructure.

The Administration is staging 3.7 million meals and 3.5 million liters of water in Alabama.

The Administration has 300 ambulances already in the state working side by side with local officials.

Pre-positioning Federal responders to support emergency response:

As of September 28, there are more than 1,300 Federal response workers on the ground in Florida to support emergency preparations including operations, planning, power restoration, debris removal, and urban search and rescue.

FEMA Regional Administrator Gracia Szczech has been embedded in the State of Florida to ensure needs are being met.

FEMA has established a Federal search and rescue coordination group, including FEMA Urban Search and Rescue personnel and search and rescue personnel from multiple additional Federal departments and agencies, including the U.S. Coast Guard, the Department of Defense, the Department of the Interior, and the State of Florida. These teams are on the ground and ready to deploy search and rescue efforts by sea, air, and land as soon as they are needed.

The Army Corps of Engineers has pre-staged 300 personnel to support power and fuel assessments as soon as the storm passes. The Administration is in close coordination with local power companies. Florida Power & Light, Duke Energy, and Tampa Electric have 30,000 personnel ready to assist in power restoration. Thousands more are being made available through utility sector mutual aid agreements with neighboring utilities in other states.

The Department of Health and Human Services has deployed a 38-person disaster medical assistance team to Miami, Florida. Two additional disaster medical assistance teams have been deployed to Robin Air Force Base in Georgia. They have also deployed 15-person incident management team, two 15-person health and medical task force teams and 4 pharmacists to Atlanta, Georgia. More staff is anticipated in the next 24 hours.

Look out N & S Carolina, West Va., S.E. OH and KY because when what is left of Hurricane Ian tracks

... through we are going to see flooding like we saw last summer in KY.

Because when the Ian dumps its water in the mountains of the N & S Carolina that water will
cause flooding all the way to the Atlantic and in the hill country of KY, WV, and S.E. OH expect
flooding in the valleys, along the creeks, and rivers from the run off.

Projected track of storm in this link.

Katie Couric reveals she was diagnosed with breast cancer

Source: NBC

Couric, 65, began her most recent Instagram post by sharing a startling statistic — every two minutes, a woman is diagnosed with the disease in the United States.

"On June 21st, I became one of them," Couric wrote. "As we approach #BreastCancerAwarenessMonth, I wanted to share my personal story with you all and encourage you to get screened and understand that you may fall into a category of women who needs more than a mammogram."

Couric said her thoughts immediately went to other family members who had battled the disease, including her late husband Jay Monahan who died from colon cancer in 1998 at the age of 41.

"My mood quickly shifted from disbelief to resignation. Given my family’s history of cancer, why would I be spared? My reaction went from 'Why me?' to 'Why not me?'" she wrote.

My good friend's wife has had this awful disease for years but now it has come back big time.

I wish Ms. Couric well.
