Nictuku's JournalRe: Disney vs DirecTV (and the debate)
Because I have DirecTV, I no longer have access to ABC. We are missing our World News Tonight (w/David Muir), that is the news my mother likes the best, otherwise she is on MSNBC. Me, I am missing my General Hospital. What to do? (Switch service? gah, I might have to, but am waiting it out for now to see if they resolve the dispute) DirecTV gave me a whopping $20. to make up for it.
But I just now realized that I might not be able to watch the debate because of this. Does anyone know if it will also be on C-SPAN? Or other channels? We may have to stream it.
The Love of Money is the Source of all Evil
Get it together Disney and DirecTV!!! I'm about to cut the cord once and for all.
When "Weird" stops working, we can use "Dorky" to keep it going!
Calling TSF a Fourth Grader will be a good one too! (there was an article today that compared the first 30,000 words of presidents, and used AI to 'grade' the speeches. Trump was a 4th Grader (the lowest!! Hoover was highest, and Carter 2nd. Obama was up there too)
But now... I just read an article with a quote from JD's wife: "I think I want them to know that he's a real person," Usha Vance said. "He has all sorts of dorky interests that anyone of our age could relate to."
Hahahaha.... OK, JD is Dorky, and TSF a Fourth Grader.
It will Drive them Nutz!!!
Edit: Adding Link to the 'dorky' quote:

Should we start refering to our president as King Biden?
I bet that would get under their skins. But little will that matter.
Ukraine Aid Bill Passes the Senate!!!! On the way to the President's Desk!!!
Absolutely Amazing!!! Thank God.
Edit Add In: If you are wondering where I got this, I was watching C-SPAN. They had a Cloture vote (I think it was 80 to 19? something like that), and since the bill had previously passed the Senate, what came back from the House are considered 'amendments' and the senate voted on those amendments, and thus the bill was passed.
Very surprised there are no articles about it yet.
Additional Edit: I was wrong, not actually passed yet. I apologize for jumping the gun. Schumer confused me with his victory speech thanking everyone, saying it was on the way to the president's desk, and I did read somewhere that the senate had already passed the bill and what came back from the house was considered amendments, and the senate voted for those amendments (and no need to further vote on the bill)
I WAS WRONG. I apologize.
Johnson's about-face on Ukraine. My Ex thinks Trump gave him permission
I'm not quite sure about that. Why would Trump do that? We all know he kowtows to Putin. It doesn't make sense.
But then, none of it does.
I did read an article yesterday (was posted on DU) about Trump is not going to come to the aid of Johnson if/when they try to kick him out of the Speakership. So maybe that is why Johnson suddenly is supportive for aid to Ukraine.
I also read something a few days ago (again, on DU) about an insider Republican who stated that if they went forward to Vacate Johnson, that several (3?) Republicans will resign immediately thus flipping the House to Democratic control. (Wow.....)
In the end, I'm left scratching my head in puzzlement. I still don't understand why Johnson (right after visiting Trump at Magat Large-oh) agreed to let it come to the floor. Self Preservation (relying on Democrats?) That is also too weird.
Anyone have any better ideas?
Great Conversation on C-Span (link)
This morning on Washington Journal there was a segment discussing Cannabis that I really enjoyed and found very informational. Here is a link for anyone interested:

Voting Dilemma in California
I am preparing my ballot for mailing, and I am faced with a difficult question for California Senator (Diane Finestein's Seat).
Here is the dilemma: I know who I want to vote for for the full-term of the Senate (I was torn between Katie Porter and Adam Schiff - but I've made a decision on that)
The sticky part comes here, Governor Newsom appointed a temporary Senator (Laphonza Butler) until this primary election where we will elect a senator to serve until Jan 2025. I don't want to lose any house seats, and so there is my problem. Do I vote for (Porter or Schiff, or any other house member for that matter), and lose a seat?
With such a close margin in the House I just don't know what to do.
I wish that Laphonza Butler was on the ballot, because her holding the seat until 1/25 makes the most sense to me, but she is not on it.
What to do.... what to do.... Any advice?
Happy Valentine's day! - Thanks for all the Hearts!
