The difference between myself and a billionaire. (50,000 years)

Ya, 1 billion dollars. But what is it really?

I see homeless going through the dumpsters regularly in my neighborhood. I always think "how close am I to being there?" Currently I estimate about 6 months without any income and I would be there. Today I thought, "how long for a billionaire?" At the same expense rate, a billionaire could go for 50,000 years of no income before they were homeless.

Crazy.

Edit - was off by a zero. It would take 50,000 years not 5,000 for the billionaire to go homeless.

I see right wing arguments on both sides

of the poly no poly argument. They are loving this. Troll fest.

I believe we should allow any relationship between consenting, non-related, human, adult persons that they desire.

TPP, because you can too!

You too can become a prosperous owner (manager) of southeast asian labor. Profits are sure to come your way using proven race-to-the-bottom (expenditure lessening) strategies. Get on board with the TPP or get left out of this next century's economic prosperity.

EVERY Iraqi killed by U.S. since 2003 is a murder victim.

We have perfected murdering innocents on foreign soil and are seeing the results of bringing this mindset back home.

http://www.washingtonpost.com/national/fatal-police-shootings-in-2015-approaching-400-nationwide/2015/05/30/d322256a-058e-11e5-a428-c984eb077d4e_story.html

Fatal police shootings in 2015 approaching 400 nationwide

The three are among at least 385 people shot and killed by police nationwide during the first five months of this year, more than two a day, according to a Washington Post analysis. That is more than twice the rate of fatal police shootings tallied by the federal government over the past decade, a count that officials concede is incomplete.

“These shootings are grossly underreported,” said Jim Bueermann, a former police chief and president of the Washington-based Police Foundation, a nonprofit organization dedicated to improving law enforcement. “We are never going to reduce the number of police shootings if we don’t begin to accurately track this information.”

A national debate is raging about police use of deadly force, especially against minorities. To understand why and how often these shootings occur, The Washington Post is compiling a database of every fatal shooting by police in 2015, as well as of every officer killed by gunfire in the line of duty. The Post looked exclusively at shootings, not killings by other means, such as stun guns and deaths in police custody.

Using interviews, police reports, local news accounts and other sources, The Post tracked more than a dozen details about each killing through Friday, including the victim’s race, whether the person was armed and the circumstances that led to the fatal encounter. The result is an unprecedented examination of these shootings, many of which began as minor incidents and suddenly escalated into violence.

Here is what needs to change

At an all employee meeting at my place of employment (a multinational conglomerate) the following was stated by the company CEO (slightly paraphrased because I did not record it)

"There is a new class of investor who does not care about employees, does not care about our families, does not care about what the company is doing, does not care about the environment, and does not care about our local communities. They only care about short term gain on our stock price. We need to do everything in our power to give them their desires. It is essential that every employee at our various companies maintain the same thought process as our investors. Their desires trump all."

This is what the fight is about.

The political divide, as I see on DU.

Simple breakdown as I see it social/economic issues.

Bigoted Reaganomicist (Repuke) - Non-Bigoted Reaganomicist (Third way) - Non-Bigoted Non-Reaganomicist (Democratic party)

Where does third way belong? Imo, in the repuke party.

Which party does the third way belong in your opinion?

yes, a scam the rich play on the rest of America.

3rd way is just "Reagonomics (D)"

Who will speak the truth?

My life is a lie,

a fiction, a ruse. I live it day in and day out and it never goes away. It won't go away until the truth can be set free. I must keep living this fiction because not doing so is unbearable. I can not function on a day to day basis without pushing the truth deep down inside. For years I tried to live truthfully and it nearly killed me- the stress, the anguish, the shear horror of it all was too much. Out of necessity I learned to lie, to put away the truth, to box it up far away in order to function in this society.

What is this truth you ask?

Well, it started about 15 years ago. Here are a few bullet points.

- Election theft 2000.

Our Executive branch was handed over to Bush, Cheney, and the PNAC Republicans by a partisan supreme court.

- Illegal invasion and destruction of Iraq by the perpetrators of Election theft 2000.

Millions dead and a modern secular sovereign country destroyed for potentially generations based on a lie. Vice President's company and MIC rake in 100s of billions that future generations will need to pay off. A great theft from the citizens of the United States and a great murder of hundred of thousands of Iraqis. No one is held accountable.

- Election theft 2004

Brought to you by that same criminal cabal via voter suppression and vote flipping in Ohio.

-The great theft of 2008.

Banking industry crushes the US economy and stock market, causing tens of millions to lose their homes, tens of millions more to lose their jobs, and financial harm to possibly hundreds of millions of US citizens. No perpetrators are brought no justice. In fact just the opposite occurred. The criminals hold seats of power within our government and advise both the current President and our “front runner” for 2016.

The above list is a start, but there is so much more.

-Murder of innocent children in foreign lands via drone strikes. (collateral damage)
-The continued selling out the American citizens who are already crushed financially via “Trade Agreements”.
-The long term imprisonment and outright torture of foreign citizens for years without charge.
-The continued wars and wholesale destruction of both Afghanistan and Iraq, much of which was based on lies.
-The warrant-less spying and data collection of US citizens by the government.
-The prosecution of any wistleblower who dares to speak the truth against this government.
-International war criminals, murderers, and perpetrators of an all-out coup of the United states government walk free to this day. No one has even hinted at even investigating any of the events they masterminded and followed through with.

--------------------------

When I think of the future I dream of being free. Free to live my life without the need to hide from the truth, however awful it may be. Free to live honest again. Free to move forward without the chains of the past holding everything back. When I see a future of eight more years with Hillary as President, I see eight more years that I will continue to live in the lie. This is not how I wish to spend the next decade.

Lie, built upon lie, built upon lie. In my opinion that is what this nation is currently and what our future holds if we do not have to courage to pursue truth. Someone needs to tell the truth. Or, at a minimum, someone needs to say, “I will search for the truth” and truly look into the the string of events that has brought us where we are today.

If someone is willing to do this, they will have my backing, my financial support (what little I can offer), and above all they will have

MY VOTE.

i will go a step further and claim that

This nation's support structure has comitted treason by neglecting this nation's labor in favor of becoming modern day slave traders in less powerful areas of the globe. They are not only enemies of this nation's workers, but of every working person of the world.
