Winnie the Pooh book teaches Texas kids how to survive school shootings: report
Kids in Dallas, Texas were sent home from school with an unusual item in their backpacks, reported The Guardian: a book that features Winnie-the-Pooh explaining how to survive school shootings.
"Parents and teachers in the Dallas area have expressed alarm and concern that the Stay Safe book, produced by a law enforcement consulting firm in Houston, has been sent home in the backpacks of children in pre-kindergarten and elementary classes," reported Ed Pilkington. "The book features the honey-loving bear created by AA Milne and illustrator EH Shepard instructing kids about how to react to a mass shooting. "
"The subtitle to the Stay Safe book is: 'If there is danger, let Winnie-the-Pooh and his Crew show you what to do: Run Hide Fight,'" said the report. "Run, hide, fight are the tactics advised by the FBI 'should the unthinkable occur.' Inside pages of the book, featuring other characters from the Hundred Acre Wood, tell kids: 'If it is safe to get away, we should RUN like Rabbit instead of stay … If danger is near, do not fear, HIDE like Pooh does until the police appear.' The 'hide' page has a drawing of Pooh burying his head in a pot of honey."
The next page shows Kanga and Roo wearing boxing gloves, with the message, “If danger finds us, don’t stay, run away. If we can’t get away, we have to FIGHT with all our might.”

What is the MAGA / GOP obsession with children?
I see literally all around the country that MAGAs are going apeshit about what they're doing to "protect children". But what are they protecting children from?
If it's protecting children from sex, we all know that's bullshit because they're targeting the wrong people. They lose their fucking minds over drag queen story hour, but totally look the other way when youth pastors are involved in child rape and human trafficking, among other egregious crimes.
They're also totally OK with kids getting shot and dying while they are in school. The problem isn't more police. Or fewer windows. Or any of the other bullshit excuses they make every time a mass shooting happens in a school. One should have been enough. But nope, that worthless fucking conspiracy theorist asshole had to go shooting his mouth off that it didn't happen and now things are worse than ever. And they make it worse every time, by abusing the 2nd amendment to placate some bullshit gun fantasies, and make it easier to get guns in the hands of people who shouldn't have them.
In short, the GOP doesn't care about children. They're just using them as a prop to pass these ridiculous laws that are based on nothing. Which will ultimately hurt more children in the long run.They come from the darkest corners of the internet and are based in nothing. It's a step towards genocide. The GOP hasn't protected one kid from one groomer and they fucking know it. It's getting quite embarrassing. We need to stand up to the bullshit now, tomorrow may be too late.

Drag show restaurant Hamburger Mary's sues Florida, claiming law hurting business
A bill Gov. Ron DeSantis signed into law involving adult entertainment and children, including drag shows, is already having a detrimental effect on at least one Orlando business and it is suing to stop the bill.
Hamburger Mary’s in Orlando, famous for its burgers and drag shows, is suing the state of Florida and DeSantis in federal court, claiming the bill is a violation of their First Amendment rights.
The law in question, SB 1438, Protection of Children, penalizes venues that allow children to an “adult live performance” by suspending or revoking their business licenses.
The restaurant in downtown Orlando said it used to host a family-friendly drag brunch on Sundays.
The owners of the restaurant claim the state’s law is too vague and broad to satisfy the requirements of the First Amendment to the U.S. Constitution and that it has a chilling effect on protected speech.

TOOL's Maynard James Keenan challenges Florida drag laws at Welcome to Rockville
Maynard James Keenan used TOOL's first show of the year to make what appears to be a brave political statement. During last night's (May 21st) headlining performance at Florida's Welcome to Rockville fest, TOOL's singer took the stage in drag, donning prosthetic breasts, a blonde wig and over-the-top lipstick in a pointed defiance of the state's recent anti-drag legislation, which threatens the viability of drag performances and aims to criminalize expressions of trans and LGBTQ pride throughout Florida.
In one recently signed bill by Governor Ron DeSantis, minors are prohibited from all drag events in the state, and since Welcome to Rockville is an all-ages event, Keenan's getup technically challenged the state's new law in a not-so-subtle act of protest.
Of course, this isn't the first time Keenan has donned such a getup. The frontman has been wearing bizarre stage outfits throughout TOOL's entire history, and even wore fake boobs onstage during the band's Ænima era in the late Nineties.

Gun control foe Greg Abbott will sign ban on gender-affirming care
Texas Governor Greg Abbott (R) pledged to sign legislation into law that would outlaw gender-affirming care for most residents under eighteen years of age in the Lone Star State.
CNN reported on Thursday that Senate Bill 14 — which the Republican-dominated State Senate sent to Abbott's desk late Wednesday night — "would block a minor's access to gender reassignment surgeries, puberty-blocking medication, and hormone therapies, and providing this care to trans youth would lead to the revocation of a health care provider's license."
"I'm not, not gonna make any secret about it. I'll be signing it," Abbott told Fox News host Harris Faulkner.
"This is about protecting children," insisted Abbott, who has refused to take any meaningful action to reduce gun violence.
"Now remember this, and that is a person under the age of eighteen, they don't have the mental capacity to make a life-changing decision to lose their sex organs. And in the State of Texas, if you're under the age of eighteen, you can't get a tattoo, you can't buy cigarettes, and so many other things. But people think that they should be able to make a decision to permanently alter their sex organs? That's just outrageous," the governor asserted. "In Texas, we believe, uh, that cutting off the child's sex organs is child abuse, and it's gonna be treated that way by law."

The Village People have sent former President Donald Trump a cease and desist order following a cover band’s performance at Mar-A-Lago last week.
Last Thursday, the former president danced his cares away poolside at Mar-a-Lago while listening to the popular song Macho Man — as performers dressed like the group danced.
On Monday, the group’s manager, Karen Willis, filed a formal cease and desist notice to the 45th president to stop further unauthorized performances or use of the music.
Willis, who happens to be the wife of the Village People’s lead singer Victor Willis, says the clip of the event — which has been circulating Twitter via @MJisMAGA — has caused a great deal of confusion for fans who mistakenly believed this was the real Village People.
