Some Conservatives favor removing Trump from office--The Tide is Turning

A Necessary Remedy for Brazen Corruption
By Daniel Larison • October 4, 2019, 11:46 AM

More evidence has emerged from the record of U.S. officials’ text messages to support the charge that the president was conditioning U.S. military assistance on Ukrainian cooperation with politically-motivated investigations:

Even if the military assistance hadn’t been linked to the corrupt favor that the president wanted, asking the Ukrainian government for help against a political rival is an egregious abuse of power. That it also apparently involved manipulating U.S. policy for the president’s personal benefit makes it that much worse. This would hardly have been the first time that the president has committed an abuse of power, but it is one of the clearest examples of abusing the power of his office for his own gain. Using public office for private benefit is the very definition of corruption, and it is what impeachment was created to punish and deter.
Yesterday, the president just blurted out more requests for foreign interference in the 2020 election:
President Trump on Thursday publicly urged China to investigate Democratic challenger Joe Biden, a new request that a foreign government assist his reelection campaign adding to the extraordinary pattern of conduct at the center of a fast-accelerating impeachment inquiry.
With his brazen and direct appeal to the Chinese, delivered before journalists assembled on the South Lawn of the White House, Trump seemed to make a mockery of the charge that he abused the power of his office by pressing his Ukrainian counterpart to examine unfounded allegations of corruption by Biden and his son Hunter.
If it weren’t so serious, it would almost be funny that the supposed nationalist is asking for foreign governments to help him against his domestic rivals. It isn’t really surprising that someone as venal as Trump would put his own interests ahead of the country’s, but it is still striking to see how shameless he is when he does it. It is Trump’s brazenness and shamelessness that make the argument for impeachment and removal that much stronger. We are not looking at an isolated incident, but a pattern of behavior that stems from the president’s lack of integrity and his willingness to abuse his position to extract personal favors to the detriment of our system of government. If he doesn’t face any consequences for this, we know that he will do more of the same, and future presidents will conclude that they can get away with similar behavior. The president has violated the public’s trust, and he has made clear that he intends to keep violating it. He should no longer be in a position to continue those violations.

Trump’s Big Mouth

After taking a shot at Biden’s son, the author turns to Trump.

The dodgy relationship between the vice president and his lobbyist/investor son is completely legitimate as a political target. But you don’t ask a foreign government to launch an investigation into your rival! You especially don’t do it when you are about to undergo an impeachment investigation for having asked the Ukrainian president to do the same thing, and having done so under an appearance of a quid pro quo.
China is not Ukraine. Ukraine was at least not a hostile country to the United States. China is our chief adversary on the world stage. And now the President of the United States has appealed to our chief adversary to investigate his top political rival. And worse, the US is now in extremely important trade negotiations with China. The president has just signaled to the Chinese that it would please him if they would investigate his political rival and his rival’s son’s business dealings in China.
It is arrogant, and it is foolish, and it might be illegal. Trump is daring the Democrats to impeach him. And he is putting his defenders in an impossible position. He did not have to do that. He and his media team could be talking about Hunter Biden and China nonstop, and compelling the media to cover it … but he did not have to appeal to China like this.
He couldn’t help himself. Because he’s Donald Trump, and he’s reckless as hell. This is the same man who, one day after dodging a Russia collusion bullet on the Mueller Report, was on the phone with the Ukrainian president asking him to investigate the Bidens.
Where does it stop? Is there anything he won’t do, or won’t say? If this is what Trump is saying in public, what is he doing behind the scenes?
Trump is making it clear why there need to be impeachment hearings. I am not saying that there should be an impeachment conviction. I don’t know yet; I’ll wait for the hearings. But he has to be reined in. This kind of conduct is disgusting.

There is also an article on Sec of State Pompeo, suggesting that if he continues as he is, he may be remembered as the worst SOS in modern history.

Anyway, it is interesting. These anti-Trump folks are called RINOs by the far Right idiotlogues.

More than 50 educators in Iowa endorse Joe Biden

In all the impeachment stuff, nice to get word from on the ground in Iowa even if it is a week or so old.

Educators endorse Biden campaign

CEDAR RAPIDS — More than 50 Iowa educators have endorsed former Vice President Joe Biden and his record of support for public schools, teachers and students.
Earlier this year, Biden released a plan to invest in children at birth, provide a path to careers for middle and high school students, provide more resources to schools and give educators the pay and respect they deserve.
“We need a president who doesn’t just understand these challenges, but who wholeheartedly commits to offering real solutions,” said Gary Anhalt of Cedar Rapids, a retired teacher, lifetime member of the National Education Association and school board member. “I’m proud to stand with Joe because he’s always stood in lockstep with our teachers, and I trust him to make sure our public school system has the tools to provide every student with the support they need to succeed.”
Kathy Ulrich, a lifetime NEA member, said no one understands better than Biden that “educators are the key to our children’s future.”
“I have every confidence that Joe will work with our education professionals to make sure they have the tools they need to prepare the next generation of students,” she said.
Polly Bukta, a former state representative, has been a Joe Biden supporter since the first time he ran for president in 1988.
“He’s always fought to improve the education system and I know if he is elected president, he will make sure that every child has a chance to succeed,” Bukta said.

Ukraine's Ex-President Says Biden Never Asked to Close Cases

On Biden from the man who should know: the former President of Ukraine.

Ukraine’s recently departed president, Petro Poroshenko, says that Joe Biden never asked him to open or close any criminal cases, adding to the list of Ukrainian officials saying they saw him do nothing improper involving his son.
Speaking out to the news media for the first time on the matter, Poroshenko rebutted claims made by President Donald Trump and his allies that Biden, as U.S. vice president, sought the ouster of the country’s prosecutor general in 2016 to stop an investigation of a natural gas company where Hunter Biden sat on the board.
“The former vice president, at least in personal conversations, didn’t raise any requests to open or close any concrete cases,” Poroshenko said in a statement to Bloomberg News in response to questions. Poroshenko made similar comments to CNN and the Los Angeles Times in recent days.
Trump and his personal lawyer, Rudy Giuliani, have been pushing, without evidence, an accusation that Biden was abusing his role as the Obama administration’s point person on Ukraine to help his son. Trump’s telephone conversation with Poroshenko’s successor, Volodymyr Zelenskiy, in which he pressed Ukraine to investigate, is at the heart of a House impeachment inquiry.
Other current and former Ukrainian officials have also said they saw no substance to the accusations against Biden.
In his statement, Poroshenko said Viktor Shokin resigned as prosecutor general in 2016 after what he called “massive campaigns” by activists, members of parliament and the media seeking his removal. He noted that more than two-thirds of Parliament members voted in favor of Shokin’s resignation. Poroshenko accepted it, he said, “to restore public confidence and trust” in the prosecutor general’s office and as a way to “move the country forward.”
Poroshenko also said that Ukraine didn’t interfere in the 2016 U.S. election, rejecting an argument advanced by Trump and Giuliani as they’ve sought to undermine the origins of Special Counsel Robert Mueller’s probe into Russian election interference. He said he’d always sought to enlist “bipartisan support” for Ukraine in the U.S.

Biden's Super Tuesday strategy

From Politico (in case you avoid it)

While still counting on a good showing in Iowa, New Hampshire and Nevada with an especially strong showing in South Carolina, the Biden campaign is investing in Super Tuesday states organization. Politico calls it an “in an insurance policy against Warren’s surge” in the polls, while Biden’s poll numbers have “declined” Here we go with the surge/decline stuff again. Warren has risen, but a good number of polls show Biden going up.

Joe Biden’s campaign is ramping up its investment in the Super Tuesday states, anticipating a Democratic race that narrows to two candidates by early March.
The increase in staffing across the 14 states that will vote March 3 comes as Biden’s polling numbers have declined and Elizabeth Warren’s have surged, particularly in states like Iowa and New Hampshire where she’s heavily invested in field organization.

The former vice president’s campaign is still counting on strong finishes in the four early nominating states. But in the event of weaker-than-expected performances, a built-out Super Tuesday organization would provide a fail-safe for Biden.

Many of the states on the Super Tuesday map — which includes a handful of Southern and Border states — play to his strengths among African-Americans and more moderate Democrats.
The Super Tuesday focus also serves as an insurance policy against Warren, in particular, since her appeal to white, liberal voters could mean strong finishes in places like Iowa and New Hampshire — which, in turn, could propel her momentum through Nevada and South Carolina and into the next stage of the primary.

Central to the Biden campaign’s theory is the belief that, after the Feb. 29 primary in South Carolina, the now-sprawling Democratic field would be narrowed to just two candidates. And one of them — Biden — would be far better positioned to amass delegates on a primary date that offers a windfall of roughly 1,300.

By contrast, in the four early-state contests only 155 delegates are up for grabs.
“If history is any guide, this will likely be a two-person race coming out of South Carolina, and whomever emerges from Super Tuesday with a significant delegate lead will be extremely difficult to catch,” a senior Biden official said.

I took the most recent four polls for two very different sets of results from RCP (adding in David Binder Research poll). Hispanic lawmakers eye leap to Biden

Several Congressional Hispanic Caucus members have quietly lobbied CHC Chairman Joaquin Castro to persuade his brother
Julián to drop out of the presidential race and run for Senate in Texas

09/30/2019 05:01 AM EDT

The Congressional Hispanic Caucus has largely stayed out of the presidential primary so far — partly out of respect for Julián Castro, the only Latino in the race and the brother of CHC Chairman Joaquin Castro.

But with Julián languishing at the bottom of polls with around 1 percent support, at least a handful of the group’s 38 members are on the verge of announcing their support for Joe Biden, according to sources familiar with the effort.

Their impact could provide an adrenaline boost in a Democratic contest where most campaigns are struggling to win over Hispanic voters — a bloc that will play a key role in early-state Nevada and on Super Tuesday.

Story Continued Below

“It’s kind of a work in progress, but I’m pretty confident there will be substantial Congressional Hispanic Caucus support for the vice president over the course of the next month,” said Rep. Filemon Vela (D-Texas), who, along with Reps. Vicente Gonzalez (D-Texas) and Lou Correa (D-Calif.), is leading the effort to rally the CHC behind Biden.

Biden and California Sen. Kamala Harris currently lead the Democratic primary field in CHC endorsements with three apiece.

“I know for a fact that if Biden doesn’t get elected in the primary next year, we’re gonna have Trump as a president again,” said Gonzalez, who switched his endorsement earlier this month from Julián Castro to Biden.

Ukraine must investigate Joe Biden's son, says ex-Ukrainian PM who lives in MOSCOW! (UPDATED)

From Wikipedia: Mykola Azarov

a Ukrainian politician who was the Prime Minister of Ukraine from 11 March 2010 to 27 January 2014. He was the First Vice Prime Minister and Finance Minister from 2002 to 2005 and again from 2006 to 2007. Azarov also served ex officio as an acting Prime Minister in the First Yanukovych Government when Viktor Yanukovych ran for president at first and then upon resignation of his government.

Following the victory of Viktor Yanukovych in the 2010 presidential election, Azarov succeeded Yanukovych as leader of the Party of Regions, and was appointed as Prime Minister in March 2010.[1][2] In Janiary 2014, after weeks of Euromaidan protests and the 2014 Hrushevskoho Street riots[nb 1], Azarov offered his letter of resignation.[4] Since July 2014, Azarov has been on the international wanted list for alleged abuse of power.

A good Russian asset post from a man on the international wanted list for alleged abuse of power! Just the sort of man to push the GOP/Trump Biden plot.

At least the article mentioned this.

Azarov, who was prime minister from 2010-2014, is himself wanted by Ukrainian authorities for alleged abuse of power. An Interpol red notice issued in 2015 at the request of Ukrainian authorities said he was wanted on accusations of charges including embezzlement and misappropriation.

Azarov denies any wrongdoing and Reuters cannot determine whether there is any active investigation on him.

Azarov said he was not aware of any evidence suggesting wrongdoing on Hunter Biden's part, but said it was in the Ukrainian public interest to ascertain the legality of his activities.

I peeked at a conservative blog -- scary stuff; Go there at your own risk!

Just a sample (note the undercurrent of violence in some of them!)

The Global Swamp Creatures are all over the place working hard to destroy Trump in hope's of starting a Civil War! The leader is George Soros along with Hussein Obama, SocialistCrats, the Rothchilds, etc., etc., etc.
Today, its a socialist globalist big government control of our country vs a nationalist republic based on liberty and free enterprise. and yes this is a civil war and the hope is it remains relatively blood free but the effort by the left to disarm and tax the population into submission is akin to another big gun fired into FT Sumter.
... there is a civil war and we are in the middle of it.. just hasn't been any gun battles... at this point

I firmly believe from the bottom of my heart, that Trump is going to give 150% in this job as POTUS. His heart and soul will be in it all the way, his intentions are in the right place and he has surrounded himself with intelligent people.

Kind of incredible.
