Uber users are ignorant, especially liberal Uber users

What’s really going on is the desire of businesses to chop wages and benefit costs while also limiting their vulnerability to lawsuits, which can happen when salaried employees are mistreated. The burden of economic risk is shifted even further onto workers, who lose the security and protections of the New-Deal-era social insurance programs that were created when long-term employment was the norm.

<snip>

rowing use of contingent workers (in “gigs”) came when capitalists sought to respond to gains by labor through the early 1970s, and in response to the victories capital won in the rise of the neoliberal era. Because contingent workers were usually not covered by union contracts or other legal safeguards, employers hired them to regain leverage over workers lost when unionized workers gained protection against unjust dismissal, and courts extended these protections to non-union workers under the “implicit contract” doctrine.

Unfortunately, liberals who support this libertarian economic model are too intellectually lazy to read this article because they're affraid of what they might find: they've been duped by the billionaire class just as their Republican counterparts have been for decades.

Meanwhile, Chicago cab drivers shut down service to both airports for 2 hours yesterday to protest Mayor Rahm Emmanuel's proposal to open the airports to Uber.

Follow the money:
Mayor Rahm Emmanuel is shilling for his multi-millionaire and billionaire cronies, his brother, Hollywood mogul Ari Emmanuel, and Amazon's Jeff Bezos, both of whom, among others, are heavily invested in Uber.

Full-Time Uber drivers are fools. One should read their complaints forum and lawsuit page. They're underinsured, responsible for their own maintenance (that's huge driving on Chicago roads), underwater on auto lease payments TO UBER, chasing an illusion that they'll make upto $5000/week as Uber has advertised. Do they even know Uber is in a furious race to replace them with self-driving cars?

There are 6 main reasons your Uber driver isn't driving a cab:

1. They're too lazy to take the city mandated chauffeur class and exam
2. They are reckless and have a terrible driving record and can't get a job driving a cab
3. They have DUIs
4. They can't pass a criminal background check
5. They can't pass drug tests
6. They can't pass a physical exam

Inside Job Numbers: Temporary Jobs Count

Inside Job Numbers: Temporary Jobs Count

Something about jobs numbers that no one ever talks about, that is, assuming they're even aware of this.

Temporary jobs count!

Democrats play the role of Republicans in this debate today. Just as they talk about Obama's record breaking stock market as evidence of his prowess in managing the recovery, so too do they cite his job numbers. So much cheerleading, they try to quash any analysis of the numbers. But they should because they're missing something really distorted about the recovery: temporary jobs count. The lesson we lose when we ignore this aspect of job numbers (more important than underemployment IMO) is the disdain corporations have for labor. Specifically, they go to great lengths to deny workers what labor fought for 100 years ago: a living wage and benefits. What happened to those $25/hr jobs? Why are workers making $14/hr? Are employers really not willing to pay that wage? Actually, those $14 jobs are in fact $25/hr paid by the employer. The difference ($11) being paid directly to the staffing agency.

If only Democrats could put down their pom poms and talk about temporary jobs as a symptom of something terribly wrong rather than, as MSM portrays it, a positive economic indicator, they can expose the "free market" gig economic policies of conservatives.

But they (Democrats) can't, because it's a football game, a their side is winning right now.

Where do people here come down on Uber et. al.?

Great opportunity for thousands of part-timers, fair competition. Cool app!

Unfair competition to middle class professionals, subject to regulations and restrictions, trying to provide for their family. Another example of libertarian "race to the bottom" economics wherein technology is ahead of the law.

Woot! Woot! The DOL is taking my claim!

In May, I filed a complaint against my then employer on the grounds of unfair labor practices, namely, expecting its employees to work off the clock and be happy they have a job, ie, wage theft. It's pathetic that it's impossible to get your coworkers to come along. We all talk among ourselves about working evenings and on weekends, but their attitude is that of one who has Corporate Stockholm Syndrome and they side with the abuser.

Anyway, the DOL wrote me stating they'll be conducting an audit of this company.

In some ways, it's like Stockholm Syndrome around here

Who blew up the world economy?
Crooks and banksters

How do fix the world economy?
Hand $trillions to the crooks and banksters

June 3, 2015

Lol Preacher sheshe! Don't let hypocrisy stop you!

I'm sorry you lost your livelihood, too. The world imploded because all of the presidents are trickle down believers. What idiot would give $TRILLIONS to the criminals while the middle class crumbled.

And why do you defend Obama for doing this? Shock Doctrine response to crisis aimed at bailing out those responsible.

Good on ya, sheshe! Side with the offender like a victim of abuse.

June 3, 2015

Really you guys?

the only way out is to give the crooks and robbers what they want at the barrel of a gun?

Do you remember what Iceland said to the motherfuckers and what happened to their economy after?

REMEMBER?!!!

June 3, 2015

That's because our Presidents, all of them...

are proponents of Trickle Down economics. Obama had trillions of $ to throw around in his first months in office and gave it all to the white, male douchebags who blew up the world.

And now jobs are trickling down and all the idiots rejoice because they forgot Obama proved he's a trickle down believer in his first few months.

May 13, 2015

the "we agree on 90%" meme was effective! Obama proves

... yet again how easy it is to manipulate Dems.

May 13, 2015

Some policies are much bigger than others

TPP isn't a single vote. It's making major economic policy decisions.

It's like saying Hillary's war vote was just one vote and we're not living with the repercussions 12 years later.

Don't be so myopic.
