femmocrat's JournalThose big things don't overwhelm me.
I can't do much about them except my own small efforts to conserve and to be a good person.
What actually overwhelms me is family responsibilities. I guess I can't do much about those either except pray and hope. I just keep putting one foot in front of the other and try to keep busy or at least distracted..
Yardwork is a great stress-reliever for me.
Kathleen Kane to face trial for perjury and other charges:
Pennsylvania Attorney General Kathleen Kane will face a criminal trial on charges of leaking confidential information, then lying about it under oath and ordering a subordinate to spy on the investigation into her actions, a judge ruled Monday.
After a hearing in Norristown at which prosecutors outlined their case against Kane, Magisterial Judge Cathleen Kelly Rebar said there was enough evidence to hold Kane for a full trial.
Prosecutors say Kane broke the law by orchestrating a leak to a newspaper reporter in a bid to embarrass a foe. Using excerpts from Kane's testimony before the grand jury that investigated that leak, prosecutors attempted to show that the attorney general lied about her actions when questioned under oath.

If convicted of perjury, she could face up to seven years behind bars.

Pennsylvania Attorney General Kathleen Kane is being charged with perjury, obstructing administration of law and other charges that allege she orchestrated a campaign to leak secret information, then lied to a grand jury about it.
Montgomery County District Attorney Risa Ferman said Kane is accused of a scheme in which "we allege she orchestrated to leak confidential investigative information and secret grand jury" information, then lied to a grand jury about that.
You're right!
I just couldn't manage it. I can get my vicarious "thrills" from reading about your adventures. hahahaha
My BFF from work has 3 horses and I love hearing about them, but that's enough for me. Way too much work, although I know how much she loves them.
I love reading your horse stories.
I love horses and always wanted one. Fortunately there are a lot of them around here to look at and I don't have all the work.
It is also my wedding anniversary.
If you can believe it -- 47 years! (We were very young! LOL)
I was going to add older women.
We are invisible. The only time you see an "older woman" on TV is in a Cialis ad, and they are still 20 years younger than the men. OK, that isn't a good benchmark.
Pretty, younger women are valued, older women.... invisible. Nothing is geared toward us except incontinence products.
I know this is not the same as "mattering"--- I'm sure we matter to our families. Most of us, anyhow. And no one is going around targeting or killing older women as a group, TG.
A question about medical research....
Is there adequate money for research to develop new devices, or do doctors generally self-fund their inventions? If they self-fund, I have no objection to their making money from a device that could help the sick.
I understand that Oz's self-promotion is unethical, but if he actually did develop something medically beneficial, why shouldn't he -- or any other doctor-- profit from it?
I also understand the part of the article about doctors prescribing brand-name drugs and getting "kickbacks" from big pharma. But... research is expensive. Someone has to fund it.
I ask this as someone who has personal interest (not financial!) in a medical device that has been in development for at least 15 years. As far as I can determine, it is being funded by the government (NIH, maybe?) and corporate grant money. Maybe someone who works in this field can enlighten us. Thank you!
I fear that we are becoming too "used to" these events.
When the hell will the Congress grow a spine and DO something?!!!
And may the NRA rot in its own special corner of hell with all of the murderers.
"Wayward Pines"-- your thoughts on the finale? (No spoilers please!)
I missed some of the middle episodes because it was on opposite "Under the Dome". Did they lead up to the finale in those episodes?
