Today's Google Doodle: Who invented television?

The Doodle marks the 90th anniversary of the first public demonstration of the mechanical television. On Jan. 26, 1926, Scottish inventor John Logie Baird transmitted a moving image of his business partner’s face onto a screen, according to the Telegraph.

The image was blurred and measured only 3.5 by 2 in. (8.8 by 5 cm) but made history as the first live public broadcast.

In a 1926 review of the “televisor,” as the device was known, TIME praised Baird’s devise for permitting “looking in as well as listening in.” Broadcasting for the receiver, which was priced at £30, was set “to begin at once.”

I remember coming home from school and seeing a new television in the living room! It was 1953 and the first thing I can remember watching was the coronation of Queen Elizabeth in very grainy black and white. It was so exciting!

Did you see "The Nightly Show" last night?

"Trump Hate Bingo" (skit starts at 1:22).

We have about 15 inches in our part of western PA.

It has now been snowing for 24 hours, but it's much lighter this afternoon. No wind yet. We were predicted to get 4-7 inches.

It's really beautiful though. We live on a state road, as yet untouched at 2 p.m. There was an overnight backup on the Turnpike east of here. The governor sent the National Guard to rescue folks including the Duquesne Dukes basketball team:

Today's Google Doodle: Interactive and super hot!

Who was Wilbur Scoville? (Sorry, it won't let me upload the video.)

I love a good snowstorm!

I get all excited.

I went to the store today and bought extra birdseed and ingredients for a pot of homemade chicken soup. My idea of heaven. LOL

If I were independently wealthy, I would buy MSNBC.

I would ban all coverage of trump. I would restore it to its former "librul greatness" (Ha!)

Now that he has hooked up with palin, we are subjected to BOTH of them ad nauseum!

Yep, I already turned it off.... I was just peeking in to see if anything else was going on in the world.

Today's Google Doodle honors Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.:

To honor the Nobel Peace Prize recipient, Google says, "Today we're inspired to keep working towards a better future with grace and optimism."

MSNBC seems to be re-airing the entire debate.

If you missed something the first time!

Happy Birthday to Michelle Obama!

Today's Google Doodle honors fairy tale writer Charles Perrault:

There are three different ones today. I grew up reading those fairy tales; I love them!
