Daily Holidays - June 12

National Peanut Butter Cookie Day Most people are familiar with peanut butter for use on sandwiches, while peanut butter cookies are yummy snacks that can be enjoyed any time but especially on Peanut Butter Cookie Day. https://www.daysoftheyear.com/days/peanut-butter-cookie-day/

Loving Day Loving Day commemorates a date in history when the Supreme Court of America ruled to disband all anti-miscegenation laws in 1967 (laws that made mixed race marriages illegal). https://www.daysoftheyear.com/days/loving-day/

Superman Day What’s that?! There in the sky? Is it a bird? Is it a plane? No! It’s the Man of Tomorrow! Superman has gone by many names over the years, but one thing has remained the same. He has always stood for what’s best about humanity, all of our potential for terrible destructive acts, but also our choice to not act on the level of destruction we could wreak. https://www.daysoftheyear.com/days/superman-day/

My path forward

I don't know if this is acceptable to post or not, but these are my plans for the upcoming months and the General Election.

1). I am not leaving this board, it is one of several news feeds that I use and overall I find it has some usable information from time to time. I also use other sources online, so this isn't the only stop along the way. Should it come to pass that I am not able to post for some reason, I can simply lurk and read as I choose. I don't know how that would occur as I really don't get into threads and post much and try as I can to remain civil.

2). I have trashed a few candidates names in various forms on my filter function, so I don't see too much about them. Some things still crop up here and there, but I can pretty much just scroll past them.

3). I will vote in November, as there are very important state and local races going on in Missouri and I intend to participate, doing what I can do. How I vote and for what offices I choose to vote or what offices I choose to skip on the ballot are entirely my affair and will pretty much stay that way. What others choose to do, is entirely their business. I hope everyone gets out to vote and exercises their civic duty no matter who they choose to select on the ballot. That is how the system is supposed to work and I would like to see everyone registered and voting.

4). I have pretty much lost ALL interest in TV "news" and even find the Weather Channel ( or Weather Underground or whatever they are this week) to be more drama than is necessary to report what is going on about the subject. So the He said/She Said of the coming months is not of interest to me and just like professional sports is something that I will ignore. There is lots going on both in my world and the entire world that takes priority over the US Presidential Election in my view.

Life is much than politics, the results of the coming election in November and who supports who.

Daily Holidays - June 11

Gin Day Distilled spirits have been with us for a very long time, and all of them have rich histories covering the sometimes mysterious origins of their use. While spirits have long been used medicinally, only one started as a medicine and then became a mixer for one of the most important medicines in history. This delicious, smooth drink is distilled from the berries of the Juniper tree, and can trace its origins back to an older drink from Denmark known as Jenever. https://www.daysoftheyear.com/days/gin-day/

World Doll Day World Doll Day was established on June 14, 1986 by a lovely lady named Mildred Seeley, to celebrate not only dolls, but caring, nurturing love and the people offering it, in general. This day is symbolised by Boots Tyner’s logo depicting a child holding a bisque doll, as a symbol of the significance of dolls in early childhood for both girls and boys.https://www.daysoftheyear.com/days/world-doll-day/

Corn on the Cob Day Love corn on the cob? If so, Corn On The Cob Day is for you! Share your passion with the world, and consider visiting Plainview, Minneapolis for a variety of parades, festivities and… yes… more corn on the cob than you can eat. https://www.daysoftheyear.com/days/corn-on-the-cob-day/

Daily Holidays - June 10

National Iced Tea Day Not only is Iced Tea refreshing on a hot summer’s day, it’s also got some great health benefits and there are lots of different flavours to enjoy. Iced Tea Day is a great excuse to enjoy this refreshing beverage! Don’t be afraid to add some lemon or sugar to taste, or even ginger to help a sore throat. https://www.daysoftheyear.com/days/iced-tea-day/

National Ballpoint Pen Day On 10th June 1943 the Bíró brothers, László and György, became owners of US Patent 2,390,636 – better known around the world as the ball point pen. The Hungarian inventors’ new pen, inspired by the quick-drying inks used by professional printers, was as remarkable as the first fountain pen had been the century before. https://www.daysoftheyear.com/days/ball-point-pen-day/

Daily Holidays - June 9

Jerky Day Jerky Day is a new celebration, having been started in 2012, and it was obviously started to help boost sales of the dried jerky treat that so many people enjoy. However, despite that, the popularity of the salty treat means that it is already a popular day to celebrate, and there is no greater way than to head to a local barbecue or event that has been set up especially to celebrate the occasion. https://www.daysoftheyear.com/days/jerky-day/

Donald Duck Day Donald Duck Day commemorates the debut appearance of Donald Duck on June 9th 1934, when he featured in the Silly Symphony cartoon The Wise Little Hen. https://www.daysoftheyear.com/days/donald-duck-day/

Daily Holidays - June 8

World Oceans Day Oceans Day is a yearly event to celebrate and honour the bodies of water that join us all. The oceans generate most of the oxygen we breathe, they regulate our climate, and they feed us. https://www.daysoftheyear.com/days/world-oceans-day/

Best Friends Day Life wouldn’t be the same without best friends. They’re the friends that can be counted on to be there at a moment’s notice. The ones who love, laugh, support, and cherish – in both good and bad times. Friends can be celebrated on any day of the year, but what better day than Best Friends Day? The day is largely unofficial, with no clear clue as to its origins, but that doesn’t stop the millions who mark the day each year from enjoying their best friends. Celebrations can be as low key or as flamboyant as desired. A picnic in the park, a get together over coffee, or a nice meal in a favourite restaurant are popular ways to celebrate a close friendship. Should distance keep best friends apart, it’s enough to pick up the phone to wish that special person a very happy Best Friends Day. https://www.daysoftheyear.com/days/best-friends-day/

Upsy Daisy Day Upsy Daisy Day encourages you to face the day positively, and to get up ‘gloriously, gratefully and gleefully’ each morning. https://www.daysoftheyear.com/days/upsy-daisy-day/

Daily Holidays - June 7

National Chocolate Ice Cream
Day The exact origins of Chocolate Ice Cream Day are unknown, but few people will need a reason to celebrate an event that requires the eating of chocolate ice cream. Vanilla is considered the most popular flavor of ice cream, but ever since the Italians froze hot chocolate in 1692, chocolate has been a close contender. The celebratory day itself was likely started by an ice cream manufacturer to encourage greater sales of the delightful dessert, but the question remains whether there was really any need to encourage people to eat more chocolate ice cream. https://www.daysoftheyear.com/days/chocolate-ice-cream-day/

VCR Day In this digital age, how many people still own collections of VCR box sets of favourite TV shows, old favourites and movies that are unavailable or simply haven’t been purchased on DVD? VCR day is dedicated to the humble video, and celebrates the simple elegance of analogue recording and playback. https://www.daysoftheyear.com/days/vcr-day/

Daily Holidays - June 6

Yo Yo Day Yo-Yo Day is celebrated annually on the 6th June. It is no coincidence that this corresponds with the birthday of famous entrepreneur Donald Duncan Sr, who in the 1930s, got into the yo-yo business. https://www.daysoftheyear.com/days/yo-yo-day/

Thank God It's Monday Day As a schoolchild once complained: “Mondays are bad enough, but why do they have to be at the start of the week?” It’s no easier for the workers of the world: on average, we struggle to the office for over 2,000 working Mondays, to see the same glum faces. https://www.daysoftheyear.com/days/thank-god-its-monday-day/

Drive In Movie Day Drive-In Movie Day is the anniversary of the opening of the first drive-in movie theater, which occurred in Camden, New Jersey. https://www.daysoftheyear.com/days/drive-in-movie-day/

Gardening Exercise Day It is a day when people are encouraged to get off the couch, head out into the garden, and tend their patches. Not only does this help ensure that the garden looks good, but it also offers a healthy means of getting some exercise, while enjoying the benefits that fresh air can bring. https://www.daysoftheyear.com/days/gardening-exercise-day/

Daily Holidays - June 5

World Environment Day Environment Day aims to raise awareness of the importance of respecting and doing your bit for the environment. Why not walk to work rather than driving, or take steps to reduce your carbon footprint in other ways? https://www.daysoftheyear.com/days/environment-day/

Sausage Roll Day There’s a treat that we poor colonists have rarely ever enjoyed, it’s a delicious meat-filled pastry that is flaky, flavorful, and all around amazing. If you’ve never had these savory filled puff pastries it is far past time to add them to your menu, and Sausage Roll Day is the day to do it! Each year we celebrate this amazing little pastry and the country it came from, and this year so can you! Just delve right in and read up on where it came from, when it’s used, and how America has been missing out on this best of all treats… until now! https://www.daysoftheyear.com/days/sausage-roll-day/

Hot Air Balloon Day The hot air balloon is the oldest form of flight technology used for carrying humans, following the first manned flight in 1783. The balloon itself consists of an envelope, which is used to contain the hot air, and a gondola, where passengers and a means of creating hot air are typically housed. The heated air inside the envelope has a lower density than that of the cold air outside, and this causes the balloon to rise. Hot Air Balloon Day is an annual celebration that marks the impact hot air balloons have had on travel and leisure. https://www.daysoftheyear.com/days/hot-air-balloon-day/

Cancer Survivor Day This day is an annual celebration of Life. This is to raise awareness of Cancer Survivors – In the U.S. alone there are over 11 million survivors, and to raise funds for Cancer Research Charities. https://www.daysoftheyear.com/days/cancer-survivors-day/
