Gov. Kemp bans large gatherings, orders shelter in place for 'medically fragile'

Gov. Brian Kemp will issue an executive order to those who are “medically fragile” to shelter in place.

Executive order goes into effect noon Tuesday and will end April 6.Kemp banned large gatherings of more than 10 people and ordered bars and nightclubs closed.

Families who get SNAP will get an additional $100 in nutrition benefits.

The state has conducted 1,245 tests, and more than 3800 tests have been done by private labs.Kemp says more than 20 testing sites have been set up across the state. You must have a referral from your doctor to get a test at any of these sites.

UPDATE: Fulton closing schools Tuesday after teacher tests positive for coronavirus

Fulton County will close all its schools and offices Tuesday after a teacher was determined to be infected with coronavirus.

In a press conference today, Fulton Superintendent Mike Looney said the affected employee was a teacher who taught at both Bear Creek and Woodland Middle Schools. 

In addition, Looney dismissed Creekside High School due to its proximity to the school and the fact Creekside shares staff with Bear Creek middle school. In addition, he said many families had children in both schools. 

Bear Creek and Creekside are located in Fairburn; Woodland is located in East Point.
