Experts: Donald Trump Is Lying About His Fundraising Haul

We just started our online campaign. Online mailing [Tuesday] did over $3 million. Donald, in an unprecedented move, agreed to match the first $2 million personally that came in. So we did over $5 million online yesterday, and we’re just starting the effort,” national finance chairman Steve Mnuchin said in an interview with the Fox Business Network.

Meanwhile, Trump spokesperson Hope Hicks told marketing industry publication Advertising Age that the Trump campaign raised “$3.3 million on Tuesday and $3.4 million” on Thursday.

If those figures sound fantastical, it’s because they’re likely to be bogus.

Using a very sophisticated digital marketing operation, the 2012 Obama campaign’s most successful appeal for donations, with the subject line “I will be outspent,” brought in $2.5 million.

“It’s just not plausible for Trump to have raised what he claims online from one email,” said Julia Rosen, the Director of Marketing at ActBlue, a progressive firm. “The Trump campaign has failed to do the basic digital organizing work, like collecting email addresses at every available opportunity. That’s meant he has an exponentially smaller list, and because he hasn’t been running a modern engagement program with the few people that are on the list, it’s likely the average list member is not very responsive to the rare asks Trump makes of them.

Neither Trump’s digital director, Brad Parscale, nor its spokesperson, Hope Hicks, returned requests for comment.

Snapping a picture of your hotel room could help stop human trafficking

Snapping a picture inside your hotel room could help protect children across the globe.

The TraffickCam app enables travelers to submit pictures of hotel rooms around the world. The images are matched against a national database used by police.

“You just enter your hotel name and your room number. You take four pictures, and you submit them to the website,” Washington University Researcher and TraffickCam developer Abby Stylianou said. “And then those become part of the pipeline that law enforcement can use to track down where the victims are being trafficked.”

Stylianou was among the speakers at a Human Trafficking Town Hall at Maritz Tuesday.

“Right now there are pictures posted every day. Hundreds of pictures, in every city around the United States, posted online, that show victims of trafficking, in hotel rooms posed on beds,” she said.

Trump was only billionaire to receive tax credit for middle class...might not be a billionaire

Donald Trump is either very lucky or hiding something.

The flame-throwing Republican contender for the White House appears to be the only New York City billionaire who snagged a tax break aimed at middle class homeowners, raising even more questions about his alleged billions.

An analysis of property records for 38 Big Apple billionaires on the “Forbes 400” list conducted by Crain’s New York Business found Trump was the only one to receive the STAR tax credit.

That credit is reserved for homes that make under $500,000 and gives those entitled to it around $300 off their tax bill.

Photo of a terrified girl fleeing from a peacock becomes a hilarious meme

This image of a screaming child tearing along a path while being pursued by a peacock was posted to Imgur by xgovernmentx with the caption: 'Our trip to the petting zoo did not go as planned'

An image of five-year-old Eva, tearing along a path while being pursued by a peacock at a North Carolina zoo was posted to Imgur by her mother with the caption: 'Our trip to the petting zoo did not go as planned.'
'Eva got closer to the peacock to see his feathers on display, he let out a loud squawk and she turned on her heel immediately in absolute terror,' Eva's mom told Buzzfeed. 'This all happened within a half a second.'
Eva wasn't terrified for long, her mother said.
'She was absolutely fine almost instantly and on to the next animal to see,' she said.
After it was posted online, the hilarious picture was immediately seized upon by Photoshop fans who couldn't resists altering the image to make it even funnier with the additions of characters such as Prince Charles, Usain Bolt and the T. Rex from Jurassic Park.

Violent confrontation between panhandler and business man caught on video

DENVER -- It was an ugly scene that played out at one of Denver's busiest places, at one of the busiest times of day. A man leaving work from a downtown office was assaulted by a panhandler who was part of a group of "travelers" who police say regularly congregate on the 16th Street Mall.

&quot The panhandler) was saying something like, 'Internet yuppie scum’ at the office worker,” said Stephen Garcia, who walked up on the assault and soon got involved.

Garcia said he has walked the 16th Street Mall most afternoons since it opened but had never been forced to confront violence until last week.

"This is the first time I'd seen somebody engage with a person just trying to go home," Garcia said.

Video of the incident shows Garcia step in as the businessman was surrounded. As the man who initiated the assault steps toward him again, Garcia gives him a shove telling him to stay back.

That’s when several other travelers get involved, exchanging shoves and punches with Garcia. The video shows a security guard looked on but failed to do much, allowing the incident to continue until a Denver police officer arrived.

"The police seemed to think that we just wanted to walk away and forget about it,” Garcia said.

Trump's failed Baja resort fits pattern in candidate's business record

Trump's failed Baja resort fits pattern in candidate's business record
Trump Ocean Resort brought in $32.5 million in buyer deposits; 250 buyers lost their deposits.

Simms, then an aerospace purchasing agent living in Los Angeles, said she used her life savings to pay a deposit of just over $50,000 for unit No. 602, a one-bedroom overlooking the Pacific.

In the end, nothing at all was built at Trump Ocean Resort, and Simms lost her money. As did about 250 other buyers, most of them from Southern California.

“When the project went south, no one from the Trump organization even contacted us to take responsibility,” Sapol said. “We were misled — all the marketing materials, the brochures, the name of the building, the fact that Trump’s daughter was at the event, saying she and her brother bought units.”

Ivanka Trump later told CBS News that her family had “lived up to our obligation under a license agreement.”

“We were never the developer of this project, and that was made clear,” she said. “We never took anyone’s deposit.”

Trump, she said, was just the brand. “I am sorry for everyone, but we are in the same boat,” she said.

The Trumps did collect $500,000 in licensing fees from developers Jason Grosfeld and Adam Fisher, the principals behind Irongate and P.B. Impulsores.

Homeless Grumpy Cat Adopted by Home inspector

When Paul Tateosian and Jason Burnside showed up to an empty house in Bradenton, Florida, for a home inspection, the last thing they expected to find was somebody still living there. But that’s exactly what happened when Tateosian, a real estate agent assistant, stumbled upon a little orange furball with a particularly grumpy face.

“I was walking around the around looking at the roof and when I got around to the back and this little guy was just sitting there,” Tateosian told ABC News of the extremely thin, matted Persian kitten he immediately nicknamed Garfield. “His face, he just looked so upset, like he was so bent out of shape. I just went up to him and I bent down and even though he looked really upset, he was really happy to see us.”

The kitten was so skinny you could see its ribs.

Although extremely grumpy-looking, the kitten couldn’t have been friendlier with the two men.

“I set the backseat down in the truck and set a towel down and she just went to sleep,” Burnside explained. “I got her home and my girlfriend and her friend, who works at a vet's office in town, helped clean her up because her tail was all matted. Her tail was so mangled she couldn’t even pick it up. We got her in the house and wrapped her in a towel and shaved her tail and cut all the nastiness away from her, and she was just happy as can be. It took her about a day to start eating again.”

Burnside’s mother just recently lost her pet cat, so she is now thrilled to be adopting Garfield, who is now named Girdy because they’ve discovered she’s actually a female.

“She has an appointment at the vet’s office the beginning of next week to get all checked out to make sure she’s good to go,” said Burnside. “We got her all cleaned up and taken care of. She’s in good hands now.”
