FUCK EVERYONE who did not vote for Hillary Clinton.
I don't care why you didn't vote for her. I don't care if you thought she was an oligarch or didn't like her voice or her laugh or believed she wasn't liberal enough or she just didn't "inspire" you (what the hell is up with that anyway - are you 8 years old who won't eat your pancakes unless they're shaped like happy faces?). Unless you were too ill or otherwise physically incapable of voting or your vote was suppressed, fuck everyone who did not vote for the only candidate who could have prevented what is happening to this country.

They silently, respectfully, stoically made an appeal to our shared compassion on behalf of people who do not have a voice.
...
This should have been enough ... We should have told these players that we hear them and that we are as grieved about the premature deaths of young black men as they are.
...
Trump did what hes done all the way through the campaign, election, and his Presidency: he exploited easily manipulated, angry white people looking for someone to ratify their prejudice and consent to their enmity. He purposefully used his position of power to try and steamroll people of color asking to be treated equally, into silenceand in the process, he and his supporters proved exactly why these athletes were kneeling to begin with.
This predatory President, spineless NFL owners, and complicit white fans treating players like expendable animalsall conspired to made Colin Kaepernicks point for him.
...
You can pretend this is about when and how these athletes are protestingor just admit that its the fact that theyre protesting at all that really offends you, and you wish theyd stop inconveniencing you with truth that youd rather not deal with.
This is about what its always been about: us choosing to defend white privilege or black lives.

What would happen if Democrats changed how a nominee is selected?
FYI. - this is not an attempt to re-fight or revisit the 2016 primaries. It is merely a concrete illustration of how the rules work, which is helpful in light of the current efforts by the DNC to tighten up its rules for 2018, 2020 and beyond.
Until 2015, Sanders "had no idea" that so many blacks are held in jail for months and years
because they cant make bail.
A previous thread quoting Soledad OBriens Twitter response to this comment devolved into arguments about whether OBriens comment was accurate, which completely detracted from the bottom line - Bernies admitted lack of awareness of a serious and fundamental concern among African Americans and others.
So, Im reposting excerpts from the source to focus on what Bernie said and to eliminate the opportunity for deflection and subterfuge.
So, three years later, to be willing to co-host a public event in front of over 4,000 people, alongside six radical women of color, without ever asking what they would be talking about or knowing if they would plan on calling him out publicly yet again, was a pretty big deal.
Backstage, I met privately with Sanders, and was immediately struck by his vastly improved mastery of core issues around criminal justice reform. But it wasnt just his newfound fluency on these issues that surprised me it was his emotion.
Its disgusting, Shaun, that our country is basically criminalizing poverty. Ill be honest with you. I really didnt know this was happening. I had no idea hundreds of thousands of Americans, particularly African-Americans, were being held in jail, for months or years, even though theyve never been convicted of a crime, simply because they cant afford bail, Sanders told me in a tiny dressing room backstage before the event.
Ive learned a lot, he continued. I see the racial disparities clearer than ever. I want to help just tell me how I can best help and well do it. I was touched. He wasnt reading from a script. He was admitting to me, as he soon would from the stage, in front of thousands of people, that he hasnt always gotten this quite right.

Bernie admits need to get schooled on African-American incarceration*

* This OP was originally title "Bernie gets schooled on African-American incarceration AGAIN ... this time by Soledad O'Brien."
I've edited the OP because Soledad O'Brien took down her tweet that responded to a quote from Bernie Sanders by referencing another source regarding the number of African Americans incarcerated without bail in Vermont. Soledad apparently took down her tweet after it was pointed out that, by leaving out the word "proportionally," her tweet may didn't accurately reference @mic's comment.
After O'Brien took down her tweet, I thought about deleting this OP. But I decided to leave it up with a different title and an explanation because: 1) the discussion that followed is interesting; 2) contrary to some of the claims in this thread and elsewhere, Soledad did NOT misquote Bernie or quote him out of context - the quote of his she included in the tweet was accurate. The problem with her tweet involved a different tweet that she may have misinterpreted, but did not in anyway mischaracterize what Bernie said; and 3) Bernie's comment revealed a pretty startling lack of knowledge about a topic he should be well-versed in and that's worthy of discussion.
