madamesilverspurs's JournalNo recess appointments, eh?
So, Republican activist judges deny Obama the same kind of recess appointments that were made by the previous president who just happened to have his job thanks to the actions of higherup Republican activist judges.
Yeah, got it.

The filibuster conundrum
Harry's deal would mean more if McConnell were trustworthy, which he isn't. But in that case, the deal wouldn't have been necessary in the first place, would it?

LTTE, submitted today
An open letter to members of Congress, to our state legislators, to our governors, to our county commissions, to our city councils and our sheriffs:
We all watched in horror as events unfolded in Aurora. In Tucson. At Columbine. At Fort Hood and Virginia Tech and so many bloody others. Then, the shootings at Newtown happened and our horror was compounded. The massacre of children compels universal revulsion.
Its time for common sense when it comes to firearms, and the President has made a good start. There is no intent to confiscate all guns; rather, we are called to exercise, at long last, a measure of reason.
The driving license in my wallet testifies to my having passed a test that confirms my understanding of traffic laws, that my vision is suitable to the operation of a vehicle, and that I performed an acceptable demonstration of my ability to safely operate a vehicle. Additionally, my low insurance rate reflects a long history of safe driving. Why should the use of firearms be less monitored?
Thats not a facetious question, especially considering that cars and trucks, unlike firearms, are not designed to maim and kill. My driving privileges come with the inherent obligation to be mindful of the safety and well-being of others. That said, should I park an Abrams tank in my driveway my neighbors would have every reason to doubt that I plan to use it for commuting. I have the right to drive because I have met all the legal requirements for doing so, and those requirements have never suggested that the government intends to confiscate my car. We really can apply the same common sense to firearms. And we should.

The Secretary of State,
it seems to me, has better things to do than act as foil for a bunch of posturing ignorati pretending to be relevant.
This really is like watching little boys discovering how to "write" in the snow. They are embarrassing the country in front of the whole world. Again.

Rohrbacker (sp?) is impressive
in his demonstration of both ignorance and rudeness. Yuck.

Rep. Janak Joshi: Trust Me, I’m a Physician!
...from Sundays Colorado Right to Life rally at the Colorado capitol of state Republican Rep. Janak Dr. Nick Joshi, speaking in support of his House Bill 13-1032this years iteration of the GOPs perennial fetal homicide backdoor anti-abortion bill.
...
JOSHI: We have lot of work ahead of us, particularly this year, uh, some of you might have read in Denver Post two days ago, the Speaker of the House made a comment about my bill, that Republicans havent learned their lesson yet. Mr. Speaker, what lesson do you want us to learn? Im a physician. [Pols emphasis] I know about the life. Dont try to teach me anything.
Now folks, as soon as we heard that Rep. Joshi used the words Im a physician in reference to himself, an alarm bell went off in our head. Probably because of this:

Heading for the reviewing stand, not liking this,
the drum cadence of the 18th century marine group. Sad memories associated . . .
