While watching Cspan as the House voted to begin the repeal of the Affordable Care Act, I called Ken Bucks D.C. office 202-225-4676 to comment. A very polite young man answered the phone.
My comment: Like me, Ken Buck is a cancer survivor. Unlike many of his constituents, upon receiving the cancer diagnosis Mr. Buck had no fear that his health care would be denied. I ask that Mr. Buck think about that in the course of the present deliberations.
After a pause, the young man responded, Uh, well, I will convey your message. He then asked for my zip code, thanked me for calling, and the call ended.

I intend to keep calling. And calling. And calling...

After watching Biden's surprise ---
I watched the extraordinary and very moving ceremony wherein President Obama surprised Joe Biden with the Presidential Medal of Freedom with Distinction, marveling once more at the easy grace, humility, and dignity of these two men.
Then I tried to imagine something similar with Trump and Pence; how heartbreakingly sad that even the imagining is impossible.

Reassurance??
Senator Mike Lee (R-UT) just reassured us that the ACA repeal has a built-in three year delay before it kicks it. He said that gives congress three years to prepare a replacement.
So, Senator, you expect us to believe that youre going to do in three years what you havent been able to do in the last six years? Really? REALLY???

It's 1:30am in DC.
Cory Gardner, one of my senators dammit, is presiding over the vote to begin repealing the ACA. He's thoroughly enjoying shutting down any Democratic commentary.
I just called his office and left a message, letting him know that I'm one constituent who doesn't appreciate his part in a measure that will unavoidably result in the deaths of many Americans.
What the fuck is happening to this country!

1812?
Okay, I switched to Colorado's version of Cspan to see if there was coverage from the state legislature, and there wasn't; but the screen-saver running was accompanied by Tchaikovsky's "1812 Overture."
Eeek.
Also squicks.

On January 20th...
... will John Roberts screw up the oath of office like he did with Obama?
Can't help wondering.
