Andrea Mitchell is interviewing Boss Hogg.

Pafreakingthetic, MSNBC. If we wanted to watch slop we'd be tuning in to Fox.

"Tomorrow we begin a new tomorrow."

So says Mitt Romney on this last day before the election.

Ye gods.

All those phone calls! And the doorbell keeps ringing!

Yeah, people are growing weary of the campaigns. But every time Romney opens his mouth he provides further incentive for our GOTV efforts. My part of that is the data entry for phone banks and canvassing. For all the complaining about the knocks and calls, I've decided that some people just like those phone calls. At this point, what else could possibly explain those who are still undecided?

G'night, y'all. It's been a lonnnnggg day of entering data. Two more days...

You'll have to forgive me...

Not many of my friends are Republicans. But one of those just shared a Romney campaign bit on facebook, a graphic that promotes voting for Romney in order to get rid of "Obamacare". She knew me back when I could barely walk, so her stance is personally troubling for me. Anyway, here's the response I posted on facebook:

For over twenty years I struggled with increasingly debilitating physical difficulties, unable to get health insurance because of those pre-existing conditions. The bitter irony is the worsening of those temporary conditions into permanent disability simply because I COULD NOT access the doctors who had the ability to help. The Affordable Care Act, aka Obamacare, opens the doors to doctors offices for people like me, for people like my nephew with cerebral palsy, for people like my sister-in-law with multiple sclerosis, like my friends’ children with cystic fibrosis and asthma; it is no longer legal to charge women higher rates than men; seniors are no longer penalized with higher premiums for the crime of living longer.

So you’ll have to forgive me if I cannot support your vote for Romney on the basis of his promise to get rid of “Obamacare.” Going back to the way it was would be, to put it mildly, needlessly cruel to millions of Americans.

Mitt won't lose

graciously. You can see it in his face, hear it in his voice.

He's working up to, at the very least, a colossal snit.

Another moment of hmmmmm...

Back in early '08 a friend, who had just entered her 40s, mentioned that she'd never voted. Being curious, and more than a little surprised, I initiated a conversation about the importance of voting. It was an interesting chat, given that she's quite adamant about her opinions; but I did let her know that her opinions would have a bit more credibility if she had the courage to back them up. A few days later she called to say she'd thought about the things we'd talked about, and that she'd gone to the county clerk's office and registered to vote. She made it a point to mention that she'd registered as a Republican, I made it a point to welcome her to the conversation.

She went all gung ho for McCain-Palin, and we had a few heated discussions about the candidates. She fell in with those who were demeaning "book smart" as opposed to "street smart", and she's managed to drop the occasional Obama snark here and there; part of that comes from her dad, a right-winger with whom she's been working to reconcile. This year she's gone out of her way to post every Fox news anti-Obama dig on my facebook wall; I just delete them, there are sufficient numbers of truth-telling posts to negate any need for getting into an argument.

A couple of weeks ago she stopped posting anything about Romney. Then today she changed her profile pic to the one shown below. No comment, no explanation. Hmmmmm...
