A moment of hmmmmm...

Couple weeks back we had a visit from Joe Biden. As soon as the visit was announced, our OFA offices were swarmed with people wanting tickets. Those tickets went quickly. The day arrived, one of the first cold ones of the fall season, and we were glad the event would be held indoors. We were plum tickled to have 1600 people brave that long, cold line. This county is divided roughly in thirds, R-D-U, but Republicans dominate in elected positions, thus we tend to be viewed as a Republican community. Given that, a crowd of 1600 showing up for the Democratic Veep is something to smile about. Adding to the flavor of the day, the Republicans scheduled a counter-rally a few blocks away, their guest of honor being Craig Romney. He drew a whopping 36 people.

Today we had a visit from Paul Ryan. Being good weather, they decided to hold the event outside the building where the Biden event was held. Big grassy area, it can hold lots more than the indoor venue. Good move on their part, especially since Ryan brought entertainment with him in the person of Lee Greenwood. Attendees didn't have to shiver in the cold as they awaited their candidate. Yesterday, the newspaper ran a notice that there were still plenty of tickets available. According to press reports, the crowd was "almost 1000."

So I'm wondering - did the "enthusiasm gap" switch sides?
