Coverage

Our state's Democrats had our county organizational meetings today; same for the Republicans.

Our governor is a Democrat, as are both senators, one of whom attended briefly. Our OFA team registered more than 12K new voters in the county, and we helped the state lead the nation to President Obama's second term. We're staying busy, with teams directing energy toward election integrity, immigration, health care, gun legislation, and the environment. We're becoming a better voice in a traditionally red county. Our members are an increasingly vibrant presence, youth and age, men and women, several races, gay, straight. We've increased our office hours and already have a spate of events planned. The newspaper gave us a couple of paragraphs.

The Republicans had their star, the district's congressman. Also in attendance were the sheriff and county clerk, both having recently announced their intent to run for re-election in spite of term limits. There was colorful swag available, offered to the attendees who were predominantly older and white. We know all this because the same newspaper covered their event with a lengthy article and lots of photos. And less than 24 hours from now, one of them will complain about media's liberal bias.
