'Twas ever thus

Steve Laffey?

Okay, Rhode Island DUers.

Steve Laffey, former mayor of Cranston, is now in Colorado. He's in the republican primary, running for the House CD4 seat being vacated by Cory Gardner. He doesn't live in the district, but whatever.

So what can you tell us about Laffey?

Caption This Photo: Drop And Give Me Twenty, Mike Coffman!

According to the source of this clip, Rep. Coffman was standing nonchalantly at his gate when the impulse grabbed him to drop and start doing…folks, would you actually call those pushups? There appears to be some debate on this point. It's been suggested to us that Coffman does pushups the way he does immigration reform–kind of a half-assed effort, short of what you'd call "comprehensive."

Its b-a-a-a-ck......

Got up this morning and was surprised to hear a conversation taking place in the living room. Thing is, there wasn't supposed to be anyone in there. But, since it sounded just chatty and not angry, I put on my robe and ventured in to find out what was going on. To my great relief, no one was there. But, the conversation continued, talking about different styles of furniture. What the heck?!

Wasn't the radio. I live in what's called the garden level ( aka basement) and the radio reception is lousy to non-existent. So, I kept listening and followed the sound. It was coming from the television. According to the box that comes with the cable service, it was off. I picked up the remote and clicked "on", and the voices stopped mid-word; but the thing still wasn't on. I clicked again and it came on, showing an H&G show where they were, in fact, discussing furniture.

Yeah, I know, probably just some weird wiring thing. But it was just a couple years back when I came home one night to find a photo displayed on the television screen, a still shot of two kids on a playground, took up the whole screen. Again, the box said it was off. Clicking the remote a couple of times cleared the picture and it hasn't come back. So now the teevee is talking to me when no one's looking.

Whoda thunk

that the day would ever come when seeing a picture of Eric Cantor would make me giggle?

But here we are.

We can do this!

From Vic Meyers, candidate for CD4:

Dear Friends,
A great thing happened in Virginia today. Eric Cantor, described as the most conservative member of the House, was defeated in a primary today. The Tea Party is celebrating because they think they've won a great victory. I suspect that Cantor's loss has more to do with Main Street Republicans getting tired of being forgotten about and deciding that Cantor's obstructionist, anti-everything policies don't represent them. I think they have a lot in common with 4th CD Republicans who value Social Security, want immigration reform passed, a 21st century infrastructure and our Veterans to be taken care of. This is exactly why I can win this race. The four Republicans vying to run are political doppelgangers to Cantor. Some of them are even worse than Cantor.

We have a great opportunity to turn a dark red Congressional district into a purple district. Let's not let it get away!

Go to our website's donate page and help us buy the campaign supplies we need to get it done, please.

The four Republicans in the primary are Renfroe, Kirkmeyer, Laffey, and Buck. Buck was originally going to run for senate against Mark Udall, but Cory Gardner decided to run for that seat instead of holding his seat in the House; Ken Buck was persuaded to run for this House seat in Gardner's place. We deserve better. Please check out Vic Meyers' website, and if you can, DONATE!
