Momentary Reprieve

Immeasurable thanks to those who wrote, called, emailed, faxed, and protested, up to and including those who braved the ire of senators and got mauled and yanked from wheelchairs and arrested, and then responded by shouting more and louder.

The setback is the GOP’s, but they aren’t quitting; they are regrouping. Pay special attention to those who didn’t support the bill because, in their view, it didn’t go far enough, wasn’t cruel enough, wasn’t punitive enough, because the bill’s intent is NOT about providing health care — it IS about depriving Barack Obama of his presidential legacy. It’s not about caring for the people of this country, it’s about hating him. Period.

In their limited vision, you and I are just collateral damage, mere annoyances obstructing their vendetta; we’re proving them wrong about that, too. They’ll fall back and regroup, and will be met by letters and phone calls and emails and faxes and protestors on foot and in wheelchairs because we have no need to regroup, our purpose is set. We have a reprieve, but we are ready. And eventually, the day will be ours.

The price of insomnia

Channel surfing, and a commercial comes on for, god help us, "Trumpy Bear."

It's a stuffed thing, with the yellow hair. Cheesy testimonial with a professed veteran cuddling the thing.

$40. I can't even.

Ken Buck says he might run for Colorado attorney general if Cynthia Coffman runs for governor

Political dominoes are falling across Colorado, and the latest could have Republican U.S. Rep. Ken Buck run for state attorney general in 2018 if Cynthia Coffman, the current officeholder, decides to join the crowded race for governor.

Two Republican operatives said that Buck, a two-term lawmaker from Windsor, has begun to talk about the possibility, and he confirmed his interest in a brief phone interview.

“If she decides that she’s not going to seek (the) attorney general’s office, I would certainly keep my options open,” Buck said.

Sez me: He was discharged from the Colorado Justice Department for ethics violations. As DA he prosecuted and lost a politically vindictive case, in the process costing county taxpayers more than $100,000. He helped to bring very negative national attention to the county when he helped to engineer the dubiously legal raids at the packing plant. He claimed he was better suited for office than his primary opponent because, unlike her, “ I don’t wear high heels.” He refused to prosecute an admitted rapist because he was personally convinced that the victim was merely experiencing “buyer’s remorse”. He believes that alcoholism and being gay are choices. He was disciplined by the state Supreme Court for his unconstitutional violations in raiding a tax preparation business that serves the Spanish-speaking community. He promised to bring bullshit to Congress, and he has kept that promise. Ken Buck thinks that this resume qualifies him to be Colorado’s Attorney General. He needs to be disabused of that notion.

Care Not Scare

Just got permission to share some pics from a friend's facebook page. The photos were taken at a local protest that took place in Greeley CO; it was timed to be simultaneous with a protest taking place at the capital in Denver.

Visible AND vocal!

Replay

Back in the horrible W years there was a blog that featured this fellow. Tried to find that blog, website. No luck. If they're still around, let's hope they start putting this back in circulation. It's beginning to look as though the adapted logo is going to have permanent employment.
