Feeding the campaign troops (phone bankers and canvassers, etc.)
The "comfort captains" always do a tremendous job with provisioning. Some munchables seem to be automatic, like pizza and veggie platters. Homemade goodies are always welcome, but the necessary quantities can be scary. I'm looking to add to the list for when potential donors ask what to bring. So, what's most popular with your campaign workers?
Celebrity Bowling, anyone?
Looking for background noise to keep me company while paying bills, and came across a cable channel called "Decades". They're showing, of all things, "Celebrity Bowling" from the 1970s, complete with some of the original commercials. The hair! The clothes! And does anyone want to win a brand new Vega? Never knew there was such a show, but can't say that I don't remember the styles. What a hoot!
I am pretty sure Republicans would be fine with abortion if a gun were involved
Margaret, within minutes of the President saying that he would be accused of politicizing this latest shooting, right on schedule Fox News accused him of politicizing it. I swear the yahoos over at that network could start an argument all alone in an empty room.
How many times does our a President have to go on television to ask for our prayers and our thoughts before our elected officials decide to pass sensible gun laws? Why in the world do we think it should be easier and less expensive to get guns than it is to get mental health treatment?
Crazy people fire guns at will these days and politicians have nothing to say except our thoughts and prayers are with the victims. But a women makes the private decision to end an unwanted or unhealthy pregnancy and those same politicians cry murder and pass laws faster than a hot knife through butter.

"Call your representative"
Its damned depressing. Another day, another shooting, another plea to call your representative and thats where it gets ludicrous. I mean, come on! The guy couldnt care less what I think about anything. But about guns? Get real! Hes all about the gunzzz, he even got in a bit of hot water for sleazing around the law in order to take his flag-draped assault rifle to DC; had his picture taken with another congressidjit posing in his office with it as though it was a thing of beauty and a joy forever. And his wife ran for the state senate, and when she got there the first thing she did (well, the first thing she bragged about, anyway) was to propose legislation that would return gun rights to some felons, because that was just such a ginormous burning issue for us, doncha know!
So yeah, Ill call his office so his staffers can make the appropriate tick mark to provide feeble counterpoint to all the shotgunned star-spangled tea party tick marks. And then Ill call the Senator who actually does care what I think, and his staffer and I will have an honest-to-gosh real conversation. And Ill call and write notes to a couple of representatives from other districts who, like the Senator, have genuine interest in the concerns of residents of the state, and Ill thank them for their hard work.
But I still wish I had a representative in Congress, which I dont, and that just sucks.
Kerry on with Colbert
Gotta say -- Chuck Todd could learn a thing or two from Stephen Colbert.
