Since the Senate stayed in town to get something done, I switched over in hopes of catching them in the act. So far, it's been Mike Lee talking in his sleep. Not exactly stimulating debate.

Whew!
Thirty years ago, my first cortisone shot was delivered by a piece of field artillery, and it was every bit as painful as the hurt it was supposed to alleviate. So, I've been putting off further injections, not wanting to repeat the experience.
Today I got three shots, both knees and a shoulder. And it was quick and pretty much painless. The doc says I should have some idea of degree of effectiveness by tomorrow evening. At this point I'm indulging daydreams of not being afraid to walk, and what a happy change that is!

Watching Maddow et al - - -
At one point, switched over to Fox to see how/if they were covering the same issues, and they were showcasing commentary from Stephen Miller. Yeah..........

Well, phooey.
Had a massive shouldacouldawoulda moment, very disappointed in me.
Given that Im an apartment dweller I cannot display yard signs. So, for many years, my aging minivan has been my rolling yard sign; its many windows have sported bumper stickers, posters, and various and sundry Democratic promos. The responses have been both positive and negative, given that I reside in a red part of Colorado. Just days after affixing my first Obama stickers the van was keyed, scratches running the length of the vehicle on both sides; that effort to silence me did not work. Since then rocks have been tossed at the van and opposing stickers have been applied over mine, and a couple of handwritten notes have been tucked under my wipers. Those things have happened in public, but those committing such acts have wimped out, making sure their actions take place when the owner of the van with handicap plates was nowhere in sight. When I find those messages I just shake my head, knowing that I would be accused of vandalism if I replied in kind.
The occasional parking lot discussions have, for the most part, been civil. To be sure, there has been some animosity mostly repeating oft-heard canards. The important part, for me, is that conversation takes place. And, yes, many of the positive responses have been heart warming, from the smiling thumbs-up to requests for information on acquiring like signage. My favorite episode came when I turned to see a woman running from across the parking lot, and when she caught her breath she told me that she and her husband had recently moved here and were disappointed to find themselves in a political minority. Then she laughed and pointed at my windows, saying it was soooo good to learn they werent alone after all. I gave her a card with contact information for our local Dem party, and she gave me a huge hug before running to share her news with her husband.
Then came today. As I came out of the store I was politely approached by a gentleman carrying a clipboard. Ah, yes, tis that season. Anyway, he walked beside me and said, Hi, Im a Republican and were gathering signatures to put (someone) on the ballot. By the time he finished that sentence wed reached my van, and I just smiled at him and then pointed to the donkey sticker on my windshield. He looked at it, smiled, tipped his hat and said, Have a nice day. He went back to his station by the store entrance, and I got in the car to drive home.
Along the way, I started to consider that Id missed an opportunity to talk with someone who was not confrontational. I could have persuaded a little, could have learned a little, could have had a good conversation, could have told him why I left the Republican party many years ago, could have asked his thoughts on Trump and the border and Ukraine...but I didnt. I just smiled and pointed. Who's the wimp now?
To be fair to moi, Id gone to the store to pick up a pain prescription; my knees are being just plain horrible these days, and theyll be getting their first cortisone injections a couple days hence. So maybe I didnt want my physical discomfort bleeding into a chat with a stranger. Maybe I was just in a grumpy mood. Whatever. The point is, I had a chance to engage and I blew it. Way not happy about that.
Boo hiss.
Seriously?
Just now on C-span -- Opening the debate on the Mayorcas impeachment, Rep. Green (R) just said that "unlike the Democrats, WE take impeachment seriously."
Ye gods.

Waste of a remote click
Watching coverage of the courts denial of Trump immunity, and switched over to Fox to see how they were reporting it. They were breathlessly interviewing Tuberville about the border bill. Not to suggest that there were expectations otherwise . . .
