LaPierre's newest heartthrob
When a reply isn't.
In a facebook conversation about fracking last night, the reliably winger voice chimed in with the Breitbart story about how James O'Keefe snagged certain celebrities on the subject. A couple of us responded that O'Keefe had found the tables turned on himself, most notably by Josh Fox who had taped the entire conversation that O'Keefe had severely edited. Given the winger's penchant for accusing others of citing only agreeable sources, he was invited to check the internet by, for example, googling "O'Keefe's Giant Fail". After about an hour he replied with, "Google is known for its hypocrisy."
No one has posted to the conversation since. But I swear you can hear laughter.
Happy fracking graduation, Greeley!
The Governor's office and stakeholders continue to discuss a potential legislative alternative to the fracking issue in order to avoid a handful of ballot measures that could show up this fall (more on this later). We've written before in this space that arguing for local control in fracking decisions is actually tough to oppose Hardliners who have thus far opposed any real efforts to find a legislative compromise are seriously misplaying their hand here, and images like those below certainly don't help their argument.
District 6 Stadium in Greeley is hosting two graduation ceremonies this weekend Greeley Central High School tonight, and Northridge High School on Saturday and we're guessing that grandma and Aunt Sally aren't going to be too pleased with the view from the stands. Anyone in Greeley who continues to support drill sites like this
well, we don't even understand what you would say in your defense. There are some locations, like the one below, that just should not be drilled.

Chaco Canyon culture is at risk
The remnants of the astounding Anasazi culture could be lost to fracking. If you've ever visited Chaco Canyon you know how heartbreaking that threat is.
Please go to the link, watch the video, then sign the petition. Please.
To get a sense of what's at stake, watch this amazing 4 minute film -- narrated by Peter Coyote, with the insights of Puebloan descendants and stunning aerial images of Chacoan sites -- from the upcoming documentary Written On The Landscape: Mysteries Beyond Chaco Canyon by the folks at the Solstice Project.

Cory Gardner: Republicans Should Not “Change Positions” To Win
Since his entry into the U.S. Senate race in late February, a defining characteristic of Rep. Cory Gardner's campaign strategy has been the swift and unapologetic abandonment of a number of stridently conservative policy positions. The most widely publicized example of this has been Gardner's flip-flop on the Personhood abortion bans, for which Gardner's former support was public and longstanding.
Within a few weeks, Gardner had also flipped on such hot-button social issues as LGBT parent adoption, and whether undocumented immigrants should be deported to their countries of origin. It's been a wild ride for Gardner in a short period of time, and the wisdom of simply jettisoning en masse all of Gardner's political stands which are now liabilities in a statewide election is a major point of debate today. Should Gardner prevail against Democratic Sen. Mark Udall this November, it would set a new precedent for the ability of a politician to reinvent their image to a truly sweeping degree and still win an election.
