Sucker punched?

Got a sick feeling in the pit of the stomach that Trump just sucker punched us. Again. That skeevy gun discussion round table, following the cancelling of the daily presser, was crafted for the sole purpose of drawing attention away from what was going on elsewhere. Don’t look at Mueller. Don’t look at Hicks’ statement about lies. Don’t think about what any of that means. Just focus on an hour of live lies and distortions and pretense. His gross insincerity and feigned concern about shooting victims oozed out of the television and onto the carpet. Just like during the campaign when he’d call “news conferences” to get the free coverage for himself while drawing it away from anyone else. It’s the one thing he does masterfully.

Makes me sick that I fell for it, pearls clutched and all.

This comment was posted to an article about a Democratic candidate's upcoming energy talk. The author has become something of a fixture on the comment boards of our local paper. He's known for his wildly hyperbolic invective against anyone who isn't him, but this comment is just plain weird:

...Democrats(Liberal, Leftists, Progressives) came up with the phrase "fossil fuels". Oil has nothing to do with fossils.
Alternative energies cost 4 times as much to produce and they are not dependable. Wind mill costs go through the roof when they need to be rebuilt because the internal parts are consumables, therefore they need to be replaced often. Major overhauls need to be on the agenda too,prompting costs way over the top for affordability to the consumer.
Oil pools floating on ocean water is a natural occurance due to the continuous ground leakage on the ocean floor. Oil is lighter than water so it floats to the top.
Gas and oil is responsible for bringing millions of Americans out of poverty, creating comfort, safety, mobility and easier living accomodations.
Electricity for the elite electric cars come from coal, ya, I said it, COAL.
All the talk about oil contamination is mostly false Liberal narratives designed to bring America back to the stone age.
