Who said it?

Many years ago I heard a phrase quoted, and when I asked where it came from the answer was "some book." Anyway, if I use it I'd like to be able to give it proper attribution. Here 'tis:

"If you will spare me your unsolicited opinion, I will spare you the embarrassing knowledge of how little it means."

So, can anyone place it?

In truth, I'd like to paraphrase it for use in certain conversations, something like "If you will spare me your Fox-informed opinion, I will spare you the embarrassing knowledge of how pathetically laughable it is."
