Mea culpa, sorta

Okay, I admit it. When the news broke of Breyer's retirement, my first thought was that Biden should indulge the FU factor and nominate Anita Hill.

Am I bad?

Banana peels, etc.

Okay, I've come to that moment. It's time to ask -- Does anyone here have experience with those medical alert devices (as in, "I've fallen and I can't get up" )? I'm seeing lots of ads, but even the ones that quote a price have however paragraphs written in such small font that not even a magnifying glass helps. I'm trying to find clear pricing structure, also information on possible insurance coverage.

As always, thanks in advance for any info!

At least we got to see

McConnell named, with proof, as the one who broke the Senate.

Thank you for that, Sen. Merkley.

Manchin reminds me of my dad.

He could never admit he was wrong, either.

Sinema question

Did Kyrsten Sinema really go to Melania's garage sale to buy her "I really don't care" coat?

Family

My younger brother woke up in an ambulance on Sunday morning, with no memory of how he got there. His wife said they were still sleeping when, around 6am, he started screaming and shaking, his eyes open but unable to see. At the ER they stabilized him, then administered CTscan, MRI, and EEG. None of those procedures revealed the cause, and he was released Monday evening with referrals to a neurologist and instructions to refrain from driving for six months. He says his muscles are a bit sore, but that he otherwise feels just fine. He’s 68, retired, decent health history, fully vaxxed and boosted (in spite of being a still-ardent Trump supporter). We’ve all rallied around him and his family, and he’s promising to keep us posted. And, in spite of the fact that this is the most we have heard from him in over a year, we’re all glad that he still knows we’re here when it really counts, so there’s that.

Meanwhile, holy cow.

A day for remembering

There’s an old black and white photo of a young girl in a white dress and veil. On her shoulder is the hand of the man standing next to her, the bishop who had just presided at her confirmation. Both are smiling. She went on to be just another teenager. He, on the other hand, went to jail — with Martin Luther King. And Dad often wondered where I got the idea that rocking the boat was a good thing.
