2am and insomnia is doing its thing. TV is on, goes to commercial, and there it is -- Trumpy Bear. Ye gods. It's still ugly, but other than that, can't tell you the price because my thumb was blessedly quick on the remote. No doubt some poor shlubs will find that nasty thing under their trees. Ick. Just. Plain. Ick.

Thoughts while listening to discussion about Special Counsel appointment

We expect Republicans to object. Frank Figlussi has noted that, given the way they disparaged fellow Republican Robert Mueller, they wouldn’t hesitate to eviscerate Mother Theresa if given the opportunity. That’s an understatement; if Jesus Christ showed up for the job Republicans would be lining up with lumber and nails, that’s just the way they roll.

Can't help learning the lessons they teach us about themselves.

Lake squicks

The first time I saw Kari Lake on television, I flinched. Not for any political reason, but something else: She bears a startling resemblance to a long ago teacher whose spike heels announced her arrival when she was still 100 yards down the hallway. She was severe and demanding, and we all lived in fear that one day her temper would snap and someone would find themselves with a foot pierced by one of those spikes. But, in fairness to that teacher, her physical appearance is the only resemblance to Lake seeing as how her classes were all about civics, a subject to which Lake has apparently never been introduced.

Still flinching.
