Pence Just Threw Trump Under The Bus, “I’m Offended, Cannot Defend Him”

Schadenfreude alert....

http://occupydemocrats.com/2016/10/08/pence-just-threw-trump-bus-im-offended-cannot-defend/

“As a husband and father, I was offended by the words and actions described by Donald Trump in the eleven-year-old video released yesterday. I do not condone his remarks and cannot defend them,” he offered. “I am grateful that he has expressed remorse and apologized to the American people. We pray for his family and look forward to the opportunity he has to show what is in his heart when he goes before the nation tomorrow night.”

Stumped by Trump’s Teflon Popularity? 10 Reasons Fans Want a Faux-CEO in the White House

http://www.alternet.org/election-2016/stumped-trumps-teflon-popularity-10-reasons-fans-want-faux-ceo-white-house

1. Fans feel “fired!” and Trump alone can give them back their place in America.

Trump supporters feel robbed. Culturally and economically, they feel America betrayed them. Bewildered and wounded, they apparently turned to TV to explain it all. And a TV hero has stepped up to make it right. Fans need Trump to come to their rescue, because they feel powerless and silenced.

----
2. Fans don’t know what hit them (but TV won’t tell them).

Trump fans, overall, lack education. Derek Thompson reports in the Atlantic, “Trump's support skewed male, white, and poor…the single best predictor of Trump support in the GOP primary is the absence of a college degree.” That absence exacerbates their sense that someonedissed them.

----
5. Trump (magically! manfully!) turns pain into anger and fear into aggression.

Their hero has already helped them! Fans’ fear felt weak and painful, but their newfound anger feels strong. Trump has already helped his white-male-skewed avid TV fan-base feel powerful.

Read What Donald Did To His Wedding Caterer, It Will Make You Sick

http://americannewsx.com/politics/read-donald-wedding-caterer-will-make-sick/

An actor friend of mine worked for a caterer in 1993. It was a new caterer, and this caterer was thrilled to land the kind of job that can really boost a career — catering Donald Trump and Marla Maples wedding. At the time she wondered why he didn’t hire other caterers he’d used in the past, but just thanked her lucky stars he hired her.

Everything went beautifully — the food was a hit, the waiters/waitresses all were totally professional. Everything was first rate.

Donald Trump refused to pay the bill. He told the caterer, “I know you are new at this, and when you tell people you catered MY wedding, you will get more business than you could ever dream of. So I am doing you a favor. And when I do favors, I don’t pay. End of discussion.”

She couldn’t believe it — she sent numerous bills — ignored. She threatened to sue — he said “Go ahead. I don’t lose in court.” She explored suing, but came away knowing it would cost her high legal bills, and wouldn’t be worth it. After more than six months of his stonewalling she ended up paying her staff out of her own pocket, though couldn’t pay them fully or she’d be out of business. So Trump stiffed not only her, but her staff, her chefs, her busboys.

Congress may rewrite 9/11 bill a day after forcing passage

Um, so they didn't want the bill? Just really wanted to disrespect POTUS? What a pack of miscreants.

https://nypost.com/2016/09/30/congress-wants-to-change-911-bill-a-day-after-forcing-passage/

U.S. lawmakers expressed doubts on Thursday about Sept. 11 legislation they forced on President Barack Obama, saying the new law allowing lawsuits against Saudi Arabia could be narrowed to ease concerns about its effect on Americans abroad.

A day after a rare overwhelming rejection of a presidential veto, the first during Obama’s eight years in the White House, the Republican leaders of the Senate and House of Representatives opened the door to fixing the law as they blamed the Democratic president for not consulting them adequately.

“I do think it is worth further discussing,” Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell told reporters, acknowledging that there could be “potential consequences” of the Justice Against Sponsors of Terrorism Act, known as JASTA.

House Speaker Paul Ryan said Congress might have to “fix” the legislation to protect U.S. troops in particular.

Wells Fargo CEO John Stumpf will forfeit much of his 2016 salary -- including his bonus and $41MM

million as company launches probe.

To which I say-
Thank Dog they have a crack staff of employees courageously investigating the executive wing.
I'm certain they'll get to the bottom of it, just like when they absolved themselves of wrongdoing after they doubled my mortgage payment after mistakenly paying my taxes and insurance for a year. I wonder if I'm an anomoly, or a data point in a larger scandal.

The fallout from the controversy has also resulted in its first major executive departure. Carrie Tolstedt, who headed the division that created the fake accounts, has left the company ahead of her scheduled retirement at year end.

Wells Fargo, under pressure from lawmakers and shareholders to take action, said Tolstedt will not receive a bonus or severance, and that she'll forfeit all of her $19 million worth of unvested stock awards. Wells Fargo also said Tolstedt has agreed not to exercise some $34 million in stock options, the bank's independent directors announced Tuesday.

Dismembered Nate Silver Found In Dumpster Behind Gallup Headquarters

http://www.theonion.com/article/dismembered-nate-silver-found-in-dumpster-behind-g-53987

WASHINGTON—Calling the grisly crime scene “deeply disturbing,” Metropolitan Police confirmed Wednesday that the dismembered body of political statistician Nate Silver had been found in a dumpster behind the Gallup organization’s headquarters. “At approximately 4:26 a.m., a member of the building’s cleaning staff discovered the torso and severed limbs of a man in his mid-to-late 30s mixed in with hundreds of pages of blood- and viscera-soaked polling data,” said MPD spokesman Sgt. Brendan Davies, who added that Silver’s decapitated head—identified by his signature black rectangular glasses—had also been found in a bowling bag discarded near the research institution. “The extensive bruising along the mutilated body parts also indicates that he had been beaten prior to his death, possibly by more than one person. If anyone has any leads as to who might have targeted Silver, the founder of FiveThirtyEight and a leading expert on political and economic trends, please contact us immediately.” Police officials told reporters they were still looking into the outline of a bell curve on his chest formed by what appeared to be cigarette burns.

Roads are crumbling, yet Wisconsin Taxpayers Just Got Stuck Paying $1.6 Million for Abortion Fight.

Priorities out of whack under republiclown Gov. Scott Walker.

Wisconsin Taxpayers Just Got Stuck Paying $1.6 Million for the State's Abortion Fight.
http://www.motherjones.com/politics/2016/09/wisconsin-taxpayers-just-got-stuck-million-legal-tab-abortion-law-case

The Wisconsin Department of Justice agreed Thursday to pay $1.6 million in attorney fees and other legal costs to Planned Parenthood, the ACLU, and several other plaintiffs who successfully challenged one of the state's abortion laws.

The case challenged the requirement that abortion providers in Wisconsin have admitting privileges at a hospital within 30 miles of their clinic. In March 2015, a district court judge ruled that the law was unconstitutional. The state of Wisconsin twice appealed the case, driving up legal costs for the plaintiffs. In both appeals, the state lost: The circuit court agreed with the initial court's decision, as did the US Supreme Court this June, rejecting the case the day after it overturned a similar admitting-privileges provision in Texas. Now Wisconsin taxpayers will have to foot the bill for the legal costs from the appeals.

"This settlement should send a message to politicians that laws that are designed to obstruct a woman's access to an abortion are not only unconstitutional, but they are a misuse of taxpayer resources," said Jennifer Dalven, director of the reproductive freedom project at the ACLU, in an emailed statement to Mother Jones.

While roads crumble and infrastructure fails-
http://onmilwaukee.com/buzz/articles/walkerroadbudget.html

What isn't deteriorating in Wisconsin? You can't argue our universities have improved. You certainly can't argue our roads have either, yet both are critical to our state. Both are suffering great harm. On top of it, a new report says jobs numbers are still lagging the nation.

Now comes word that Gov. Scott Walker's transportation secretary thinks the consequence of his boss' policies is the "continued deterioration" of 90 percent of our state's roads. That's a rather stunning statement. Let me repeat it.

The governor's own transportation secretary thinks 90 percent of our roads will "continue" to deteriorate – this despite the excessive borrowing in the budget for roads the last time. The Wisconsin State Journal broke the story, with the lede, "Wisconsin Transportation Secretary Mark Gottlieb said his forthcoming budget request to Gov. Scott Walker will not propose major tax or fee increases – a move Gottlieb acknowledged would delay road expansion work and upkeep of all but the state's most-traveled highways."
