Bernie Sanders Says Democratic Primary Schedule ‘Distorts Reality’

Bernie Sanders Says Democratic Primary Schedule ‘Distorts Reality’
Sam Frizell @Sam_Frizell 6:43 PM ET

"I think that having so many Southern states go first kind of distorts reality"

Bernie Sanders told “Nightly Show” host Larry Wilmore at a taping Wednesday evening that scheduling Southern states early in the Democratic primary “distorts reality.”

Black voters make up a disproportionate share of the Democratic electorate in those Southern states, and constitute a voting bloc in which Sanders has consistently underperformed.

The Vermont senator has been more successful in smaller, whiter and more liberal states like Maine, Washington and Minnesota. Sanders has also been able to win a slightly larger portion of black voters in northern states like Michigan and Illinois, exit polls showed.

New York City's largest public employee union, endorses Hillary Clinton for president.

Hillary Clinton for President
Posted on April 13, 2016 by gheires in Newsroom, Politics, unions, 2016 Election

Our national union, the American Federation of State, County and Municipal Employees, and DC 37 have worked closely with Clinton for decades. When she was first lady in Washington, D.C., Clinton welcomed AFSCME’s input as she led the effort to develop the Clinton administration’s health-care plan.

As senator, Clinton supported key issues of concern to DC 37 members and poor and middle-class New Yorkers.

This editorial is from the April issue of Public Employee Press, DC 37 official publication.

Mothers of Black Victims Emerge as a Force for Hillary Clinton

Mothers of Black Victims Emerge as a Force for Hillary Clinton
By AMY CHOZICK APRIL 13, 2016

The Clinton campaign named this sisterhood forged in the shared loss of a child the “Mothers of the Movement,” and they have become an unlikely linchpin of Mrs. Clinton’s success in the Democratic primary. At campaign stops, Mrs. Clinton introduces them as “a group of mothers who belong to a club no one ever wants to join.” The mothers will arrive in New York this week to help Mrs. Clinton compete for the April 19 primary.
