NYTs :Netanyahu Says He’d Go It Alone on Striking Iran

JERUSALEM — Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu on Monday reiterated his willingness to attack the Iranian nuclear program without support from Washington or the world, returning to an aggressive posture that he had largely abandoned since his United Nations speech in September.

“When David Ben-Gurion declared the foundation of the state of Israel, was it done with American approval?” Mr. Netanyahu asked in an interview broadcast on Israel’s Channel 2 on Monday night. “When Levi Eshkol was forced to act in order to loosen the siege before 1967, was it done with the Americans’ support?

“If someone sits here as the prime minister of Israel and he can’t take action on matters that are cardinal to the existence of this country, its future and its security, and he is totally dependent on receiving approval from others, then he is not worthy of leading,” Mr. Netanyahu added. “I can make these decisions.”

The Worlds Tallest Tree is hidden by scientists in a Northern California Forest

The coast redwood, is the world’s tallest tree, and is one of the three sequoia tree species, along with the dawn redwood, and the Giant Sequoia. The Coast Redwoods grow in natural stands along a thin coastal area on the Pacific coast in Northern California.

Before we get to the actual tallest plant in the world lets talk about its little brother “Stratosphere Giant” which is also located in Northern California (yes its true everything is bigger in California) located in the Humboldt Redwoods State Park. The “Stratosphere Giant,” stands 369 feet.

Now on to the Worlds tallest tree which is being preserved by scientists from Humboldt State University and guys like Steve Sillett who don’t want to see the tallest tree get destroyed. The tree which is nicknamed Hyperion” lies somewhere in the Redwood National Park, and stands 379 feet 4 inches tall.

There are tree’s in the park that have more wood density and larger trunks such Del Norte Titan, but Hyperion is the tallest

Astronauts cast votes from space with digital ballot

(CNN) - Every vote counts, including absentee ballots cast from the Earth's orbit.

Mission Control at the Johnson Space Center in Houston emails a digital version of the ballot up to astronauts in the International Space Station.

When the ballot is complete, it comes back down to Earth on the same path.

The ballot is then sent to the voting authorities.

This system was made possible by a 1997 bill passed in Texas.

Most astronauts live in or near Houston.

A 2009 study by the Pew Research Center found that only 9 percent of scientists self-identified as conservative, while 52 percent called themselves liberals. Only 6 percent of American scientists self-identified as Republicans.
