Wikipedia Edits may show Romney's pick for VP

Sarah Palin's Wikipedia page was updated at least 68 times the day before John McCain announced her selection, with another 54 changes made in the five previous days previous. Tim Pawlenty, another leading contender for McCain's favor, had 54 edits on August 28th, with just 12 in the five previous days. By contrast, the other likely picks — Romney, Kay Bailey Hutchison — saw far fewer changes. The same burst of last-minute editing appeared on Joe Biden's Wikipedia page, Terry Gudaitis of Cyveillance, told the Washington Post.

None of Wikipedia entries for the current candidates being bandied about by Romney-watchers — Rob Portman, Marco Rubio, Paul Ryan, Bobby Jindal, Chris Christie, Kelly Ayotte or Pawlenty — are currently showing anything like the spike in edits that Cyveillance spotted on Palin and Biden's pages back in 2008. But most of those came in the 24 hours prior to the official announcement. That said, if Wikipedia changes offer any hint of what's coming, then today might be a good day to bet on Ryan. On the other hand, his page is hardly the most popular in terms of views, or watchers, as you can see

The NASA official went on to say that “I can understand why the Higgs people think they found something that’s real and all, but as far as I can tell their so-called ‘boson’ is about as real as a leprechaun or a Smurf.”
In Geneva, the Higgs team was quick to fire back a response: “At the Large Hadron Collider lab, we’re used to honest disagreements between scientists. But we’d like to see that douche come over here and say that to our face.”

I think this planet is in real crisis that are so real and painful that a chicken dinner is a distraction as compared to the melting icecaps, military industrial complex, falling infrastructures. and the executions of major life forms because of our inactions and apathy.

The many years here at DU have taken me on a course in the search of truth, no matter where it took me.
The truth is painful sometimes when it destroys
paradigms and deny the reality that you conceive were true that were a foundation of trust in the system.

I and the planet used to look for leadership for this planet with the USut it sold out to corporations and the world knows that.

They saw the change, they know that.

Dignity.... you know that the budget for NASA and education, and leadership in human rights was what gave us DIGNITY. I search for dignity for all human beings was given to us by many great Americans, that the rest of world tried to follow, or excel at.

South Africa, the US and apartheid woke me up
as did Chile. But those are distant warnings that I didn't want to believe and came back and said.... things are fucked up.

We need an economic system that gives dignity
to all humans and this planet..... I warned of the meltdown on DU in 2006 after following the Bank repay on loans and housing. every day......I posted that in LBNs



I and others do have knowledge of things that might work
for humanity but not without

DIGNITY.

JENNA JAMESON CLARIFIES HER ENDORSEMENT OF ROMNEY - Borowitz

NEW YORK (The Borowitz Report)—Concerned that her endorsement of former Massachusetts governor Mitt Romney for President would lead to “cheap, easy jokes and innuendo,” porn star Jenna Jameson held a press conference today to explain her headline-making decision.


When asked what initially appealed to her about Mr. Romney, Ms. Jameson said, “He’s the only person who’s assumed more positions than I have.”

The actress said that she researched Mr. Romney’s career thoroughly, and was particularly impressed by his tenure at Bain Capital: “There’s nothing more American, I think, than screwing people you don’t know for money.”

While Mr. Romney’s recent foreign trip drew jeers from his critics, Ms. Jameson hailed his performance: “I respect someone who opens their mouth without thinking.”

Sorry About our Fake Bomb we planted : US tells Norway

U.S. officials apologized today for mistakenly leaving a fake bomb attached to an embassy vehicle in Oslo and causing a bomb scare that led to the evacuation of the U.S. embassy, Norway's royal palace and part of downtown Oslo.

The device had been placed beneath an embassy vehicle as part of a security drill and then mistakenly left there. It was spotted by security guards at the embassy's front entrance when someone tried to drive the vehicle onto embassy grounds just after 11 a.m. local time, triggering the evacuation of the embassy and the palace, the cancellation of an international children's soccer game nearby, and an interruption of nearby subway train traffic.

Deputy State Dept. spokesperson Patrick Ventrell confirmed that the device had been used in a previous drill and then forgotten.

"This morning at our U.S. Embassy in Oslo, Norway," said Ventrell, "Embassy security staff identified a suspicious device in an Embassy-owned vehicle and took appropriate precautions. Upon investigation, the device was determined to be a non-threatening training device previously used in an exercise."
