Today --October 4th, is the single most important day in computer history. Do you know why?

Answer: On October 4, 1957 the Russians launched Sputnik .
.............I remember it, because we were expected to launch the first satellite, and the Russians beat us.

......Following this, the U.S.A. & Soviet Union had a ..."SPACE RACE" to see who would get here or there.

......Computers were extremely important in the "Space Race" and getting them lighter and smaller was very, very,
very, important. Launching things to outer space and beyond is very costly and difficult. The less weight to launch
then it is easier to launch A, B, C, or D or anything. So computers in the 50s were very large and bulky and actually
took up many rooms, and needed to be downsized to put them into .."Outer Space." So the effort was made by
everyone who produced them to downsize "Computers"

........Of course, the history in somewhere out there on a computer site, but eventually we got to where we are.
.......In the late 70s or early 80s, I took a course on ...."Computers" and the professor said that one day computers...
.......would be so small, that you could hold one in your hand...(HAND HELD COMPUTERS???..i THOUGHT HE WAS .......TOTALLY NUTS!)

........YOU TELL ME, PLEASE................................DO THOSE "HAND HELD COMPUTERS EXIST TODAY?

.............Yes, I think they do.....We call them ....CELL PHONES,....DON'T WE?..........
........... And,,,,,,,,what the professor said has come to pass...........................................................................
............(NOT ON MY ACCOUNT, BUT I AM USING A COMPUTER RIGHT KNOW TO GET THIS POST TO YOU
........... AT DEMOCRATIC UNDERGROUND...............again, it is time to hide.............................

Why Do We Get So Many Spam Telephone Calls?.The Answer Is Simple: People Buy Whatever They Sell

Just ...some people buy whatever they sell...............................................................

If nobody bought what these con artists were selling, then the con artists would go into a different business.

It really is that simple. Also, the con artists who set these programs up, know ahead of time how many people
buy their stuff (whatever it is) and how many calls need to be made. A long time ago, this was secret information
collected just by the people who make these idiotic phone calls, but now, thanks to the internet, that information
is available to everybody!! Look it up if you don't believe me. Not me, I'm too tired today. OK...time to hide.

Just a Question, Will Putin ever Admit His Mistake in Invading Ukraine?

I doubt it. Anything but admit a mistake in his "invasion to end all invasions"

How many leaders of nations actually admit mistakes? Name some if you can.

Did Johnson ever admit a mistake in invading Viet Nam?
What was Nixon's "Secret Plan to End the War"?

"The Single - Minded Goal of Trump loving Republicans." - CNN.com- opinion by Dean Obeidallah

Opinion by Dean Obeidallah

If the GOP wins control of the House of Representatives this November, it will become the “protect Donald Trump from prosecution” caucus. That’s the message we’ve been hearing with increasing frequency from Trump-loving Republicans since August 8, when FBI agents searched the former President’s Mar-a-Lago residence.

The search, pursuant to a court-approved warrant, found more than 100 documents bearing classification markings – including three in desks inside Trump’s office – among other items that should have been returned to the National Archives.

Nevertheless, many in the GOP were incensed by the search. There were immediate calls to “defund the FBI” by some highly vocal GOP lawmakers such as Reps. Lauren Boebert, Marjorie Taylor Greene and Paul Gosar. Republican candidates for Congress from North Carolina, Ohio, Florida and elsewhere echoed that call – all part of an effort to stop the investigation of Trump.

Of course, this is the same GOP that slammed Democrats for using the term “defund the police” after the murder of George Floyd in May 2020. But when it comes to the defense of Trump, hypocrisy doesn’t matter.

On Thursday – with little media fanfare – the official Twitter account for GOP members of the House Judiciary Committee took matters a step further: During a floor debate on a measure to provide additional funding to the Department of Justice, the account tweeted: “Why would anyone support a bill that gives $140 MILLION to the same Department of Justice that raided President Trump’s home?”

Election Day is (Nov.) 8..Remember, "Anything Can Happen & Often Does. (about 5 weeks away)

I ain't an expert on elections, but I have watched many. I never thought Trump would win...and I never
thought that Obama (who was from Illinois, my home state) would be nominated and win. Many more of
these, you can name them if you want. Anything can happen from now till then, and anything is "anything."
