About the "Horror of World War I..(and Trump's disrespect)

Because the incredible carnage of WWI, there was a peace movement during the late 20s and early30s. This was a reaction to the carnage of the war, which was publicized in books and magazine articles. (two books in particular, All Quiet on the Western Front, and A Farewell to Arms)..But the peace movement reflected a reaction to this horror. The idea was..".no more war"...The United States entered the war late, in 1917 and lost maybe a couple of hundred thousand soldiers...Where as Russia, Germany and other and others lost millions, yes millions..
...very important...because of the carnage of WWI, and the peace movement and total revulsion to the idea of war, Hitler was able to rearm without too much opposition..Here is the key point...NO one could believe that Hitler would start another horrific war in Europe after what was experienced 20 years earlier..
...NO ONE!!!! So the leaders in the 30s made deals with Hitler, not believing that it could happen again. Russia in particular lost a lot of soldiers in The Great War as it was known, so it was very anxious to avoid another. Stalin's deal with Hitler was made to avoid another carnage like WWI. When Stalin was told that Germany was amassing troops along the Soviet Border, Stalin did not believe it. It wasn't till invasion was absolutely positive that Stalin believed that Hitler would invade. Therefore, Hitler's invasion was successful, and the Germans killed millions of Russians..perhaps tens of millions..

..Also.. there were men who fought in that war who were still alive, and could not believe that anyone who was alive and knows the history of the...The Great War as it was known, could start another war. It was way beyond believability..That belief is why Hitler had such success in the beginning. So, not knowing or caring about WWI, really shows how little one cares about WWII. Those leaders who went to the memorial of WWI, (all but Trump) knew the significance...Trump in his stupidity and self centered nature, didn't give a shit..
If Trump understood or cared, as leader of the United States, he would have paid respect in the exact same way the other leaders did. The two wars are totally connected.

one last note: In the 60s I took a class at the university I attended on the period of European history from 1920 to 1940..the professor's whole point was to show exactly why the Europe was totally unprepared for another war, and why Hitler was so successful in the beginning..the above is what I recall from that class.

CNN: California launches investigation following stunning admission by Aetna medical director

California's insurance commissioner has launched an investigation into Aetna after learning a former medical director for the insurer admitted under oath he never looked at patients' records when deciding whether to approve or deny care.

California Insurance Commissioner Dave Jones expressed outrage after CNN showed him a transcript of the testimony and said his office is looking into how widespread the practice is within Aetna.

Jones said his expectation would be "that physicians would be reviewing treatment authorization requests," and that it's troubling that "during the entire course of time he was employed at Aetna, he never once looked at patients' medical records himself."

"If the health insurer is making decisions to deny coverage without a physician actually ever reviewing medical records, that's of significant concern to me as insurance commissioner in California -- and potentially a violation of law," he said.

Aetna, the nation's third-largest insurance provider with 23.1 million customers, told CNN it looked forward to "explaining our clinical review

Question about "donations" in this last election..

We won some,...
We lost some.....
In your opinion, whatever that is. If I would have donated a lot more, would it have made a difference
in those really close races that we lost? Often .. I feel this way..And yes, I did donate a lot..
more than ever for midterm..

Let's say I would have sent a good amount.. or more to some of the "close races", would that have made a difference?.....Part of me knows, but the other part wonders..? Would $300.00 (that a lot for me) have helped Nelson get a big lead and forget this special count?...Would it have mattered in Texas?...or Missouri?..

You see, I know what assholes we are up against. They are awful people led by the most awful person. And McConnell is just as bad as Trump.. What do you think? Thanks for reading this..

Trump has made another mistake. If he is mad and angry like he seems..

then he shouldn't have press conferences. He should take a few days off, and he needs to "calm down."
Going off like he did today, only shows everyone that he is unstable and in trouble.

A series of fast-moving wildfires are racing up and down California early Friday, destroying thousands of structures in their paths and forcing thousands of residents to evacuate through flame-lined streets.

Fanned by high winds and low humidity, the fires spread rapidly Thursday and overnight Friday.

The threat continues Friday morning, with more than 20 million people under red flag warnings.

The Camp Fire Fire #1

Tanah Clunies-Ross woke up in the dark to what sounded like lumps of coal raining down on her Northern California home. Within minutes, her family and thousands of people were racing to escape the raging flames of the Camp Fire.

"The smell of the smoke and realizing the smoke was a lot closer than I thought and then seeing flames up to my knees. ... I lost it," she said.

An unknown number of homes and buildings in Paradise have been destroyed by the Camp Fire.

Her family was among the 40,000 residents forced to evacuate in Butte County, California, after the fire broke out early Thursday, "growing uncontrollably" at a rate of about 80 football fields per minute. So far, it has burned through 20,000 acres, injured firefighters and residents, and prompted hospitals and schools to quickly evacuate

4th Attack in 2 Weeks Leaves Mounting Death Toll, Questions on How to Make Soft Targets Safe

CNN) — Four soft targets in two weeks: a grocery store in Kentucky, a synagogue in Pittsburgh, a yoga studio in Florida and now a college bar in Thousand Oaks, California.

Any ruthless attack on people is shocking, but attacks on soft targets are particularly disturbing. Soft targets represent simple, daily life. People come and go. They expect to be safe as they pick up a cup of coffee, deposit their paychecks, fill prescriptions or grab a bite to eat. Their guards are down.

The death toll in the four recent incidents has been stunning, with 27 people slain:

• Two shoppers gunned down October 24 in the parking lot and inside a Kroger in Jefferson, Kentucky

• Eleven people attending Shabbat services killed October 27 when an armed man walked into a Pittsburgh synagogue. Six people were wounded, including four responding police officers.

• Two women, a physician and a college senior, shot to death November 2 inside a yoga studio in Tallahassee, Florida. The gunman wounded four other people.

• And on Wednesday, 12 people killed and more than a dozen injured when a masked man opened fire inside a bar in Thousand Oaks, California.

12 People Killed in Mass Shooting at Bar

People jumped out of windows and hid in bathrooms to escape the shooting in Thousand Oaks, California. Officials say the gunman is dead. The Ventura County Sheriff's Office is still trying to make sense of last night's shooting at Borderline Bar & Grill, as they cope with the death of a longtime sheriff's sergeant, Capt. Garo Kuredjian said.

It's unclear if all the victims inside the bar have been identified or if all of their families have been notified, he said.

“It’s absolutely horrific," he told CNN affiliate KABC. "If you can imagine young people out on a Wednesday night, having a good time, at a bar they’ve probably been to many times. Thousand Oaks, one of the safest cities in the United States, and something like this happens. We’re trying to make sense out of the senseless, it’s absolutely tragic.”

The shooting was reported at 2:19 a.m. ET inside the bar in Thousand Oaks, Kuredjian said.
