Dan Rather, "The President is praising almost any autocrat he can find."

“History is watching through all this,” @DanRather says after President Trump praised Saudi Crown Prince bin Salman after cozying up to Putin and saying he’d meet Kim Jong Un.

2018 Was Deadliest Year for Hot Car Deaths: National Safety Council

https://www.nsc.org/in-the-newsroom/2018-was-deadliest-year-on-record-for-hot-car-deaths

NSC releases new interactive online training to help prevent another fatal year.

Itasca, IL – Tragically, more children died in hot cars in the United States in 2018 than any other year on record, the National Safety Council has confirmed. Fifty-one children died last year of pediatric vehicular heatstroke, topping the single-year high of 49 set in 2010.

In response, the Council is releasing a free online training, Children in Hot Cars, that provides vital information about pediatric vehicular heatstroke and outlines how distraction and other behaviors can lead to these unnecessary deaths. The Council is issuing the training during Distracted Driving Awareness Month, observed each April to educate about the various forms of distraction behind the wheel. Sadly, many drivers forget their children in the back seat because they are distracted, making hot car deaths one distracted driving consequence that often is overlooked.

“Last year, we set one of the saddest records in U.S. roadway safety history,” said Nick Smith, interim president and CEO of the Council. “We believe this new training will go a long way toward educating people about pediatric vehicular heatstroke and empowering them with tips so they can avoid behaviors that can lead to these tragic deaths.”

Short version on how the Judiciary Committee got Nixon to resign

(if you were wondering how it was done..for information & history only). Yes, I watched this happen, as did many of us here. ...Also, I think we sure have a very long way to go now, and this is now extremely unlikely, almost impossible, in my opinion.

from Wikipedia..

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Impeachment_process_against_Richard_Nixon

"Following a subpoena from the Judiciary Committee, in April 1974 edited transcripts of many Watergate-related conversations from the Nixon White House tapes were made public by Nixon, but the committee pressed for full tapes and additional conversations. Nixon refused, but on July 24, the U.S. Supreme Court ordered him to comply. On July 27, 29, and 30, 1974, the Committee approved three articles of impeachment against Nixon, for obstruction of justice, abuse of power, and contempt of Congress, and reported those articles to the House of Representatives. Two other articles of impeachment were debated but not approved. Before the House could vote on the impeachment resolutions, Nixon made public one of the additional conversations, known as the "Smoking Gun Tape", which made clear his complicity in the cover-up. With his political support completely eroded, Nixon resigned from office on August 9, 1974. It is widely believed that had Nixon not resigned, his impeachment by the House and removal from office by a trial before the United States Senate would have occurred. "

Trump, Putin Bonded Over Their Disdain For 'Fake News' : TPM

Russian President Vladimir Putin likes President Trump’s “fake news” dismissal of critical reports in the media just as much as the President himself

During a sit-down with Putin in Japan on Friday — in which Trump jokingly warned Putin not to meddle in the 2020 election — Trump boasted about how “great” the term “fake news” is.

“Get rid of them,” Trump said, referring to the press. “Fake news is a great term, isn’t it? You don’t have this problem in Russia, but we do.”

“We also have,” Putin responded. “It’s the same.”

The bond over disparagement of the media was particularly stinging, given at least 26 journalists have been murdered in Russia since Putin took the presidency. As Mediaite noted, the joke between the two world leaders comes on the day of the anniversary of the shooting at the Capital Gazette newspaper that left five people dead

The exact quote about John McCain being dead from Trump... Daily Kos:

“We needed 60 votes,” said Trump. “And we had 51 votes. And sometimes, you know, we had a little hard time with a couple of them. Right? Fortunately, they're gone now. They've gone on to greener pastures. Or perhaps … far less green pastures. They're gone, Bill. Very happy they're gone."

Here is a link to this quote from the Daily Kos:

https://www.dailykos.com/stories/2019/6/26/1867432/-Trump-claims-Mueller-a-criminal-very-happy-McCain-is-dead-and-Fed-chief-is-a-pu-not-tough

Title of article at link..: Trump claims Mueller a criminal, is 'very happy' McCain is dead, and Fed chief is 'a pu— '

If you scroll down, first there is a screen with Fox’s Maria Bartiromo...Please skip that one...Then there are two pictures of Trump talking (with blue backgrounds) The second picture of him is the one where he says this. The name above the 2 pictures of Trump talking is....Aaron Rupar. The entire quote about the "greener pastures" in the second Trump video with Rupar's name is ..39 seconds. That is where Trump says, "They have gone on to greener pastures, Or perhaps...less greener." He is smiling as he says this horrific sentence. You got to see it, to believe it. Sorry this was so difficult to post, but later, someone will post just the 39 seconds. Thank You for reading this far.

A prayer to get through this day and this moment:

God grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change,
The courage to change the things I can,
And the wisdom to know the difference

A picture has arrived. It could destroy Trump...picture from CNN

Warning: This shows a father and his daughter lying dead at the border.

I guess it depends on how many people see this, and understand that Trump is responsible. If these people would have been able to cross legally, (for whatever reason) and felt safe doing so, they would not be dead. Trump is responsible for setting up this situation. We all know that. Everyone knows this. This is it in my opinion. Very sad. And yes, I could be wrong. Yes, some people don't care, but most of us do care.

This is about "why"? The Immigration Crises. Yes, we have had a flood of immigrants before..

When? From 1890 to 1924. Where from? Ireland, Russia, Poland, Ukraine, China, etc, etc. You name it, and that is where they came from. Why?..lots of reasons: 1. religious freedom, 2. economic advancement, 3. economic opportunity 4. desire to start a new life in a "free country" 4. ease of entrance 5. possibility of getting education. 6. friends and relatives did it urged them to come too 7. sections of cities were welcoming areas where their language was spoken and their churches were..
..How did they enter? The immigrants stayed at Ellis Island for a week to prove that they did not have tuberculosis and they had to be able to read a language, (any language) That is it. Industry was growing everywhere and we needed cheap labor. It was in the country's best interest to have these people.
(all four of my grandparents came in 1910 from Russia what is now Ukraine.)

...Why did it change? After World War One, there was a need to blame someone for the horrific deaths that were reported and that countries experienced. The immigrants were blamed. They were an easy target, even though the U.S. deaths in WWI were minor compared to other countries. The Russian Revolution created fear, and competition for jobs was strong. Immigrants worked for less, so the cost of labor was low. People who were here before were angry with the immigrants. They spoke a different language, they lived in their own neighborhoods, they often went to private schools, had churches etc.etc.etc. So as a result of these reasons and others not mentioned, the immigration act of 1924 was passed through Congress and became law. After 1924, the law created quotas for certain countries to allow their citizens to enter and stay here. So therefore, so many thousands could come from Ireland, Russia, Mexico, China etc. Systems were set up to control the numbers, where there were few in the first 20 years of the 1900s. There was also anti immigrant "hate" for lots of reasons.

So why are these people coming here? Same as before, to start a new life, and give opportunity to their children. Getting in was relatively easy. You come in for a short time, yes visitors are allowed in, of course, and you stay. period. So what is new? This administration is rounding them up, (those that are here beyond their times or came in illegally) and throwing their children into these detention centers. That is new.

Before Trump, we let them stay, some got thrown out, most stayed in illegally. The new children were citizens because they were born here and life went on. The kids melted in because they spoke almost perfect English because they spoke it at school and learned it. Life went on for better or worse.

Now, we round them up, and basically throw the kids in jail. So..who decided to do this?...It was President Trump who decided to change the way we treated these people. Why? "Got to get rid of them you know" says his supporters. And Drump says the same thing. Throw the kids in jail. The immigration and border patrol catch them and basically do that (with orders from Drump) Kids are suppurated from parents. (says Trump) That is it and that is all of it.

Duncan Hunter & Trump are alike in one aspect: They are both sure they can get away with anything

Anything goes. Anything can be said about anything and there will be..no consequences at all After the current mess is over (whatever that is) the two are sure that they can get away with more. The story about Hunter and what he did, is similar to Trump in that Hunter's behavior reflects someone who is not worried that anything negative can happen to him. Kinda like "above reproach" "above any law" "above anyone ever doing anything to me" "I can get away with anything, any time, or any place." "No one will stop me."

...I read about what Hunter did to his wife and what he did to the political funds and the rest. His attitude is totally unworried about consequences. totally, and that is the same as Trump...No consequences to what is said or what he does.

..It is clear about the children in cages too. No consequences to Trump. He is not worried about any of the consequences. He is sure he will get away with it. I sure hope he is wrong about that. ....
..

As a side note about Hunter..his wife has agreed as part of her guilty plea to testify against her husband and what he has been charged with. That will be something..
