Kaepernick faces no charges in Miami...

The Miami-Dade State Attorney’s Office announced Thursday it does not have enough evidence to prosecute Kaepernick, 49ers receiver Quinton Patton or Seattle wide receiver Ricardo Lockette in what was initially reported as a “suspicious incident."
------
"The complainant's allegations in this matter have been thoroughly investigated," according to the closeout memo.

"However, there is no evidence to indicate that she was the victim of any crime. Because of her altered mental status for the night of this incident, she was unable to provide any testimony to prove that she was sexually assaulted or the victim of any other offense.

"The medical examination of her body did not reveal any evidence of physical trauma. A forensic biological analysis of her rape kit swabs revealed no seminal fluid and her toxicology tests only revealed the presence of drugs that she admitted to consuming (i.e., marijuana) or drugs that were administered to her by medical professionals after she became incoherent."

Rare footage shows FDR walking to seat at 1937 All Star game..

Rare film footage featuring President Franklin D. Roosevelt walking to his seat at a baseball game helps dispel the myth that he completely hid his disability and shows the courage it took to go about his daily life, experts said Friday.

The clip shows FDR, who was paralyzed from the waist down by polio in 1921, grasping a rail with one hand while being supported on the other side by an assistant. FDR used a wheelchair because he could walk only with braces on his legs and the support of a cane.

"Here is FDR going to a stadium full of people," said Bob Clark, deputy director of FDR's Presidential Library and Museum. "Even the simple act of going to a baseball game required a great deal of logistics and preparation."

Former Major League Baseball player Jimmie DeShong shot the film at the 1937 All-Star game in Washington. On Thursday, the Pennsylvania State Archives in Harrisburg announced it had acquired the clip from the family of DeShong, a native of the state's capital city.

That looks nasty. Costas is in no shape to be hosting NBC's coverage of the Olympics. Matt Lauer is now temporarily taking over for him..

Ashley Wagner's "Bullshit" Face Moment

Ashley Wagner, as you may recall, failed to finish in the top three at the U.S. Championships but made the Olympic team anyway: a fact that rankled a few people in the skating world, and some fans as well. And now here she is making her debut in the Winter Olympics, where the U.S. skating darling … finished fourth.

Don't know much about figure skating but it appears Wagner doesn't deserve to be there. Therefore, I hope she wins nothing in the way of medals..

NFL awards Thursday contract to CBS...

The NFL has decided to shift eight of its Thursday night games to a broadcast network, and announced Wednesday that CBS won the bid to showcase more of television's hottest property.

CBS will air the games during the first eight weeks of the season with its top broadcast team of Jim Nantz and Phil Simms, simulcasting them with the NFL Network. The league's cable network will show six Thursday night games alone later in the season, produced by CBS with Nantz and Simms also in the booth. Two Saturday games are included in the deal, but it is unclear whether they will be on CBS or the NFL Network.
-----
The NFL started a limited package of Thursday games in 2006, and showed 13 games on the NFL Network this past season. Its goal is to both increase the visibility of the NFL Network through promotion on television's most-watched network, along with putting the Thursday games on firmer footing, said Brian Rolapp, the league's executive vice president for media.

''We want to make Thursday night football as big as possible in the minds of the NFL fan,'' Rolapp said.

Well, if nothing else, this should cut down on the number of people complaining they can't see the Thursday games because they don't get the NFL Network.

Super Bowl Will Be Surrounded By Pro-Marijuana Billboards...

Welcome to Super Baked XLVIII … or for brevity’s sake, let’s just call it High V. As you know, it’s the first Super Bowl between two teams from states where marijuana is legal, and of course that means the pro-marijuana factions will be out in force around MetLife Stadium in New Jersey, where it is not (except for medicinal purposes).

Yeah, the graphic above will be on a billboard near Met Life on Sunday, as will the four below.

Richard Sherman fined for taunting...

http://espn.go.com/nfl/playoffs/2013/story/_/id/10346713/richard-sherman-seattle-seahawks-fined-7875-taunting-nfc-championship-game

Seattle Seahawks cornerback Richard Sherman was fined $7,875 for unsportsmanlike conduct/taunting in the final minute of the NFC Championship Game against San Francisco. Sherman's fine was confirmed by the league Friday.

Sherman was flagged after he made a choking gesture toward the San Francisco bench that he said was directed at quarterback Colin Kaepernick. Sherman had just deflected a pass intended for Michael Crabtree in the end zone that was intercepted by linebacker Malcolm Smith and clinched Seattle's 23-17 victory.

Sherman ran over and after tapping Crabtree on the backside and extended his hand for a handshake. Crabtree then shoved Sherman in the face. The All-Pro cornerback then made the choking gesture.

Sherman was the only player fined in the game.

Hmm..I guess the NFL didn't get the message that according to some, Sherman is now a wise philosopher and an expert in coded racial slurs..
