Norah Jones covered Soundgarden at Fox Theatre last night

Norah Jones played at the Fox Theatre in Detroit Tuesday night and paid tribute to Soundgarden frontman Chris Cornell with a haunting version of "Black Hole Sun" on the piano solo.

Soundgarden played their last show with Cornell at the Fox Theatre last Wednesday. After the show, Cornell committed suicide in his hotel room at the MGM Grande Detroit.

The news shocked the music world and fans of Soundgarden. many bands and artists have paid tribute to Cornell with covers of Soundgarden and Audioslave songs, but we think this rendition of the classic Soundgarden song may be the best one yet. Not only is Jones playing on the last stage Cornell ever performed on, but her rendition is just simply gorgeous.

Trump Failing to Track Foreign Cash at His Hotels

Source: NBC

Just before taking office, President Donald Trump promised to donate all profits earned from foreign governments back to the U.S. Treasury.

But MSNBC has learned the Trump Organization is not tracking all possible payments it receives from foreign governments, according to new admissions by Trump representatives. By failing to track foreign payments it receives, the company will be hard-pressed to meet Trump's pledge to donate foreign profits and could even increase its legal exposure.

The Trump Organization does not "attempt to identify individual travelers who have not specifically identified themselves as being a representative of a foreign government entity," according to a new company pamphlet. The policy suggests it is up to foreign governments, not Trump hotels, to determine whether they self-report their business.

That policy matches what several sources told MSNBC — Trump Organization employees are not soliciting information about whether reservations or business is from a foreign government.

A job opportunity for DU's crazy cat people (must have cattitude and be able to move to Dublin):

Imagine a world where you could spend your days cuddling adorable fluffy kittens.

A Dublin-based veterinary clinic is making that dream a reality as they're advertising a "cat cuddler" role. It sounds like the best job in the world.

Just Cats veterinary clinic in Clonsilla, Dublin, is looking for a "crazy cat person" who "loves cats". Among other requirements includes "cattitude" — whatever that means. The ideal candidate will have a track record of feeding stray cats in your locality and they'll feel "warm and fuzzy" when they pet cats.

The Handmaids Tale designer loves seeing her costumes at protests

“I don’t think there’s ever been a moment bigger in my whole career. But it’s beyond my career. It has nothing to do with that, in the same breath. What it did was grab my soul.”

Source: Think Progress

In March, Ane Crabtree, the costume designer for Hulu’s new series The Handmaid’s Tale, got an unusual request: A group of women in Texas wanted to dress up like Handmaids for a protest. Could Crabtree help?

...

Crabtree told ThinkProgress that the message she received from these Texas women, via Twitter, was “essentially, woman to woman, are you able to help us?” One of the women had seen Handmaids costumes at SXSW — part of the series’ promotional road show — and wanted to see if Crabtree could give them advice about how to replicate the costumes “and make it look right.”

...

But she wanted to help. “The point is this amazing plan to be this strong, quiet voice of womanhood and using this iconic thing that really has nothing to do with me. It was really moving, to be honest with you,” she said. So she passed along some ideas — “what I would tell anybody who is, on the fly, trying to make it look the same” — and told them, “good luck, I wish I was with you. I am in spirit.”

...

This Tuesday, women in Texas were at it again: In Handmaid gear from head to toe in the Texas Capitol Rotunda, chanting “Shame! Shame!” in protest of an anti-abortion bill. Expect to see more Handmaids at a state capitol near you in the future. Crabtree got another note two weeks ago from someone planning an upcoming protest. “Every time it happens I actually, physically fall to the floor crying, because it’s more than emotional. It goes through my soul, when I read this. I never thought that a girl from my upbringing, from Kentucky, from a very conservative place, from my background, I never thought that I would have anything to say, even indirectly, via costumes.”

Trump administration hits reset in FBI director search

Source: CNN

(CNN)The team tasked by the White House with finding a new director for the FBI is resetting its search, a senior administration official told CNN.

President Donald Trump said last week that he was "very close" to choosing a new FBI director to replace James Comey, who was leading the investigation into possible Trump campaign ties to Russia and was fired earlier this month. The circumstances surrounding the firing have attracted broad attention, with senators calling for an unimpeachable, nonpartisan appointment to the position designed to be a 10-year term.

At one point, former Sen. Joe Lieberman was considered a leading candidate, but Trump has since decided he wants to see a broader range of candidates for the job, the official said.

Lieberman is partners at the same law firm as Marc Kasowitz, whom Trump is expected to hire as part of a team on matters related to the inquiry into his campaign's alleged ties to Russia. The official said Kasowitz's hiring hasn't affected the FBI director search.

The many ways Trump has tried to intervene in the Russia investigation, in one chart

Source: Vox

President Trump can’t seem to leave the Russia investigation alone, even though doing so might’ve let the story die down. First he fired FBI Director James Comey, and now he’s reportedly trying to quash special counsel Robert Mueller’s investigation with an obscure ethics rule; he keeps feeding the story, to his own detriment.

But here’s the thing: Trump might not know how else to get what he wants.

During the campaign, he bragged about his ability to bend people to his will. All it took was a little greasing of the wheels — with money, power, and a bit of charm.
