Yet it remains defiantly proud. The Motown sound, embraced around the world, still resonates. Downtown, and in the Midtown and New Center neighborhoods, economic and residential growth has been exponential. The QLine streetcar on Woodward Avenue and MoGo, the city’s first public bike share program, are to begin operating this month. Later this year, the Detroit Pistons (N.B.A.) and Detroit Red Wings (N.H.L.) will move into the new Little Caesars Arena on Woodward. And at its core, residents old and new are injecting a remarkable vibrancy into the city.

President Trump hosted correspondents from TIME for a nearly 100-minute wide-ranging discussion on Monday, May 8 over a four-course dinner in the Blue Room of the White House. Joined by Vice President Mike Pence and two senior Administration officials, Trump weaved between topics and frequently went off the record. On the job

I find the job very natural for me. I find–it’s a very big job obviously, there’s no job big like this. No job is important like this. But I think some of the–I just think it’s something that works for me, it feels very natural to me.

And all I said, the job, it is, it’s a difficult job but it’s a job that I find to be–I love doing it. I love helping people. Mike [Pence] is doing a fantastic job. He fits it so well. I mean we have a great team, he and I guess, they say we’re somewhat opposite and that works to be a very good combination.

On deal making in business vs. deal making in Washington

It’s never different. I think it’s never different. It’s always the same. You have to know your subject. And that would be the misconception of misconceptions for that. I mean, it’s not that I–look, I always had health care for my company. But it’s not that I–it was just something that wasn’t high on my list. I had people that negotiated for my company.

But in a short period of time I understood everything there was to know about health care. And we did the right negotiating, and actually it’s a very interesting subject.

A tweet thread by former Deputy Director of the CIA David S. Cohen reveals the former intelligence official’s thoughts on news that Russian ambassadors met in the Oval Office with President Donald Trump.

The first tweet was written by former national security advisor Colin Kahl, which begged the “deadly serious” question of whether it was “a good idea to let a Russian gov photographer & all their equipment into the Oval Office?”

Former Dep. Director Cohen responded, on Twitter: “no, it was not.”

In subsequent tweets, Kahl went on to say that when he worked for Barack Obama’s administration, he “couldn’t let foreign delegations bring phones/cameras” into his own office in the Eisenhower Executive Office Building, and that he had to leave his own phone and camera outside the Oval Office when he worked there.

An animal rights group claims important animal welfare records are missing from the U.S. Department of Agriculture's website.

The Humane Society of the United States on Tuesday said it struggled to produce its annual report on puppy mills because of missing data from the agency on pet breeders.

USDA removed all of its animal welfare inspection reports and most enforcement records from its website on Feb. 3.

The agency claimed it removed the records during litigation in an “abundance of caution” to “protect individual privacy."

It's about time employers everywhere take the child care needs of their employees more seriously, but it looks like the Australian parliament is light years ahead of the game.

Alia Joy Waters, the weeks-old daughter of Senator Larissa Waters, has made political history by becoming the first baby to be breastfed in the Australian parliament.

According to The Telegraph, Senator Waters returned to parliament today for the first time since giving birth to her second daughter, and brought Alia with her while she voted. When Alia Joy was hungry, Waters didn't hesitate to do what she needed to do and breastfed her daughter in the Senate Chamber.
