Treasury secretarys wife boasts of travel on government plane, touts Hermes and Valentino fashion

Source: Washington Post

U.S. Treasury Secretary Steven Mnuchin’s wife, Louise Linton, boasted of flying on a government plane with her husband to Kentucky on Monday and then named the numerous fashion brands she wore on the trip in an unusual social media post that only became more bizarre minutes later.

When someone posted a comment on Linton's Instagram picture that criticized the way Linton touted the trip, the treasury secretary's wife swung back hard, mentioning the extreme wealth she and her husband control.

“Did you think this was a personal trip?!” Linton wrote on her Instagram page, responding to the person who had written “glad we could pay for your little getaway.”

(Linton's Instagram account was later made “private” so that it could not be publicly seen).

Elaine Chao stands by her man 'both of them'

Source: Politico

Transportation Secretary Elaine Chao said Tuesday that she stood by both her husband and President Donald Trump, despite the public feud that has erupted between the two in recent weeks.

“I stand by my man, both of them,” Chao said when, appearing with the president in New York, she was asked at a news conference on transportation policy whether she agreed with Trump’s statements slamming the work of her husband, Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell.

Trump has recently decried Senate Republicans’ inability to push through their party’s major legislative items, including health care and tax reform. Trump has been particularly critical of McConnell’s leadership, openly griping about the failure to repeal Obamacare.

...

Chao’s comments came on the heels of a heated exchange between Trump and the press in which the president staunchly defended his initial response to the white supremacist rally in Charlottesville, Va., over the weekend.

Activist Calls Red Wings Hypocritical For Objecting Logo Use

Source: CBS Detroit

...

The team said in a statement Saturday it “vehemently” disagrees with the rally and is in no way associated with it. The logo of the NHL club could be seen on items held by people at the rally, including a Michigan-based white nationalist group called the Detroit Right Wings. But Sam Riddle, political director of the Michigan National Action Network, says the Red Wings are hypocritical for objecting to white supremacists using their logo in Charlottesville.

He argues that the Red Wings are hypocritical because they’re allowing Kid Rock — who has been known to use the Confederate Flag during his shows — to open Little Caesars Arena next month.

...

Kid Rock is scheduled to hold six shows in September at the brand new Little Caesars Arena in Detroit. Kid Rock, who is also potentially running for U.S. Senator, has previously had the Confederate Flag part of his shows. General Motors dropped its partnership with Kid Rock last year because of his use of the Confederate Flag, however, his representatives say he hasn’t used it on tour in years.

...

“Kid Rock’s history of waving that flag as such that he should not be opening up for the Red Wings’ new arena in America’s blackest and poorest city, Detroit,” Riddle said. “His history of glorifying the symbol of hate, the Confederate Flag, outweighs his new pattern of behavior if it does in fact exist.”

"Hey everyone I'm a clown... here's my take on male violence in America"

This was on my Twitter feed this morning (retweeted by Felicia Day).

https://twitter.com/boguspress/status/896501273989480448
Hey everyone I'm a clown and I just got back from facepainting at a picnic and here's my take on male violence in America:

It starts young. And it's more than just letting boys play with guns, it's how we shame them for feeling anything that isn't anger.

A 4yo boy asked me to paint a blue butterfly on his face. Then his mom told me "no, he doesn't want that."

"Butterflies are beautiful, he said that's what he wants, shouldn't I paint what he wants?"
"No give him something for boys"

She turns to dad, a big guy in a jersey, and says accusingly,
"Do you want your son to have a butterfly on his face?"
He says "No."

Which, cool, let's bring your husbands masculinity into it too. Because your 4yo kid needs to know that his father would be ashamed too

I really tried you guys, but this woman was so scared of her son wanting a butterfly she made me paint a skull and crossbones on his cheek.

When I finished the skull I said to kiddo
"You want a little blue butterfly too?"
He nods.
Mom interrupts "You didn't ask me."

I say in my kindest fuck you voice
"Oh I'm sorry, I thought this was for HIM."
"I'm his MOTHER. You need to ask me." She says.

"SORRY." I say and wave good bye to the kid. And I am. I'm sorry that he is not allowed to love something as miraculous and beautiful as a 🦋

I'm sorry that he was shamed for wanting to share in the joy that is the miracle and wonder of nature.

I see this all the time. And I really feel for these boys, because the girls don't get it as bad. Being a tomboy is slightly more normalized

And when girls want skulls or sharks the parents shrug and laugh like "haha she's a kooky kid!" Because maleness and masculinity isn't a sin

But when a boy want to enjoy something for its beauty, they are told it's not for them. Not in this house. Not in this family.

We are teaching them that anger & violence r the only things they are allowed to experience. That to value beauty & elegance is shameful

I know that it was just facepaint, but that's sort of my point. Why in the hell are these parents shaming their boys over FACEPAINT

Honestly don't even get me started on the balloons.

So the next time you are incredulous about how the govt could shut down our national parks, or build the pipeline, or nuke the planet...

Think about what this four year old boy asked for 🦋
And what he got ☠️
