Mayor Adams announces executive order aimed at restricting Texas Gov. Greg Abbott's migrant busing

Source: Politico

NEW YORK — Mayor Eric Adams issued an executive order Wednesday to restrict the flow of migrant charter buses sent by Texas Gov. Greg Abbott to New York City.

Adams said the order mandates any buses carrying migrants arrive in the city only between 8:30 a.m. and noon on weekdays. The buses’ arrival must also be announced 32 hours in advance, he said. The order specifically applies to buses contracted by the state of Texas — whose governor Adams routinely blames for sending asylum seekers into the five boroughs.

The announcement came during a joint briefing with the mayors of Chicago and Denver. The three cities have formed a coalition to press the White House and federal government for more migrant aid as each metropolis grapples with the economic and governmental burden of housing, feeding and educating tens of thousands of migrants.

...

Adams said violating his order would result in a misdemeanor punishable by fines or the impounding of charter buses. He also raised the possibility his administration would file lawsuits against violators.

Amazon Prime Video viewers will have to pay an extra $2.99 monthly in January to avoid ads

Amazon Prime Video viewers seeking to avoid ads during shows and movies will have to pay an extra $2.99 per month starting in late January.

The ad-free tier will officially roll out Jan. 29 and come on top of the $139 annual cost of an Amazon Prime subscription, or the $8.99-a-month standalone Amazon Prime Video subscription.

That means users who choose not to pay the extra fee to go ad-free will start seeing commercials on Prime Video content starting on the same date.

Amazon previously announced its intention to show ads on Prime Video in September, though it said it hoped to show "meaningfully fewer ads than linear TV and other streaming TV providers."

Melania Thinks It's Time to 'Leave Her Mark on History'

Melania Trump is reportedly ready for her moment in the spotlight. The former first lady, who’s made only a handful of public appearances since Donald Trump left office, was reportedly encouraged by her “positive reception” at Rosalynn Carter’s funeral. She’s “feeling more sure of herself—as both her husband’s representative and her own position as a diplomatic figure,” a Trumpworld source told Page Six. Earlier this month, Melania also gave a speech at the National Archives Naturalization Ceremony in Washington, D.C., where she shared her own difficult path to citizenship with the crowd. “Melania realizes it’s her time to join the ranks of historic first ladies and leave her mark on history… She feels better prepared for her potential role the second time around,” the source said. “Trump and his family are so secure that he will become president again that insiders at Mar-a-Lago say he’s reached an agreement with [wife] Melania [Trump] to step up top-tier diplomatic appearances in 2024,” the source added.

Airstrike Kills U.N. Worker and More Than 76 of His Relatives

Source: NYT

Issam Al Mughrabi had worked at the U.N. Development Program for 30 years. Officials said he died along with his wife, five children and more than 70 other relatives.

A U.N. aid worker and more than 70 members of his extended family were killed on Friday near Gaza City, the same day that aid agencies sharply criticized the U.N. Security Council for passing a resolution that did not call for a full cease-fire in the besieged enclave.

An Israeli airstrike killed Issam Al Mughrabi, who had worked at the U.N. Development Program for 30 years, and his wife, his five children, and more than 70 members of his extended family, Achim Steiner, an administrator at the agency, said in a statement.

“The loss of Issam and his family has deeply affected us all,” he said. “The U.N. and civilians in Gaza are not a target.”

The Israeli military did not immediately comment on the report.

I'm wondering why they filmed themselves on this trip to Israel and put this out (Jared and Ivanka)...

I’m wondering why they filmed themselves on this trip to Israel and put this out, and why they said they were too busy with their kids to be able to show up for court.
