The City of Milwaukee says 18,803 people voted in person today. Another 56,489 have returned absentee ballots, with as many as 40,223 still potentially in transit (issued but not yet returned). Total turnout: at least 75,292.

In the 2016 spring election, 167,765 people voted in the City of Milwaukee, so this is a steep, steep dropoff.

This is horrific. Two French doctors on live television are discussing how a potential new treatment against #covid19 should be first tested in Africa, "where are no masks, no treatment, no reanimation", "the same way experimental treatment for AIDS was done on prostitutes".

It's 2020 in France &we still see people from Africa as subjects for experimentation. This is what normalized racism looks like.AFAIK,nobody jumped in to counter the arguments, both doctors agreed. Same, the way sex-workers are considered: like objects that can be used for tests.

Translation
Dr Mira: "If I can be provocative, shouldn't we do this study in Africa, where there are no masks, no treatment, no resuscitation, a bit like it has been done in some studies in AIDS, where among prostitutes, we try things, because they are exposed, and

...they don't protect themselves, what do you think?"

Dr Locht: "So you are right[...]we're thinking in parallel to a study in Africa precisely to make this same type of approach w/ BCG [vaccine]placebo,I think there is a call for tenders that was released or that will be released & I think we will indeed srsly think about that too"

A Couple Made a Mini-Museum for Their Gerbils to Visit During Quarantine

As the pandemic continues, two self-quarantined Londoners decided their gerbils needed an art-filled space to unwind.

Pandoro and Tiramisù are not your ordinary gerbils. The London-based pair got a special surprise when their owners, Filippo and Marianna, created a miniature museum just for them during the current COVID-19 quarantine.

Since a photo was published on Twitter this past weekend, the miniature museum has started to go viral. I had to ask the duo about their adorable structure, which was erected as most museums across the UK remain closed. Both Filippo and Marianna are art lovers, with one working in a local museum and the other as an artist and writer. The gerbils declined to comment.

Hyperallergic: Tell us about your gerbils!

Filippo and Marianna: They are 9-month-old brothers and their names are Pandoro and Tiramisù. Pandoro is tawny while Tiramisù is the taupe one.

H: Have they demonstrated a love of art before?

F&M: Not really, this was their first time in a museum. They much enjoyed the display and paid close attention to the quality of the gallery’s props. They can’t read so the sign to advise the visitors to not chew [on the furniture] went completely unnoticed. Overall, it seemed to be a satisfying and engaging experience.
