'zactly. And as an "extreme" (so some say) leftwing Black activist

I'll take an ally who doesn't need to *evolve* and remained on the people's side for decades any day.

Sanders 26 years ago sounds exactly like Sanders today

This is a bit long so I expect it to sink like a rock but for any sincerely open-minded voter who wonders if Sanders is too good to be true, listen to him 26 years ago on C-SPAN when he was only a 4-time Mayor and the audience reaction.

They discuss politics, going outside of the Democratic and Republican Party paradigms if we want to change anything, economics, socialism, healthcare, crime, hopelessness, education, corporations, youth programs, media etc

I admire a person on the people's side who plans their work and works their plan for over 30 years.

Feel the Bern, make em Feel the Bern, all the way to the White House Feel The Bern

The Pied piper Bernie Sanders for the middle class, while the GOP wants to put our interest last, he’s gon give it to you raw, no hesitation, with the right ideas to lead this great nation, no handouts no special interests groups, he don’t lie to get votes he’s telling you the truth, and while the media wants to down play him, He’s still gonna fight tell em all he ain’t playing, pushing for higher wages so we all can feed our families, The only one I know who can conquer this Insanity, of this wall street bickering, belittling the poor, dollar bills only thing they’re considering, when people need health care, kids need school, when it comes to politics Bernie’s breaking rules, no attack ads on the competition needed, he’s running on the facts and its something that we needed,

Feel the Bern, make em Feel the Bern, all the way to the White House Feel The Bern,
Feel the Bern, make em Feel the Bern, tell the haters on the Right, They can feel the Bern,
Feel the Bern, make em Feel the Bern, all the way to the White House Feel The Bern,
Feel the Bern, make em Feel the Bern, tell the haters on the Left, They can feel the Bern,

You see them scared shook, “he’s a democratic socialist”, but they don’t even know what it means they just roll with it, get over it, check the resume, fighting for civil rights ever since the first day, while other candidates, still with their hands out, we do it old school grassroots standout, cuz this is our time to have our voices heard, you fat cats had your chance now it’s our turn, they say he can’t win cuz he’s just too liberal, way too extreme, too honest, too cynical, they want another robot politician the same old rhetoric, now they’re gonna listen

Rapper drops Clinton for Sanders

By Deena Zaru, CNN

Updated 0233 GMT (0933 HKT) August 11, 2015

Lil B explains why he switched his allegiance, his take on the black vote in the 2016 race and the "Black Lives Matter" movement

...

But last month, Lil B took that endorsement back, and in a series of passionate tweets, he publicly endorsed Bernie Sanders, saying, "As much as I want to a woman leading the USA, right now it's all about Bernie ... he's the real he loves us."

The 25-year-old rapper is a former member of the San Francisco rap crew The Pack, who were best known during the mid 2000s for their Billboard-charting hit "Vans." He is outspoken about racial inequality, the criminal justice system and poverty in both his freestyle lyrics and as a motivational speaker, and he has given lectures at universities including MIT, UCLA and NYU.

In an interview with CNN, Lil B explained why he switched his allegiance from Clinton to Sanders, his take on the black vote in the 2016 race and the "Black Lives Matter" movement.

On why he dropped Clinton for Sanders

"No one's really been saying anything about Hillary Clinton besides that she's a woman and running for office," Lil B said. "To me, it's kind of like the same thing when Obama was running, but the difference is Obama seemed to have a more down-to-earth personality."

African American Female Checking In

Hi y'all

Not sure how much to say because I have serious problems with Sanders on several issues but even on those, not to mention overall, he's miles ahead of those others.

So he'll get my vote in the Primaries and the General. If he doesn't make it to the Generals, count me out of the pony show too- I'll write Sanders in on the Democratic ballot as principle.

Just thought I'd say hi to all my friends because with few exceptions and very few surprises, this is exactly where I knew I'd find almost all the DU allies whose thoughts and activism I've not just admired, but relied on over the years.

Hi y'all

Edit: Thank you ALL for the warm welcome and the kind recs! I did not expect this and it's very heartwarming.

I'M HOME indeed!

Yeah you do but your white guilt is supposed to make you shut up

and meekly accept the rantings of some very manipulative people sipping on "white tears" trying to knock out the advance of a fast-spreading and dangerous grassroots political movement that's upsetting the political dynasties of the US AND world economic machines against the poor:

Marissa Janae Johnson and Mara Jacqueline Willaford are co-founders of the Black Lives Matter chapter in Seattle that interrupted Bernie Sanders today..

From: http://www.cnn.com/2015/08/08/politics/bernie-sanders-black-lives-matter-protesters/index.html

"Sipping on white tears"''- that's most of what you need to know about the co-founder of BLM Seattle who disrupted an important political even celebrating Medicare and Social Security- as if those programs mean so little to US Blacks whose lives matter so much so that neoconservatives and neoliberals who have never cared about social justice can continue walking all over us and waging war against the disenfranchised poor of the world, which by the fucking way includes many Black Americans.

Some brave person please just rip the shirt off that idiot and replace it with one that says "SIPPING ON TEARS OF THE WORLDWIDE POOR".

"Keeping people stirred up against him" (Sanders) -- and --"don't give him a chance" (Sanders)-- and -- "Destroying the enemy completely" (Sanders)

But hah, many of us African Americans aren't falling for this way too obvious bullshit- the dirty race tactics of 2008 meant to divide the populace weren't that long ago- nor are solid Leftists who have serious problems with some things Sanders whitewashes, like the Military Industrial Complex from which he doesn't propose cutting a dime or the ongoing genocide of Palestinians which is near and dear to the hearts of many non-neoliberal POC, but we damn well know the other candidates are much worse on those issues.

Black lives matter but god damnit, ALL LIVES MATTER. Shoot me now as a Black woman for saying that the lives of the millions of Iraqis, Libyans, Yemenis, Guatemalans, etcFuckingC, destroyed (either physically or existentially) matter AS MUCH as the lives of innocent Black people gunned down in the US.

Pay attention to the very sudden interest in the well-being of poor Blacks, the exclusion of other poor, even other oppressed POC, and Fart it off to the divisive dungpile it all came from.

Black Lives Matter protesters shut down Sanders event in Seattle - ABSOLUTE INSANITY.

Good God, I swore I'd never post here again but this insanity is too fucking much.

Oh yeah, for added emphasis,

Signed,

An African American Voting US citizen with a god damn longer track on issues affecting Black Americans than haha all these newly found "allies".

About Catherina

There are times that one wishes one was smarter than one is so that when one looks out at the world and sees the problems one wishes one knew the answers and I don\'t know the answers. I think sometimes one wishes one was dumber than one is so one doesn\'t have to look out into the world and see the pain that\'s out there and the horrible situations that are out there, and not know what to do - Bernie Sanders http://www.democraticunderground.com/128040277
