Holy Herring Breath! Berkeley Breathed has been lurking in GD-P

“I admire the serene assurance of those who have religious faith."

"It is wonderful to observe the calm confidence of a Christian with four aces.” -Mark Twain

Clearly we don't have any Christians holding four aces in GD-P.

I don't think I've seen a less serene environment since the last time I ran the lawnmower over the big fire ant nest down by the utility pole.

Carson is my favorite for the Republican nomination

By my favorite I think he would be the easiest of the Republican candidates for any Democrat to beat in the general, Trump, Cruz, Rubio and even Jeb! would be more difficult. Carson's only real appeal would be to evangelicals and although they are a reliable voting bloc and a fairly large one they aren't enough to offset the voters who would be put off by Carson's blatant idiocy and his race.

So the way I see it if Sanders can simultaneously bash the media's obsession with personality and ever so gently promote the least electable of the major Republican candidates then it's a win-win situation.

Birmingham Alabama launches first in nation electric bike share program..

Birmingham Mayor William Bell said it's been more than a decade since he's ridden a bike, but he donned the helmet Wednesday and led a group ride unlike any the city has seen before.

It was a parade of cyclists from Regions Field to Birmingham City Hall on bikes from the new Zyp BikeShare program.

(. . .)

West said the bikeshare program was the first in North America with electric pedal assist bikes, which have a motor that will help riders get up Birmingham's many hills.

"We are not only launching the most high-tech bikeshare system in the U.S.," she said, "but we are launching the most beautiful system in the world right now."

Hey, wanna hear whose name is a rude British slang word?

RIP George Barris

In 1965, producers of the “Batman” television show needed a supercar that Adam West could wield to battle the Joker and the Riddler.

There was just one man for the job: George Barris.

“I saw the script and it said, 'Bang,' 'Pow,' 'Boom,' ” Barris told The Times in 2012. “That's exactly what I wanted the car to be able to do. I wanted it to be as big a character as the actors themselves.”

It took 15 days and $15,000 for Barris to transform a 1955 Ford Lincoln Futura into the iconic midnight black and fluorescent-red-pinstriped Batmobile with plexiglass bubble windshields — “bulletproof,” of course. He didn’t forget the Bat Ray, with its dual 450-watt laser beams for obliterating obstacles, the Bat-O-Meter for identifying the bad guys, or the oil squirters for repelling evildoers.

I find your lack of faith disturbing

Interesting choice of slur...

Clearly conservatives are truly awful people.

Democracy is PROBABLY DOOMED anyway, BS supporters need to get over themselves

What can one man possibly accomplish against the massed might of the Borg and Sauron?

Make it so you fools.

If you are going to vote for the establishment candidate why are you on Democratic Underground?

The name Democratic Underground has two components, Democratic and Underground, a certain group always wants to only mention the Democratic part and forget the Underground part.

If this is just another establishment-supporting website then a lot of us have been in the wrong place for a long time because the establishment is and has been an ongoing disaster for America and the American people for at least the last thirty years.

After being here in 2002-2003 and reading the despair and anger over the Iraq war I have real trouble understanding how any DUer can vote for someone who touted, supported and voted for that war over someone who correctly voted against it. Cheering for war is the establishment position, standing up against war is the Underground position.
