Disney learned there is MONEY selling beyond the trump base Re: Roseanne

I originally posted this in response to a thread EffieBlack did, but when I sat down to view these figures, I thought it deserved it's own OP.

Disney just made two billion dollars with two movies, both of which featured African Americans, one of which was perhaps the first all AfAM blockbuster, Black Panther. We are talking Two billion at the box office, NOT with merchandising like the Black panther T shirts that are being worn.

Where I jump off is this: what does it say about racism that you can literally rake in TWO BILLION DOLLARS CLEAN, and still feel you have to give shelter to Roseanne until she finally goes to the camera and self destructs? Let's face it, Roseanne made money back then, but she made it clear from the outset that she intended to be her true, bigoted self. She did not get fired till Wanda Sykes (an afam comedian who could have easily just sat back and collected a paycheck) and of course, Sara Gilbert, the producer of the show. The fact it took that much internal strife to kill the show is kind of like someone waiting till they hit the Iron Lung before they cut the cigarettes from two packs to one.

That, my friends, is the white privilege that is considered a myth by some: Roseanne had to agressively, publicly make a mess of herself, whereas if Will Smith did this, he would be lucky to get on Reality TV.

No one will deny that the economy left people ebhind, BUT

a large part of that was caused by the fact that many of these people were willing to let them leave us behind provided that the first to starve would be "those people" that they never wanted to share the fruits of American labor. Hey union man, where were you when Blacks and Browns were kept out of your union? Hey "right to work state" man, where were you when your state banned unions. Where were you, voting GOP, that is where.

We are vry tired of hearing WWC voters act like their suffering needs to be placed at the front, because we know they minute they get healed, they will scream "screw the blacks and browns, they deserved to suffer anyway!"

Kim, this might be appalling but

First off, I despise Kim, and for me, the true test of someone who is too far too the left was if someone started telling me "kim is actually a great leader who has been maligned, and he should unite Korea!" Sorry, the Kim monarchy (and let us call it what it is) has spent a half century reducing a great nation to starvation, while threatening to destroy South Korea and us. They have even proved to be a tumor in China's body, as China realize that it's ugly cousin could rip a buzzsaw through all those elaborate silk roads it wants to lay for it's new Imperial grandeur.

If it was down to Trump vs Kim, Kim deserves the Nobel. Kim had to walk away from a war footing, which is backed by his own family, a group of people that make Game of Thrones look like a small town second tier Mafia family. He knows he could get killed for this, as rivals will seize the chance. There is also the fact the China, aka it's Imperial parent, is eager to cut off the funding, and will do whatever it needs to do to achieve it's aims. Let me be blunt, expect Beijing to try to have the Kims removed and a new, stable puppet if he signs this, so they can make sure no other Kims threaten the peace.

The great square dance conspiracy

Now, this article may be funny, but in many ways it reflects the same sort of cultural wickedness that makes people frustrated with America. Here we have a nation with many regional dances. some of these are considered "white": polka, waltz, clogging, some are considered "black": Jazz, Swing. Let's not even get into Latin dance, which has a lot more variants than "salsa". But here, he have a lobby to try and make "square dance" the official, national dance.

You see, it is not enough for folk areas of white people to have their regional dances and folk culture, no, a group of people, mostly retirees, have to go ahead and define what it is for everyone, sea to shining sea. As far as Afro-American dances, even though Jazz and Swing as done everywhere on the globe, and are often considered one of America's great contributions to world culture, these folks want to push them aside (BIG surprise.)

Harmless? Well take a look at this article:

You see, just as a bunch of people that our nations culture needed to be more Homogenized, a fellow named Henry Ford, the same guy who spread all these racst tracts Hitler loved so much, thought Jazz was some evil conspiracy by Blacks and Jews to ruin the white race. No, they did not just come up with this over at Bretbart, this was an old meme that had legs long before the folks in Charlottesville chanted "jews will not replace us!"

Going back to the original article, note how the square dances are regimented, no smking or drinking, no variance from offical moves. One offical board gets to literally dictate what is dance, and what can be danced.

Thismight seem minor, but when we snicker and snark at the minor details, we get clobbered on the cultural issues, even when things are aimed at the rest of culture not under the control of a bunch of very isolated and insular people.
