Family Affair: Father & Son run against each other, debating Trump

This is one worth paying attention to, folks. A family affair, of epic proportions, pits father against son, with Trump as the central issue.

According to The HILL (Which cites AP - here)

....A Rhode Island father and son who disagree about President Trump's policies are both running for office - against each other.

David Quiroa Sr., 47, and his son, David Quiroa Jr., 22, both filed earlier this week for a Rhode Island state House seat, according to The Associated Press.

Quiroa Sr. will run as a Republican, while his son filed to run as an independent. Both are hoping to unseat Democratic state Rep. Marvin Abney.

Quiroa Sr., who told the AP that he and his wife are "all the way for Trump," ran for the same seat 14 years ago but lost.

Milo Yiannopoulos: My call for shooting journalists was just a 'troll'

.
Conservative provocateur Milo Yiannopoulos on Thursday insisted that he "wasn't being serious" when he recently told two reporters that he "can't wait for the vigilante squads to start gunning journalists."

Yiannopoulos's comments Thursday came shortly after a gunman opened fire in the Capital Gazette newsroom in Annapolis, Md., leaving at least five people dead and several others seriously injured. Authorities have taken a suspect into custody, but have not yet released an identity or motive.

"You're about to see a raft of news stories claiming that I am responsible for inspiring the deaths of journalists," Yiannopoulos wrote in a Facebook post. "The truth, as always, is the opposite of what the media tells you."

"I sent a troll about 'vigilante death squads' as a *private* response to a few hostile journalists who were asking me for comment, basically as a way of saying, 'F---k off.' They then published it," he continued. "Amazed they were pretending to take my joke as a 'threat,' I reposted these stories on Instagram to mock them - and to make it clear that I wasn't being serious."

Romney wins GOP primary in Utah Senate race

Mitt Romney handily won the Republican primary for a Utah Senate seat Tuesday after toning down his criticism of Donald Trump as he looks to re-start his political career.

The former presidential candidate was the heavy favorite to win the primary in the race to replace retiring Sen. Orrin Hatch in Utah, where he's a beloved adopted son.

But Romney was forced into a primary after a narrow loss to state lawmaker Mike Kennedy in front of a right-leaning group of core GOP party members at the state convention in April.

Dr. Kennedy ran a clear race. The Doc clearly avoided pointing out that Mitt is unfit.

My prognosis is, Pittens is about to get switch slapped.

People Questioned, Filmed And Called The Police On Black Oakland Firefighter

African American Kevin Moore was in uniform, with a clipboard and fire truck during a routine inspection. Residents called 911 and videotaped him.

Someone called the police last month on a black firefighter who was participating in a safety inspection in Oakland, California. Someone else filmed him and asked him to produce identification.

Kevin Moore was one of a number of firefighters carrying out legally mandated exterior inspections to determine if vegetation posed an extra risk to homes in the event of a wildfire, the San Francisco Chronicle reported. Working in an upscale area of the Oakland hills, Moore was in uniform and carrying a clipboard and a radio, with his station’s fire truck parked nearby.

The Western Journal conducted a political survey to gather information on the Utah 2018 Republican Primary Election.

The poll shows 76.7 percent of the 875 Utah respondents favor Rep. Michael Kennedy for senator and only 15.7 percent prefer former Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney.

Ninety-one percent of the respondents have a favorable opinion of President Donald Trump, though only 73 percent consider themselves to be Republican.

US pulls out of UN Human Rights Council

Source: The HILL

Trump administration officials on Tuesday said the U.S. has pulled out of the United Nations Human Rights Council, saying that the international body is "not worthy of its name."

U.S. Ambassador to the U.N. Nikki Haley announced the withdrawal alongside Secretary of State Mike Pompeo, following multiple news reports that the move was imminent.
Haley blasted the council as a "protector of human rights abusers and cesspool of political bias" and accused the body of "politicizing and scapegoating countries with positive human rights records."

The withdrawal, which comes as the 47-member body begins a three-week session in Geneva, had been expected as a result of the Trump administration's frequent criticism of the group's treatment of Israel.
