Sen. Mary Landrieu Bravely Calls Out Southern Republican Obama RACE BASED HATE

In the middle of a tough reelection campaign, Sen. Mary Landrieu (D-LA) bravely told the truth about the race based reasons why Southern Republicans hate President Obama. In an interview with Chuck Todd, Landrieu was asked why President Obama has struggled in Southern states.

She answered,

There are any number of reasons. You know, one of the main reasons is because his energy policies are different from ours. I mean, we are a pro-production state….He put the moratorium on offshore drilling, and our state was furious about that. Now he could have shut down the BP operations, but he didn’t. He shut down the whole Gulf. When you shut down the whole Gulf of Mexico, it puts a lot of people here at risk and out of business. That’s number one.

And number two, I’ll be very, very honest with you. The South has not always been the friendliest place for African-Americans. It’s been a difficult time for the president to present himself in a positive light as a leader. It’s not always been a good place for women to present ourselves. It’s more of a conservative place, so we’ve had to work a little bit harder on that. But the people trust me I believe, really they do, to trust me to do the right thing for the state.

Sen. Landrieu’s honesty immediately caused Republican heads to explode.

FAUX NEWS responded with this:

Fox News, the home of racist and sexist political coverage, sounded the breaking news alarm to immediately tell their viewers that Mary Landrieu thinks that Louisiana voters are racist and sexist. Republican Gov. Bobby Jindal, who is suffering from the delusion that the party of race based hate will make him their presidential nominee in 2016, said in a statement, “Senator Landrieu’s comments are remarkably divisive. She appears to be living in a different century. Implied in her comments is the clear suggestion that President Obama and his policies are unpopular in Louisiana because of his ethnicity. That is a major insult by Senator Landrieu to the people of Louisiana, and I flatly reject it.”

It takes a serious leap of logic to go from the fact that the South hasn’t always been friendly to African-Americans to Mary Landrieu thinks Louisiana voters are racist. Sen. Landrieu stated a fact in the gentlest way possible. The South was the home of slavery and Jim Crow. It hasn’t been friendly to African-Americans and legacies from those policies still exist today. Southern Republicans have been especially hostile towards President Obama from the moment that he was first elected. Has everyone forgotten Southern congressman Joe Wilson screaming, “you lie” at President Obama during the State Of The Union? The American people and the media claim that they want to hear the truth from their leaders, but when Mary Landrieu told the truth, she was immediately vilified.

It took a lot of courage for Sen. Landrieu to answer Todd’s question honestly. She could have pandered to voters by endlessly bashing Obama. Instead, she pointed to a real source of policy disagreement (energy), and a cultural reality (race). Sen. Landrieu is widely expected to lose her Senate seat in a runoff, but she is not going down without a fight.

OOPS!! - Democratic Group Calls Christie's BLUFF On 'SIT DOWN & SHUTUP' Bluster

BAM!!................................

This public records request from American Bridge PAC to the office of New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie in response to his "sit down and shut up" bluster during an event in New Jersey on Wednesday is pretty funny:

To Whom It May Concern,

The following request is being made in accordance with the New Jersey Open Public Records Act (N.J.S.A. 47:1A-1 et seq.) and all other New Jersey open record laws.

At an event commemorating the two year anniversary of super-storm Sandy on October 29, 2014, Governor Christie claimed “I've been here when the cameras weren’t here and did the work [on Sandy recovery]”

We respectfully request a list of all trips to which Christie was referring - specifically trips to the Jersey Shore to work on Sandy recovery, where no “cameras” – from the media or the Governor’s office – were in attendance to record the event. [...]

Thank you for your time and attention to this matter.

http://americanbridgepac.org/app/uploads/NJ-Gov-OPRA-Sandy.pdf

The context: A New Jersey resident confronted Christie at a public event and accused Christie of being more interested in grandstanding than finishing recovery efforts, at which point Christie told him to "sit down and shut up," saying:

I'll be more than happy to have a debate with you anytime you like, guy, because somebody like you doesn’t know a damn thing about what you're talking about except to stand up and show off when the cameras are here. I've been here when the cameras aren't here, buddy, and done the work.

http://www.nj.com/politics/index.ssf/2014/10/christie_lashes_out_at_hecklers_democratic_nj_senators_for_delays_on_sandy_aid.html

Not a bad line, though it is ironic that it was delivered for the cameras. And now, with this public records request, we'll find out if it wasn't just another bout of hot air from Christie.

The Day Chris Christie LOST ANY CHANCE Of EVER Becoming President

LOL!................YOOOOU SIT DOWN.....AND MAY I ADD...........S...T...F...U!!!.................

It was yesterday, October 29, in the shore town of Belmar, NJ, where Governor Chris Christie had come to commemorate the two-year anniversary of Hurricane Sandy. Former Asbury Park city councilman James Keady, holding a sign that read, “Stay in NJ. Finish the job,” interrupted the governor to ask about his miserable record on Sandy relief. My favorite line isn’t “Sit down and shut up!” It’s the more creative “I've been here when the cameras aren't here, buddy, and done the work.” Or maybe it’s Christie’s comeback after he offered to debate Keady (“anytime you like, buddy, anytime, anytime you like”), and Keady said, How about at dinner tonight? Revealing that he’s all bluff and no tuff, Christie shot back: "There's about a thousand things I'll do tonight. Going to dinner with you is about number 1,001." And do not miss Christie’s wife, Mary Pat, to his left, with that tolerant-spouse-of-an-asshole smile. (The Bill Braley look-a-like standing next to Christie, Belmar mayor Matt Doherty, looks like he’d rather be anywhere else on earth.)

Here are more of Christie’s choice words, from NJ.com:

“I'll be more than happy to have a debate with you anytime you like, guy, because somebody like you doesn’t know a damn thing about what you're talking about except to stand up and show off when the cameras are here. I've been here when the cameras aren't here, buddy, and done the work. ... Turn around, get your fifteen minutes of fame, and then, maybe, take your jacket off, roll up your sleeves, and do something for the people of this state."

Keady, who said he is a lifelong resident, continued, "I was here for a month after Sandy, and ..."

Christie finished Keady's sentence for him.

" ... and there's been 23 months since then, when all you've been doing is flapping your mouth and not doing anything. So listen, you want to have the conversation later? I'm happy to have it, buddy. But until that time, sit down and shut up."

http://www.nj.com/politics/index.ssf/2014/10/christie_lashes_out_at_hecklers_democratic_nj_senators_for_delays_on_sandy_aid.html

Chris Hayes smartly booked Keady for his show last night, where Keady said that of the $1.1 billion allocated to victims of Sandy, “only 20 percent of those dollars have gotten to the people.” He also explained that he took off a month from work to clean up people’s homes and run the clean-up crews. OK, let’s give Christie a break: he’s had a rough few days. Kaci Hickox, the nurse he had quarantined against her will, had been kicking his butt public-relations-wise (she’s now out bike-riding in defiance of Governor Paul LePage in Maine); Wisconsin governor Scott Walker had groused that his re-election campaign needed only Christie’s RGA money, and not his presence on the stump); and on Tuesday a Monmouth University poll was released that found 66 percent of Garden State residents are "somewhat dissatisfied" or "very dissatisfied" with the Sandy relief efforts.

Still, Christie’s outburst in Belmar was even less “presidential,” to put it politely, than his long line of earlier tantrums. So far, only the nice moments of that day have made it to the governor’s YouTube channel.

Lindsey Graham: White Men In ‘MALE-ONLY CLUBS’ Will Do Great IF I'M PRESIDENT

Sen. Lindsey Graham (R-SC), who recently began floating the idea of running for the presidency, was caught on tape joking about how well white men would do if he won, CNN reported. “I’ve tried to help you with your tax status,” Graham can be heard saying. “I’m sorry the government’s so f—ed up. If I get to be president, white men in male-only clubs are going to do great in my presidency.” He can also be heard asking, “We got any Presbyterians here? We got any Baptists? They’re the ones that drink and don’t admit it.”

CNN said it obtained the audio from unidentified Democrats in South Carolina, who had received it from a person using an anonymous email address. The person who leaked the tape said Graham made the remarks at an “all-male club.” Graham confirmed making the jokes during a meeting of a charitable group, the Hibernian Society of Charleston. The group is the local branch of the Ancient Order of Hibernians, an Irish Catholic-affiliated group founded in 1836. He said political figures there are encouraged “to be earthy, to make fun of yourself, to make fun of them. Then you say something serious and sit down. And if you talk over 20 minutes, they throw something at you.”

Graham said his joke about “male-only clubs” was a jab at the group’s membership policy, and his remark about Baptists is in line with regular jokes he makes before discussing religious freedom more seriously. “I hope this doesn’t reflect poorly on the club,” Graham told CNN. “They are great guys.” Earlier this month, Graham told the conservative Weekly Standard that he was considering running for the GOP’s presidential nomination. “If I get through my general election, if nobody steps up in the presidential mix, if nobody’s out there talking — me and [Sen. John] McCain (R-AZ) have been talking,” Graham said. “I may just jump in to get to make these arguments.”

Shortly afterwards, Graham backed away from the remark in an interview with CNN. “I know what it’s like to run for president. I’m running for Senate,” he said. “I know what it takes to put an organization together, to put the money together. I am nowhere near there. I’m all-in running for the Senate.”

Hillary Clinton TURNS THE TABLES On Republicans By Saying Joni Ernst DISQUALIFIED HERSELF

"..Hillary Clinton called out a giant hypocrisy, and with less than a week to go, Democrats are sending a loud message that Joni Ernst won’t be allowed to keep her positions to herself..."

Where's Chucky??...why isn't he saying that Joni should ALSO be disqualified for refusing to answer questions?..well Chucky?......

In Iowa today, Hillary Clinton claimed that Republican Senate candidate Joni Ernst has disqualified herself from office by refusing to answer questions.

CNN reported,

“I have concluded that Iowans take politics really seriously,” Clinton said. “You test your candidates, you actually force them to be the best they can be and they have to be willing to answer the tough questions.”

Democrat Bruce Braley “has been willing to do and his opponent has not,” she said.

“It truly seems like it should be in disqualifying in Iowa of all states to avoid answering questions,” Clinton added to a sustained round of applause.

http://www.cnn.com/2014/10/29/politics/hillary-clinton-joni-ernst/

Clinton’s remarks in Iowa struck on a latent hypocrisy. Republicans and Beltway media insiders like NBC’s Chuck Todd claimed that Kentucky Democrat Alison Lundergan Grimes disqualified herself from office by refusing to say who she voted for in 2012. The same media and talking heads have had nothing to say about Republican Senate Joni Ernst canceling several meeting with newspaper editorial boards in Iowa. Grimes may not want to discuss who she voted for as a private citizen, but Ernst is refusing to tell the voters what she stands for and what she will do if she gets elected.

Republicans opened the door to the disqualification questions. Hillary Clinton walked right in and knocked them on their backsides. The Iowa Senate race is very close. Ernst’s refusal to tell the voters what she will do if she wins is a way for her to try to run out the clock and backdoor her way into the United States Senate.

New Polling–The Outlook In Kansas LOOKS SHOCKINGLY GRIM–for Republicans

Yes, you read that headline correctly. SurveyUSA is out with new polling in Kansas and the results are stunning for the previously moderate sunflower state that's taken a hard conservative turn in recent years. Let's start with Gov. Sam Brownback and his disaster of an economy:

In Tuesday’s new poll, the data shows Gov. Brownback at 43 percent to Davis’ 46 percent.

http://ksn.com/2014/10/28/ksn-news-poll-shows-race-for-governor-could-go-to-either-candidate/

Since August, Brownback has never led in the polls. Next up, the race for U.S. Senate, with the edge to Independent Greg Orman

Orman has a slight lead at 44 percent to Roberts’ 42 percent.

http://ksn.com/2014/10/28/senate-race-in-kansas-nearly-tied-in-latest-ksn-news-poll/

Orman's lead has shrunk a bit as Kansas tea-party Republicans completely backed off all their previous threats of sitting out of the election after a messy primary battle and decided to throw their support to Roberts. As if they were ever going to do anything different. The move to back Roberts, without him meeting any of their absurd demands shows just how toothless this group really is in Kansas. And last, but certainly not least, is the race for secretary of state, featuring Kris Kobach–the worst secretary of state in the nation–versus Daily Kos-endorsed Democratic challenger Jean Schodorf. When we last looked in on the race, Kobach had a 5-point lead. No more:

The latest poll data, released on October 28, shows that if the election were held today, Secretary of State Kris Kobach is tied with Democrat Jean Schodorf at 45 percent each. The poll shows that 11 percent of voters still remain undecided. The margin of error is +/- 4.0 percent.

http://ksn.com/2014/10/28/secretary-of-state-race-is-tied-a-week-before-elections-in-ksn-news-poll/

While there are a lot of reasons to dislike Kris Kobach, the single biggest are his policies of voting discrimination and disenfranchisement:

The Crosscheck list of suspected double voters has been compiled by matching names from roughly 110 million voter records from participating states. Interstate Crosscheck is the pet project of Kansas’ controversial Republican secretary of state, Kris Kobach, known for his crusade against voter fraud.

The three states’ lists are heavily weighted with names such as Jackson, Garcia, Patel and Kim — ones common among minorities, who vote overwhelmingly Democratic. […]

If even a fraction of those names are blocked from voting or purged from voter rolls, it could alter the outcome of next week’s electoral battle for control of the U.S. Senate — and perhaps prove decisive in the 2016 presidential vote count.

FAMILY VALUES?..LOL! - Georgia GOP Chair Accidentally Broadcasted ATTEMPTED SEXUAL ASSAULT On Skype

Republicans,...biggest hypocritical, bible-quoting con weasels on the face of this planet........

Apparently, the party of “no” doesn’t much enjoy taking “no” for an answer. On Wednesday, North Georgia News reported that 76-year-old Union County Republican Party Chairman Billy Joe Turnage was allegedly broadcast on Skype attempting to rape a woman. Turnage was arrested on Friday following an interview with investigators, according to Union County Sheriff Investigator Staff Sgt. Darren Osborn. “The investigation in this case continues,” Osborn said. He said the victim, unnamed, was a 39-year-old woman, and the assault occurred at the victim’s home. Police discovered the events when they received a 911 call asking law enforcement to respond to an ongoing “sexual assault and rape,” Osborn told North Georgia News. Osborn said of the incident:

“On October 22, dispatch received a 911 call at approximately 4 p.m. of what was believed to be an assault and rape. It was being viewed via Skype. Deputies responded and I responded as well.”

“Upon our arrival, we started an investigation. The end result was the arrest of Billy Joe Turnage. Mr. Turnage was at the scene when we arrived.” The investigation into Turnage’s attack on the woman lasted two days, and Osborn was clear that the victim “was not physically injured.”

“Because of the nature of the crimes in question, a Superior Court judge is required for a bond hearing, before bail can be set. Mr. Turnage will be held in the Union County Jail until such time as that event occurs and he makes bail.”

A photo of Turnage with GOP Senatorial candidate David Perdue was recently removed from the Union County GOP Facebook page. However, Ryan Mahoney, a spokesman for the state GOP said party officials have received no communication regarding Turnage’s “status.”

THE PROJECT 2017: GOP ACA Replacement They DON'T WANT YOU TO SEE

"..Mitch McConnell is being cagy about what he would do after he succeeds at repealing Obamacare, but we found out what they're planning..."

During his debate with Alison Lundergan Grimes, Mitch McConnell stumbled around with his answer to what he would do with the Affordable Care Act. While he promised to repeal it, his word salad about what to do about the popular Kynect website that has connected Kentuckians with access to health care was unintelligible. The Huffington Post subsequently tried to get some clarification from the campaign, but a cone of silence has been dropped and no one is talking, except for Senate staffers in McConnell's office:

The office added, however, that McConnell doesn't want to simply leave it at full repeal. He wants to replace the Obamacare model, a "broken system," as the aide put it, with "common-sense reforms that would lower costs for Americans." It remains to be determined what that replacement would be.

http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2014/10/27/mitch-mcconnell-obamacare_n_6054850.html?1414426293

As it turns out, they actually do have a detailed plan, but no one is talking about it. It's like a surprise -- trust Uncle Mitch to repeal and replace and it shall become reality! Why aren't they shouting it from the mountaintops?

THE PROJECT 2017

Let me introduce you to The Project 2017, headed up by Bill Kristol and Dan Senor, among others, and presumably funded by the usual billionaire suspects. The Project 2017 has a comprehensive plan outlined on their website for how they propose to replace the ACA. First, we start with full repeal of the Affordable Care Act. That means pre-existing conditions are once again in play, no premium assistance, no co-pay assistance, no state exchanges, no minimum benefits, and annual and lifetime caps on what insurers must pay are reinstated. Also, premiums would not be limited for different age bands, so that 60-year olds could pay as much as 10 or 15 times what a 20-year old might pay. Now that it's 2008 all over again, here are the bullets The Project 2017 would like us to swallow as "common sense reforms":

I. End of Year Refundable Tax Credits

"We propose providing a refundable health insurance tax credit of $1,200 for those under 35 years of age, $2,100 for those between 35 and 50 years of age, and $3,000 for those over 50, in addition to $900 per child. These tax credits would be made available to those, and only to those, who purchase health insurance through the individual market."

They also propose to index those credits for cost-of-living increases, while simultaneously acknowledging that the 3 percent increase will not cover the rising costs of health care. In what may be the most cynical play of all, they claim that people would be able to buy health insurance for as little as $15 per month, yet they fail to acknowledge that the insurance they're buying would be high-deductible substandard coverage with annual and lifetime limits on what could be paid out. $15 per month might buy a policy, for example, that would cover up to $75,000 for a lifetime limit. Prescription coverage would be out of the question. If you're a cancer survivor or diabetes patient, forget about coverage that would help you manage your disease. They also claim that people in various age groups would actually pay less than they do now, but fail to mention those over age 55 who are not yet eligible for Medicare. The group between age 55-65 pays the most in premium costs under this plan, but are omitted from the top-level summary.

II. Return to COBRA and High Risk Pools

If you lose your job, you'll get to keep your employer-paid insurance for a couple of months while you head out to the individual insurance market to find out what they've got for you. It's a form of COBRA-lite.

However, those with pre-existing conditions will still have pre-existing conditions when it comes to finding health insurance coverage. But there is this:

We propose allocating $7.5 billion a year (with a 3 percent annual increase following year-1) in federal funding for state-run “high risk” pools, an insurance framework championed by Capretta, Miller, and others. Those with expensive preexisting conditions would be able to purchase policies through state-run, federally subsidized high-risk pools. Through such high-risk pools, a person could purchase a partially subsidized health insurance policy, and his or her share of the premiums could not exceed some set percentage (say, 150, 200, or 250 percent)—with the exact percentage to be set by each separate state—of the average cost of a policy for a person without preexisting conditions in that same demographic group (based on age, sex, and geography). No one could be denied coverage through such high-risk pooling, no matter how unhealthy he or she might be.

Crucially, this federal funding would be provided to each state as a defined contribution. Each state would get a set amount each year (to spend only on its intended purpose) based upon its population of American citizens. While most states would likely supplement this federal funding with funding of their own, states’ outlays would not trigger any matching federal funds. As Medicaid and other examples have sufficiently demonstrated, the practice of matching states’ contributions with federal money merely encourages states to be generous in spending money (as every dollar spent nets them more in federal revenues) and reluctant to stop spending money (as every dollar cut nets them only some portion of that in savings).

Elizabeth Warren and Hillary Clinton To STORM Into Kentucky To FINISH OFF MITCH McCONNELL

Democrats are sending in the big guns during the last week of the Kentucky Senate race as Sen. Elizabeth Warren, and former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton will both take part in rallies for Alison Lundergan Grimes. The Grimes campaign announced that Sen. Warren will rally with Grimes on Tuesday in Louisville, “Senator Elizabeth Warren will join Alison Lundergan Grimes to rally Kentuckians who are ready for a Senator who will put hardworking families before millionaires and billionaires – as Mitch McConnell has done for far too long.” After Warren leaves the Bluegrass State, Hillary Clinton will be campaigning with Alison Lundergan Grimes in Northern Kentucky and Lexington on Saturday November 1.

Grimes campaign manager Jonathan Hurst said, “Just days before the election, Alison is honored to have Hillary Rodham Clinton join her for campaign stops in Northern Kentucky and Lexington. Her recent visit to Kentucky drew thousands of grassroots supporters to hear her endorse Alison’s plan to get Washington working for Kentucky. As she said in that speech, ‘more than any other race in the country, this election in Kentucky is a referendum on the future.’ It’s a privilege that she will be making the case for Alison on the final weekend of this campaign.” Sen. Warren has been out to defeat McConnell since he blocked her student loan bill.

In June, Warren said,

Well, accountability is exactly the right word. I plan on fighting back on this, and I hope that everybody else does too. One way, I’m going to start fighting back is I’m going to go down to Kentucky and I’m going to campaign for Alison Lundergan Grimes, . She’s tough. She’s feisty. She endorsed the student loan bill, said she wanted to bring down interest rates for Kentuckians, and so my view is, I’m going to get out there and try to make this happen for her.

I hope lots of people give her money at alisonforkentucky.com. I hope people will support her, because it’s really a way to say Alison is a candidate who’s there for all of us. For trying to make sure that everybody gets a fighting chance. It’s one way to deal with this. I gotta tell you, given what Mitch McConnell’s has been doing in the United States Senate. The way it’s just block, block, block, no, no, no. We get Alison Lundergan Grimes, in there and I feel like she could almost single-handedly get rid of some of the gridlock here in Washington.

http://www.politicususa.com/2014/06/11/elizabeth-warren-declares-war-mitch-mcconnell-blocked-student-loan-bill.html

Sen. Warren has been true to her word. The Massachusetts Democrat has been actively campaigning for Alison Lundergan Grimes. It is a brilliant strategic move for the Grimes campaign to feature both Warren and Clinton in the final week. Sen. Warren will help get the hardcore left out to support Grimes. Clinton will be able to target the moderate Democrats, Independents, and Republicans who could be learning towards supporting McConnell. The contrast between the two campaigns is stunning. McConnell is paying people to attend his rallies, while Grimes is drawing thousands of Kentuckians who are craving change.

NC Democrats CRUSHING GOP With Massive Early Voting Lead, Despite All That Vote Rigging

Its still pretty early to gauge but man, its nice to see this kind of turnout...........

North Carolina is tallying their Early Voting numbers, and so far, NC Democrats are crushing the GOP with massive leads. Apparently, when you try to keep seniors, people of color, and poor people from voting — and NC Republicans passed one of the worst voter ID laws in America last year — those people and their allies get really angry and start turning out in droves. Thank you, Republicans. Early Voting began on October 15, and WNCN reports 386,411 voters — nearly 400,000 — have cast their ballots so far. Of those, a whopping 148,001 ballots came from registered Democrats, as opposed to a far less impressive 88,900 from registered Republicans.

"...That is the official figure, current through Sunday, provided by the North Carolina State Board of Elections and includes mail-in, military, one-stop and overseas votes. The [early voting] number represents a little more than 5 percent of the 6.6 million registered voters in North Carolina..."

In an update, WCNC reports Democrats have “long enjoyed an advantage in Early Voting,” but add that this year’s turnout is unusually high. Political science professor and analyst Dr. Michael Bitzer adds that, so far, year’s midterm election turnout feels more like what you’d see during a presidential election year.

“It does not feel like a traditional midterm election. It is eye-opening for Republicans in particular, and especially the Thom Tillis campaign, simply because this should a lean GOP year.”

Of course, Democrats need to get out the vote on Election Day before popping the corks off the champagne bottles. But so far, things look great for our side of the aisle.

WCNC reports on Early Voting in NC.Here’s the video with WCNC’s report on NC Democrats crushing the GOP with their massive lead in Early Voting… despite all of the GOP’s vote rigging and vote blocking.
