Fuck that shit, starry messenger. I mean it, fuck. that. shit. Posting to my Journal.

Are we having to put quotes around phases to make clear one thing or the other?

Honestly, I think there may be some willful misunderstanding going on if I can't be accepted as being on the right side of issues.

Without using quotes, FFS. Is there a progressive style guide I should consult???

Catch Phrases and Word Salad from a K-6 LAUSD school.

Witness these crushingly strained compositions that only a state educational grant writer could love, or comprehend, proudly flying on a banner.

The banner is above the steps of a Los Angeles Unified Elementary School, where the students are predominantly from non-English speaking homes.

56% English Language learners, 100% Free/reduced Federal Lunch Program, I wonder who is supposed to read these words at this K-6 school.

Do I really have to ask the question, "What the Fuck is Wrong with Schools??"

Oh, also, this is the school that was shut down temporarily following the discovery that a teacher was serving cookies topped with his own semen, and taking pictures of the kids eating them, and other stuff.

Here's the teacher, Mark Berndt:

Thank you, Sheriff Taylor, the dad I never had.

I probably owe more to Andy Griffith and the skills he portrayed as a father on the Andy Griffith show for my upbringing than to any other male figure ever alive.

I came up on a defunct due to death asparagus ranch, raised by grandmother in a home with mom and sister, four years older, and attended a two-teacher eight-grade school.

Like Mayberry, I was raised in a rural setting, without even running drinking water (we had to go to a well to refill what fed a single kitchen spigot).

We had a Black and White TV that my mom bought my grandfather with her first paycheck.

Three years and 14 days younger than Ron Howard, Opie was the boy I longed to be.

And Andy was the dad that I never had, but for lack of any other came to teach me values, and morals, and kindness and goodness, and how to be happy with just the way things are, and without preaching about it.

Thanks, Sheriff. Thanks, Pop.

Rest In Peace.

PS: Fact is, my DU user name is inspired by Barney, who was once heard to say, "Andy, I think we got us an SKP!" (escapee)

Right Fucking Now. Elizabeth Warren for President 2016......

Plan ahead. Nobody else comes close. Elizabeth Warren: "There is nobody in this country who got rich on his own"

"You built a factory out there? Good for you... But I want to be clear:

you moved your goods to market on the roads the rest of us paid for;

you hired workers the rest of us paid to educate;

you were safe in your factory because of police forces and fire forces that the rest of us paid for."

"You didn't have to worry that marauding bands would come and seize everything at your factory, and hire someone to protect against this, because of the work the rest of us did."

I declare my support for Elizabeth Warren for President 2016 right fucking now.

Shell. Let's Go.

Inspired by a link in GD, be sure to give it a kick and rec:

http://www.democraticunderground.com/1002825447

A satire site invites you to create your own Shell "Let's Go" poster, like the one I made below.

The website is here: http://arcticready.com/social

Play a cool game on their "Just for Kids" page:

http://arcticready.com/kids

Just for Kids: Angry Bergs

Right now, the polar ice caps of our planet are melting.

That's bad—but it's also good!

That's right! It's bad because our planet needs ice at the poles. But it's good because when the polar ice melts, we at Shell can go up there to get more oil, which can do a whole lot of things. Thanks to oil:

Mommy and Daddy can drive to the store to buy you new toys.
Companies like Mattel™ can build new toys.
Engineers can drive to work to design new, better toys that are even more fun to play with.
When you're done with your toys, trucks can take them away to dispose of.

Oil can even help us fix some of the problems that melting ice causes.

So it's fine to be sad about our melting polar ice caps, and about how sad that makes the planet—but remember to be glad as well, because of all that the oil we're finding there is letting you do, now and far into the future!

I think the GD post: "Women: How feminine are you?" is a valid topic for discussion.

But the Poll and the terminology used to raise the topic were unacceptable, and the member probably not sincere and the poll is now locked.

I offer this link for context:

http://www.democraticunderground.com/1002810596

And my earlier Meta post was, IMO, misunderstood, so I am deleting it.

~

The discussion I find fascinating is a cultural one about the potential dissonance between femininity and feminism, the generational and regional and cultural aspects and nuances.

Similar gender-based discussions can be, and have been, had around male attributes and stereotypes; can a male be both masculine and sensitive? Is it feminine to be kind and masculine to be mean?

I was raised by women: a grandmother, mother, and sister, and without strong male role models, so these things interest me because I never fit the typical male role in this culture.

I am sorry that a few members mistook my earlier post of the same subject line to mean that I agree with that posting member or with the design of that poll, I agree with neither.

I will now delete that post and leave this one in it's place.

Thank you and have a terrific weekend.

Oh, LOL, it was unintentional, didn't realize you wrote what I read before I posted.

There is and will continue to be a LOT of that shit around here. Such As:

"...Obama Will Get My Electoral Vote"

That is bullshit right there, that is waving a turd in front of the faces of people who want to be sure of preventing a Republican win.

Fuck that shit.

Vote green but go post it somewhere else or keep the fucking shit to yourself.

I wrote that after reading your post elsewhere and now that I realize it I just want to clarify that I wasn't addressing you personally in the reply above to your OP, but rather quite broadly and generically to people who flaunt in not so subtle terms that they aren't going to vote for Obama.

That's all I got.

Who remembers this: "The Land of Make Believe".... Chuck Mangione and Esther Satterfield, 1973?

"Dreams are really
The thoughts that you
Have hidden in your heart.

When you start a brand new day
Let your heart show you the way
And make a dream or two
Come true.

How I love when my thoughts run
To the land of make believe
Where everything is fun
Forever."

"The Land of Make Believe"....
Chuck Mangione and Esther Satterfield, timeless, classis. Enjoy.

http://www.democraticunderground.com/12593371#post1 [div class=excerpt]http://www.democraticunderground.com/124384291 http://www.democraticunderground.com/124384554 1. It need not be unanimous. But there must be the consensus. I tend to think that if one person is strongly opposed to a lock, and is making that stand based on some principle they are able to articulate, then that position should be respected and consensus does not exist. But if some people are just-kinda-meh-not-sure opposed to a lock, then you can assume that consensus exists. But I think the bigger picture is that if everyone is doing the job in good faith and being polite to each other, then it should not be very hard to determine if consensus exists and act accordingly. http://www.democraticunderground.com/12595617 [/div] ~~~~~~ Hi Jerry!!![link:http://www.democraticunderground.com/?com=forum&id=1269|Visit the new DU \\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\"Progressive Media Resources Group\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\"] http://i2.cdn.turner.com/cnn/dam/assets/121223012937-11-obama-face-1223-horizontal-gallery.jpg [link:http://www.democraticunderground.com/?com=forum&id=1269|Visit the new DU \\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\"Progressive Media Resources Group\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\"] http://i2.cdn.turner.com/cnn/dam/assets/121223012937-11-obama-face-1223-horizontal-gallery.jpg [link:http://www.democraticunderground.com/?com=forum&id=1269| Visit the new DU Progressive Media Resources Group] http://i97.photobucket.com/albums/l217/Shockwave_73/warren_2016_bumper_sticker.jpg blue color is color:#0000ff
