Waukesha Massacre: As it happened per the criminal complaint

The vehicle then got to the intersection of East Main Street and NW Barstow Street, and it
appeared the brakes were activated. Office Butryn believed the vehicle was going to come to a
stop and attempt to make a right hand turn out of the parade route, onto NW Barstow Street.
However, the vehicle then appeared to rapidly accelerate, as Officer Butryn heard tires squeal.
The vehicle took an abrupt left turn into the crowd of parade participants. At this point, it was
clear to Officer Butryn that this was an intentional act to strike and hurt as many people as
possible
. Officer Butryn continued to run westbound on East Main Street, trailing the vehicle
and its path. He observed the vehicle appeared to be intentionally moving side to side, striking
multiple people, and bodies and objects were flying from the area of the vehicle. As Officer
Butryn got to the area of the Subway restaurant on East Main Street, Officer Butryn began to
encounter multiple casualties. Multiple people were pulling at him, saying that they needed
assistance with injured parties. Based on the on-going threat of the vehicle and the occupant,
Officer Butryn asked those assisting with the casualties as he passed, if they were breathing,
and advised them to stay with them and that ambulances were on the way. Officer Butryn
continued to chase after the vehicle on foot in order to stop the threat the driver posed.

Detective Casey spoke with Officer Scholten, who indicated he saw the Ford Escape traveling
southbound on West Main Street, approaching Wisconsin Avenue, running over people.
Officer Scholten shot at the vehicle three times, striking it three times.

Detective Trussoni spoke with multiple citizen witnesses who were present during the parade.
One witness indicated, “As I continued to watch the SUV, it continued to drive in a zig zag
motion. It was like the SUV was trying to avoid vehicles, not people. There was no attempt
made by the vehicle to stop, much less slow down.”

Detective Trussoni spoke with another witness who described the same zig zag driving pattern
by the SUV and the witness further indicated, he felt it was “a direct intent to hit as many
parade participants.”

Darrell E Brooks made the conscious decision to use his vehicle as a weapon to murder as many people as he could. He should've never been released and in a position to carry out his personal terrorist act.

Bay Area hit with spate of large-scale smash-and-grab robberies
Police are looking for dozens of suspects after a series of brazen thefts Friday and Saturday in the Bay Area that targeted high-end retailers in large-scale smash-and-grab robberies.

Walnut Creek police said Sunday that three people were arrested, including one who was in possession of a firearm, after an organized theft involving approximately 80 people at a Nordstrom store in the city’s downtown area shortly before 9 p.m. Saturday. Police said Nordstrom employees began calling 911 when dozens of people entered the store and immediately stole merchandise. Two employees were assaulted and one was pepper-sprayed, according to police.

Police said in a news release that they are reviewing surveillance video to identify additional suspects. Videos posted to social media showed some of the suspects fleeing the scene in cars parked outside the store.

Other Bay Area cities have also been targeted in what police said were coordinated group thefts, including at numerous high-end stores in San Francisco on Friday and at the Iceberg Diamonds jewelry store inside the Sun Valley Mall in Concord on Nov. 15.

Just a quick compilation of recent looting events in various California within the past 72hrs. Stopped there in the interest of preserving space. This drastic increase of organized looting mobs concerns me deeply. For retail businesses already struggling from COVID now getting ravaged, sometimes violently, by large groups robbing them blind. Looting will force businesses to shutter their doors permanently, further ruining the lives of people relying on their services.

Bail for violent offenders and inevitable community harm

Overdose death highlights deferred prosecutions in Milwaukee County
Chisholm sticks by plan as family says release led to 26-year-old's death

Milwaukee County District Attorney John Chisholm has long been a proponent of diverting nonviolent offenders from the traditional criminal justice system to programs aimed at giving them a second chance.

These programs have a proven track record, Milwaukee County officials say, at helping drug addicts curb their substance abuse while relieving the overburdened court system.

From the start, however, Chisholm realized these programs could have serious consequences.

"Is there going to be an individual I divert, or I put into treatment program, who's going to go out and kill somebody?" Chisholm said in a 2007 interview with the Journal Sentinel. "You bet. Guaranteed. It's guaranteed to happen. It does not invalidate the overall approach."

John Chisholm, has been a long time supporter of bonding out accused before trial. Non-violent and violent. This article from 2007 shows some consequences of this policy and recent events with the Waukesha massacre show a catastrophic consequence of allowing a violent felon release before trial. In 2007 he acknowledged this policy will result in death but still remains true to his belief in this approach.

Quick check of DU's pulse, do the deaths of victims at the hands of bonded out violent felons invalidate the concept of bond-availability for felons with violent histories or those accused of violent crimes?

NBC producer tried to photograph Kyle Rittenhouse jurors, judge says

The investigation is ongoing, the KPD said, adding that the person was "issued several traffic related citations."

According to the KPD, no pictures of any jurors were actually taken by the individual. Judge Bruce Schroeder said the person identified themselves as "James J. Morrison who claimed he was a producer for NBC News, employed by MSNBC."

Morrison allegedly said he was told to follow the jury bus by his boss in New York, identified as Irene Byon. "He was taken in for violating a traffic control signal," Schroeder said.

According to Schroeder, nobody else from NBC News "will be permitted in this building," the Kenosha County Courthouse, "for the duration of this trial. This is a very serious matter ... Someone following a jury bus, that is a very serious matter that will be referred to the proper authorities for further action."
