Recently declassified FBI FOIA documents concerning Smedley Butler & the Fascist Plot

https://vault.fbi.gov/smedley-butler/Smedley%20Butler%20Part%2001%20of%2001/at_download/file (pdf -- about 40 pages)

This was released 8/10/2017

On edit -- other parts address other things outside of the fascist plot but all related to Smedley Butler. Nothing really earth shattering though some parts are still redacted.

Tom Brady's Agent is Starting a Football League for college-aged players

Following high school, baseball players can enter the Major League Baseball draft. Basketball players can play overseas, or jump to the National Basketball Association following a year on campus. Tennis players, golfers, and gymnasts all have professional options, too.

Meanwhile, post-prep football players essentially have one path to the National Football League: participate in at least three years of college football, risking serious injury and submitting to economic exploitation.

Only what if those same athletes had a legitimate choice? What if there was a developmental league for America's most popular sport? That's the idea behind Pacific Pro Football, a new college-aged league that was announced on Wednesday and plans to kick off next year.

Pac Pro is the brainchild of former NFL receiver Ed McCaffrey and sports agent Don Yee, who represents New England Patriots quarterback Tom Brady and has spent almost 30 years working in professional football. VICE Sports spoke with Yee about what distinguishes Pac Pro from college football, what lessons can be drawn from previous professional football leagues, and how the new league may influence the ongoing battle over college athlete compensation.

Wake Forest investigation reveals radio announcer leaked game plans

A radio announcer for Wake Forest’s football games “provided or attempted to provide” details about the Demon Deacons’ upcoming game plans to opponents during the past three seasons, according to the findings of an internal investigation conducted by the university.

The investigation ensued following Wake Forest’s 44-12 loss to Louisville on Nov. 12, when staff members discovered materials left behind by Louisville indicated the Cardinals were prepared for plays the Demon Deacons had not run before, according to a USA TODAY Sports report.
The university’s release placed blame on Tommy Elrod, a former Wake Forest player, graduate assistant and full-time assistant coach who was fired, along with the entire coaching staff, following the 2013 season.

“Based on emails, text messages and phone records,” the university said in a statement, Elrod “provided or attempted to provide confidential and proprietary game preparation on multiple occasions” beginning in 2014, when Elrod was hired as an analyst on the Wake Forest IMG Radio Network.

It’s a story so crazy it could only happen in the sport of college football, which tends to lean toward the ridiculous: The home-team radio announcer, a coach fired and replaced by the current staff, leaking confidential information to the school’s opponents.

New CIA Director Mike Pompeo on torture, Muslims, terror, Iran, NSA spying

WASHINGTON Rep. Mike Pompeo of Kansas, just tapped to be Donald Trump’s new CIA director, has had a lot to say about torture, Muslims, terrorism, the Iranian nuclear deal and NSA spying. Here’s a sample:

Pompeo on the release of the 2014 Senate torture report:

“Our men and women who were tasked to keep us safe in the aftermath of 9/11 — our military and our intelligence warriors — are heroes, not pawns in some liberal game being played by the ACLU and Senator Feinstein,” Pompeo said in a statement on Dec. 9, 2014. “These men and women are not torturers, they are patriots. The programs being used were within the law, within the constitution, and conducted with the full knowledge Senator Feinstein. If any individual did operate outside of the program’s legal framework, I would expect them to be prosecuted to the full extent of the law.

“It is hard to imagine a sound reason that Senator Feinstein would put American operators and their families at risk—by demanding the release of details that are not in any way related to the legality or appropriateness of the programs. The intelligence collection programs described in the report have been in the news and hot topics for discussion for years. The sad conclusion left open is that her release of the report is the result of a narcissistic self-cleansing that is quintessentially at odds with her duty to the country.

“Moreover, the release of this report makes our nation is less secure. Our friends and allies across the world, who have worked closely with us to crush the Islamic jihad that threatens every Kansan and every American, now know the United States government will not honor its commitments. Their willingness to work with us in the future is now greatly diminished.”
