TV sitcom from March 1962 - "Ichabod & Me" ...

...this episode's title is The Celebrity with guest star Rod Serling as "Eugene Hollenfield."

Includes references to "beatniks" and the new, post-beatnik "movement" called "Resistentialism," which includes dialog about how people are "sheep."

There's an obligatory "swingin 60s twist-dancing scene" in Eugene Hollenfield's pad.

I have never seen Rod Serling in anything except the Twilight Zone & Night Gallery shows, unless I'm forgetting something(s), which is totally possible at this point.

The regular "stars" of this show were Robert Sterling, George Chandler and Christine White.

The commercials are included and also of interest, especially the York "Imperial Sized" Cigarettes ad.

I just found out: Ian Whitcomb has passed, on 4/19/20...

His song, “You Turn Me On” reached #8 on the Billboard charts in 1965.

Back around 1995 or so, I was part of a large dinner group, somewhere around 20 plus people, that, after leaving the restaurant we had dinner in, relocated to my house in Sierra Madre, CA.

One of our fellow diners was Ian Whitcomb, who, accompanying himself on ukelele, performed and told stories for almost an hour in my living room.

It was one of the top 5 most memorable experiences of my life!

RIP, Ian.

...which was the first band I was in, way back in 1978.

When we would play live (mostly around the Los Angeles area), I would be seated at a table in the club, and when the lead guitar solo started, I would leap up on the stage, grab the vocal mic and start ranting and raving about nuclear war, pollution, overdosing on drugs - whatever I felt like in the moment. Eventually the audience understood it was all part of the show.

I thought it would make a good "pandemic song," so here it is:

I'm on the far left, Dewey Martin (Buffalo Springfield drummer and Atascadero's first drummer) is 6th from the left, striking a goofy pose, and Scott, the songwriter and lead singer, is 2nd from the right, behind me.

So the only Trumphumper I have any regular contact with told me...

..."Trump has really bungled the coronavirus outbreak," so he will be voting for Joe Biden.

I was stunned to hear that, as just late last week he was still defending the moron.

I hope this is a growing trend among other T-humpers.

OK, weird question, I suppose...

...earlier today I bought a 32 ounce bottle of First Street Charcoal Lighter Fluid from a local Smart & Final store.

When I applied it to the charcoal, it was extremely strongly bad smelling, and yellow.

In all my 4+ decades of grilling or barbecuing, I've never seen/smelled any charcoal lighter fluid, including the First Street brand, that was like this.

The smell was really nasty and weird, but the bright yellow color was almost more startling to me.

Have any DUers seen/smelled charcoal lighter fluid like this?
